I started my juice fast today and wanted to know how all of you were doing! I am at 205lbs and would like to lose 50 lbs. Weight loss is such a struggle for me and has been my entire life. This time last year I started bootcamp and lost 40bls and did paleo diet, I did great. Then I broke my foot and it has been a long rough year. I have done very well today with mild headaches and found this site a true blessing. I was discouraged a little bit ago and I saw the admins story and it was just what I needed to hear! So, how are y'all doing?

Hello I am new to juicing. I became a vegan a month and a half ago. I was a huge meat eater before but wanted to change. I am juicing to lose a bunch of weight. I am at 170 lbs right now and want to get down to 130 lbs. Not sure how long this will take so I am not going to set a certain day fast just going to focus on my goal weight. My first day at juicing went good today. I really enjoy the recipes and shopping list you have provided and wish to say thank you for the work you put into them. Looking forward to checking in here to help with motivation.

Debi, welcome to JustOnJuice! You are going about it the right way by setting a goal, and not a time frame. I'll be here if you have any questions or need some support along the way. It's very simple to do if you just put your goals above any cravings or temptations. Congrats on taking the first step!

Day 2 and I am feeling good. I am finding the Breakfast juices a little to sweet and was wondering if I can use less apples than the recipe calls for or even just have a Green juice for breakfast? Just not sure if the Breakfast juices are important for the juicing process and I don't want to mess it up.

Congrats on Day 2 Debi! Feel free to alter the recipes as you see fit. The more veggies the better. Fruits are good but should be limited to only make up about 20% or less of your drink. I always prefer to do a little more fruit in my breakfast juices but it's perfectly okay to use less if they are too sweet for you. Enjoy!

I'm on day 11 and was wanting to know what can be taken for bloating. This happens every day and by the afternoon it's kinda miserable. I've only lost 7 lbs. So I may be doing to many fruits. any suggestions?

@Cynamarie71
So glad you replied. I've been searching for someplace to get feedback and also help some newbies like myself in this journey of juicing.
Example: This morning I juiced 1 whole bunch of romaine, 2 pears, 1 lemon, 2 stalks celery and 1 apple.

@goldie
I'm new too, only day 2 I felt a little puffy in my face yesterday for a while I didn't think much of it til you said you were bloated. My hardest part is drinking water through out my day. I am a person who can go days without eating or grab a few chips and be ok.

I'm wondering if your body has just not accepted the juicing yet is holding on to it's old ways. 7 lbs is still GREAT

How many juices per day are you drinking? It's best to make sure you are at least drinking between 4-6 juices that are 16-20 ounces each. If you drink less than that, your body may not be getting an optimal amount of nutrients and will tend to hold on to weight instead of let go of it. Also, make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day. You need that water so try to drink about 64 ounces of water throughout the day.

As for the bloating it could be too much fruit. Try adding more veggies to your mix. 2 Pears, 1 Lemon, and 1 apple can be pretty heavy on your caloric intake. Also, if a whole 16-20 ounces of juice is just too much, knock it down and drink 8-10 ounces of juice per sitting. Then just juice more frequently as you feel hungry.

@JOJ
I'm doing 3-4 juices a day and lots of water. Maybe too much fruit but it makes the juicing more tolerable. I will try to cut back a little and use the 80/20 ratio. Is there anything natural to take for the bloating?

I would cut back on the fruits. Are you using a juicer or a blender? If you are using a blender are probably taking on too much fiber as well.

I am using a Breville juicer like the one Joe Cross is using in his documentary, Sick, Fat and nearly Dead. I have done lots of things to help this situation and no success just yet. I just thought that there would be a herb or something that was a natural flusher :)

How were you feeling before the juicing regimen? Did you had the same problem?

Numerous over-the-counter and prescription drugs, such as antidepressants, antihistamines, iron pills, and calcium supplements with bicarbonate or carbonate, can cause constipation and bloating, especially when you first start to take them. Or perhaps you are taking on too much fluids.

This is an entirely new problem. I'm not on any prescription drugs but I do take 2 calcium chewables a day. How long do you think you can juice only before running into some health issue?

Another thing you can add is ginger if you're not already using it. It helps for various things including digestion. Fennel is great ingredient that helps with bloating and also offers a good flavor to many juices. I would try that along with lowering the amount of juice you drink per serving. Instead of doing 3-4 juices per day at 16-20 ounces, start doing 5-6 juices per day at about 8-12 ounces and see if that helps. Let me know how that works out for you.

Hey guys, just checking in...on day four, yesterday was VERY bad. I was miserable, cravings were through the dang roof and I was starving (or so I think). I drank water with lemon and lots of juice but it seemed like 15 minutes later I was hungry again. Making the family dinner was rough, I so wanted to eat. But I didn't. I made it. I should note that not only did I exercise I helped my mom paint her house for three hours. Can anyone tell me more about cravings, do they EVER go away?????? I am trying to focus on my goal like Joe Cross said. And at first I thought my goal was to lose weight, but now I realize that my goal is to break my addiction to the wrong foods. I didn't eat that bad before because I did mostly the paleo diet but i would trip every now and then. Does this ever get easier? Do the cravings for food ever go away? ARe you ever satisfied with just juice?

I was wondering if I can drink some aloe vera juice to try to get my digestion going in the right direction. Will it mess up my juice fast?

Goldie, I don't see anything wrong with aloe vera juice as long as you are juicing it straight from the cactus itself. I wouldn't buy it already bottled. What's wrong with your digestion?

Debi, That is great! It's usually between day 3-5 that you start to get that "feeling good" feeling. Your system must be just about finished with the detox part. Have an awesome day and keep doing what you're doing, it's working!

Miz_Jones, Congrats on getting to day 4. Remember that there is a difference between hunger and cravings. Hunger is when you body tells you it needs nutrients, and cravings are when your mind tells you to grab a snack or to eat out of habit. Most of what you are experiencing are cravings as the juice is loaded with enough nutrients to quench that hunger. Once you can differentiate actual hunger from cravings things will be much easier. Keep juicing and doing what you are doing, the rough part is just about over!
