Day #6 - I am down a total of 15 pounds.

I feel good and energetic. People have mentioned that my skin looks so clear and "glowing."

I am thinking about adding 1 scoop of pea protein to 2 of my juices on day #11.

Hi CC- I just finished a 7 day fast and found a veggie protein blend called "Warrior Blend" and my local health food store. It had a fairly strong pea taste but thickened up my juices nicely and helped with energy, especially for exercise. I highly recommend it.

I've been following your progress...you're doing awesome. Keep it up and good luck! :-)

Thanks Laura. It's really encouraging to know that some people are following my progress.

I'll check out that pea protein you mentioned.

Day #7 and down a total of 16 pounds.

I have only been drinking about 3 juices the past 2 days. I need to step up my calorie intake from the juices.

CC, yes, remember to take between 4 and 6 juices per day! If you don't take in enough your body starts to get defensive and hold on to the weight it has. 16 Pounds!!!! Congrats!!!! That is just incredible!!!

I am going for the 60 days juicing. This is day one and it is already a challenge. The goal is 30 lbs by the end of the 60 days. Light workouts. The side effects, headache, cravings and staying true to the plan is a fight. I am trying to make sure i don't feel the hunger by drinking juices intermitttedly with hot water. Everyone thinks i am crazy but i need to seriously lose the weight. I need support so here i am. :)

sixvices, just stay strong and remember that it's just the first 3-4 days that give you headaches and cravings. That's good and means you're detoxing like you're supposed to! I'm sure you'll lose 30 pounds before the 60 days but 30 pounds is doable and I'm here for support! Post in here and keep us all up to date!

I was 377 pounds a little over two years ago and had a weight loss surgery. All went well until I hit a brick wall at 275 pounds. I saw the Joe Cross movie then forks over knives and decided it was time for health first, weight loss second.

I actually am on my second day of juicing. The hard part is that I cannot stand juice that is too sweet and the veggie juice taste really weird to me cold. I lost two pounds on the first day but did eat a small handfull of sunflower seads. I miss the salt so I will try more celery in my juices and hope it helps. I havent needed to chew the gum yet and I am glad. The diet stuff is still just too sweet and hard to chew. I am so surprised at how much energy I have. ALthough I started a strickly juice diet yesterday I had begun drinking juice a few days before. I do get a headaches sometimes but they dont usually last long.

I am so addicted to coffee that it was difficult giving it up. I have subbed chamomole tea with a little honey when I feel overcome. Is this ok for the juice diet? It seems to really help especially when I start feeling agitated.

Thank you so much for the support and help. My first goal is 4 days. Everyone says the first three are usually the hardest. After the 4th day I will decide if I feel I can do the 7 and maybe even the 14 day. However long I decide I have already started looking at the products in my home and what I normally eat differently. I love corn tortillas but when I read the ingrediant I was surprised there was more than just corn flour, lime and water.

The journey continues!

Skylark, some juices can be too sweet. Usually if I find a juice to be too sweet I'll add a little celery or romaine to bring it down a notch. I prefer my juices to be chilled but not cold.

The chamomile tea is perfectly fine during your juice fast. If you do get headaches feel free to take tylenol or ibuprofen. After 3-4 days your headaches will be gone and you'll feel really good! Just keep at it and you'll hit your goal. Try to go for 5 days and if you're feeling good after that, go for 7. After 7 days on juice I wouldn't even think about going back to solid foods. You just have to get in that mindset that you are going to juice for that amount of time.

Remember, you will go back to eating solids and 5, 7, or 14 days is not that long but the benefits can be long lasting. Keep us updated on your juicing journey, I'm here for you!

Skylark you can do it- stay strong- the food industry sets us up for failure with all the processed and chemicals in food-I had my juice yesterday morning and felt awesome. I can't wait to get started on May 6th. I know it will be difficult at first but nothing worthwhile is every easy:)

Hey guys! So I'm a college junior and have just been so overwhelmed with all the crappy foods I have been eating for the last few years! Not only do they make me feel groggy and tired but I've put on so much weight from it as well!! So this summer I have decided to try the 60 day juicing fast. I'm planning on starting this Monday ( still have to buy a juicer--if anyone has suggestions let me know!). I can't wait, I know its going to be tough, especially the beginning but the benefits sound like they are more than worth it! So if anyone wants to start with me then let me know :) otherwise I look forward to helping keeping everyone motivated and being motivated! Happy Juicing :)

Sweetrelief, welcome to justonjuice, I'm glad to have you juicing with us! 60 days is a very achievable goal and you will get plenty of motivation here. As far as juicers take a look at http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers view the three juicers on that page. I have the Hamilton Beach and it's worked fantastic! I just received my Cuisinart and the Breville should be arriving soon. Any one of those will do you good.

We are starting a 3 Day Group fast this Monday and it would be great if you joined us on that board. Thanks!

Good morning, My name is Karen and I'm starting a 10 day juice fast this morning. I would like to extend it out to 14-21 days now that I'm reading some of your posts. My biggest concern is headaches! I definitely am a caffeine fan and coming off of it will be challenging. Plus I want to completely rid my body of alcohol. I'm up to about 2 drinks per day!. My starting weigh is 211 and my daughter gets married in November. Am looking to initially drop about 20 with juicing and then bring juicing into a healthy lifestyle. I have never tried this before and have been experimenting with recipes and so far am very pleased with how the juice makes me feel! Wish me well! Happy juicing!

Karen, congrats on starting your 10 day juice fast today! As far as headaches feel free to take tylenol or ibuprofen as needed. You'll feel like a new person come your daughters wedding in November. Just set your goal, stick to it, and 20 pounds will fall off fast! I'll be here if you have any questions, and please, keep us updated!

Thank you!! Best laid plans to start yesterday ...and now starting today but I'm certainly ok with that! Yesterday was my daughter's senior prom and it just got away from me. I'm committed to roll with it today :) thanks so much for the encouragement and the support. I'm wondering how hard is it to keep up a juice fast more than 10 days? I've read that after day 3 it is easier? How is it easier? loss of cravings, more focus, ??

Karen, the first 3-4 days of a juice cleanse you are detoxing your body. After your body goes through detox, most if any symptoms such as hunger, cravings, withdrawals, headaches, etc, are no longer present. After the detox/cleanse part is done, it's simple to stay on for 7, 10, 14, 21 days and even longer.

G'Day,
I'm on day 2 now and yesterday evening I had a massive headache.
It was gone by this morning.
However I stopped drinking coffee a couple a days ago, some with alcohol.
Saturday and Sunday I only had juice and a piece of grilled oily fish and a mixture of boiled veggies that I blended.
I have reduced the fruit in some of the juice recipes as I think there are a bit to sweet for me.
Also somebody on the other forums gave me a link to this: http://myphytos.com/build
You can build you're own juices and know the calories, carbos etc.
I've also decided that after my 15 days I'm going the low carb/high fat diet.
Sort of Paleo etc;

That's an awesome calculator aussiewillie, but remember to remove the fiber from the equation after it's all finished to get a true calorie count of your juices. If you get headaches its okay to take tylenol or ibuprofen. Caffeine headaches are the worst!!!

I thought that calculator was based on the juice content?
Also ,my headaches are not as bad at the moment and I would prefer not to take any drugs.
Regarding the coffee,I normally have only one expresso in the morning.

If you look, it's still including the fibers in the contents. Here's how to break it down.

There are 4 calories per gram of fiber. Since you lose the fiber when you juice you don't want to include the fiber when counting your caloric intake.

So you would count up how many fibers are in your juice and multiply that by 4. Take your total calories in the juice and subtract the calories from fiber. Example:

700 total calories
25g of fiber (25 x 4 = 100 total fiber calories)

700 total calories
-100 fiber calories
-------------------
600 adjusted calories

That's just an example but I've heard it's also safe to take your calories and minus 5-10% and you'll get pretty close.
