Lose weight by Juicing?

Lose Weight By Juicing

Can you lose weight by juicing

Lose weight juicing? Yes! You most certainly can and will lose weight by juicing. The weight you lose will depend on how long you juice and what you juice. Juicing is a very effective, nutritional way to lose get rid of those nasty toxins while shedding away those extra pounds. Most people lose a lot of weight within the first two weeks. I myself lost 20 pounds within the first two weeks and dropped two pant sizes!

Juicing for weight loss

Many people now are juicing for weight loss. Can you lose weight by juicing for a few days? If you juice for a day or two you probably wont lose a whole lot of weight. Some people juice as long as 60 days or more. Joe Cross juiced for 60 days and lost a massive amount of weight and cured a chronic illness. You can see his documentary called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix or Hulu. Juicing for an extended amount of time like that takes some will power but you don’t have to shoot for 60 days if losing weight is your goal. If you are truly juicing and not cheating, you will notice some good results within 14 days. Most people lose anywhere from 10 pounds to 20 pounds or more within the first fourteen days.

But how can you lose weight by juicing? You will lose more weight by juicing raw vegetables instead of fruits. Fruits are great and give your juice a good taste but you should keep your more fruitier juices for the morning. Fruit has a lot of sugar which can slow down your weight loss. I like to make a good fruity drink in the morning but for my other meals I tend to just use an apple and a lemon to hide other strong vegetable flavors such as kale or spinach. It’s best to keep your juicing diet to about 80% vegetables and 20% fruits.

So How can I lose weight by juicing? Juicing will load your system with tons of nutrients that you normally don’t get from eating a regular meal. Imagine trying to eat two apples, a large cucumber, six big kale leaves, four stalks of celery, half of a lime, and a large carrot. You would feel stuffed, bloated, and maybe even sick. Your stomach would be full and your digestive system would have to work very hard and use a lot of energy to digest all that. Now imagine putting all that through your juicer and drinking a tasty 16oz of nutrition loaded healthy juice. Seems much easier right? But wait, there’s more to it.

Not only do you get loads of nutrition, your digestive system doesn’t have to work nearly as hard since the nutrition from the juice is absorbed into your system. So where does all that energy go that your digestive system used to digest hard meats, strong dairy products, and heavy bread? It goes back to you. Since I’ve been juicing I feel more awake, active, happy, and healthy. I’ve been able to do activities that I thought I’d never do again.

Everyone can lose weight by juicing! Since your body is taking in all the nutrients it needs to sustain itself, you start to force those nasty toxins out of your body. Since many of those toxins are stored in fat, you shed weight at a very fast pace.

But will I gain it all back once I stop juicing? If you go straight back to your old eating habits you probably will gain some weight back. Most juicers I have talked to have not gained that weight back. When you juice for an extended period of time your appetite will diminish and you will not be able to eat as much as you used to. Once you decide to stop juicing and go back to solids there are ways to do it correctly. The majority of your diet should contain at least 80% raw vegetables and fruit. You will still need to watch what you eat and not gorge yourself on heavy foods. Losing weight is easy if you stick to juicing for a few weeks. Give it try and give me some feedback on your experience with juicing. I hope you enjoyed reading how to lose weight by juicing. I’d love to hear your feedback.

  4. I m thinking of starting juicing and i recently tried some fruit- vegetables cold pressed juices to see what i like and dont before i purchase all the ingredients . I was wondering do you juice all day long ? or you juice for a meal or two and then have a sensible healthy dinner for example? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you

    • I have the same question, Im pretty new to this juicing and have read a lot of good results, I beleive that we should be juicing every day, substitute the breakfast and lunch with juices and have a dinner that is 80% vegetables. Remember 4-6 juices is good, from my recent expereience, 3-4 just doesnt feel like enough and have found that i am absolutley starving by the end of the day. Not sure if this helps, just wanted to share some insight. :)

  5. I have a juicer but I guess I’m curious as to how it juices the leafy greens?

    • Kennedy do you have before and after pics? Also are you on the reboot with Joe website?

    • Kennedy,

I just started today! I’d love to get the same results you did; any tips? I’ve been planning to do the 2-week plan but am really tempted to do longer depending on how I do the first two weeks. :) Do you have before/after pictures?

  8. Hi. I juiced for 7 days and I lost 4kgs (I think you call that 8 pounds) I cannot believe it. I still dont actually believe it. People have been commenting on my skin and I’ve been told by my nanny and my husband that I’m looking younger (might be my energy is up?) I noticed the following benefits:
    glowing skin
    lightened eczema
    softer hair
    pink nails
whiter teeth (is this my imagination)
    Amazing clarity of mind
I also havent been moody or irritable at all in this time.

What a gift – I’ve got 2 colleagues onto it now, and my husband will also be doing the fast in the coming weeks.

    • Congratulations Aradhana! It’s amazing what some healthy juice will do for not only your body, but your mind too! Make sure to keep juicing as part of your diet when you go back to eating solids. Thanks for the post, and congratulations again Aradhana! Cheers!

  9. There are several benefits to juicing like it aids in better digestion, it helps to improve your overall mood, it strengthens your immune system, it helps to slow the aging process, you will also notice healthier skin, nails, and hair, juicing is a great energy and mind booster. Personally, I juice green vegetables with apples 3x per week and it does work.

  19. I didn’t know that you can lose more weight with vegetables instead of fruits, I’ve been using fruits more because I like the taste better (maybe its the sugar). But I’ll give vegie juice a try. Do you think ready made vegie juice is just as good as home made?

    • NO! Veggie and fruit juice that is ready made, does not have the vitamins and minerals in it to keep you healthy through your fast. Don’t waste your money.

  23. I am using Urban Remedy for my juice cleanse. Going to to 18 days.

    • $1440 for 18 days on Urban Remedy, I will be buying raw fruits and mostly veggies and juicing, I hope I can make 18 days $260.00 roughly

    • SPAMMER. TROLL. GET A LIFE.

  24. I am currently on day 3 of juicing fast. Trying to do it for at least 21 days. I have juiced before and I usually stick with two juices. Fruity juice and veggie juice, occasionally I add extra 2 a fruit or veggie juice, depending what produce I have in a fridge.

And I usually only juice once a day, I know people say u should only drink fresh juice etc but find it easier making it in a batch and then keep in a fridge for a day.

I make grapefruit/orange/lemon juice mostly, occasionally if I have pineapple, I make pineapple/lemon/lavender juice, I use lemon as I find pineapple too sweet sometimes.

For a full day I would use 2 grapefruits, if they are big, if small I would use 3, 8 small oranges and 3 lemons, depending how big they are and how sweet you want ur juice or how bitter you like your juice. U add more oranges, lemon, grapefruit. This is usually my staple fruit juice.

Also pineapple apple and mint taste really nice, if u like sweet juices.

Also another one of my fav, I drink this even when I don’t juice is sparkling water with lemon or sparkling water with lemon and fresh ginger. I think it’s just amazing for the summer.

My fav veggie juice is similar 2 v8.
For that I use one large cucumber, 4 tomatoes, 3 lemons, about 8 stalks of celery and a bunch of parsley. This by far is my favourite juice. Taste so amazing.

When I originally started juicing I would add a lot of apples in my veggie juices but nowadays I like my veggie juices mainly made up of veggies and to make it taste nicer I use a lot of lemon. I do alternate sometimes, if I have kale, I add kale, or spinach or cabbage, sometimes even broccoli.

    Enjoy juicing

  25. I want to start juicing really bad. How many times you drink the juices? is it once a day or more than that? Do you drink it everyday or what? And do you follow this juicing process with other diet kinda plan? or just juicing but control what you’re eating and drink?

I really want to start juicing to lose weight and be healthy. Please somebody help me ! 😀

  26. Hi I am starting my juice fast on monday the thing is I really dont like veg will it be easy enough to drink

    • Veggie juices are not that bad if you add a little something extra to mask the taste, like and apple or lemon. But even then, if you don’t like the taste, just try to gulp it down quickly. I have found that if you don’t smell the veggie juice before or while you’re drinking it, the flavor isn’t as strong. And trust me, some of those veggie juices can be very smelly. Good luck on your fast! :)

  27. I have COPD and have been on inhaled steroids for 2 years and counting now. Last year, I found out I had Breast Cancer and have been battling that but am now in remission but due to being so sick I have not been able to exercise AT ALL plus taking the steroids I have went from 128 lbs to 190 lbs. Dr says I can now start to slowly work out again and I want to start juicing for health AND weight loss. How much juice should I be drinking per day and also can I make it up ahead and refrigerate it (like make that days all at once in the morning)?

    • You can use a masticating juicer to store in fridge for up to 3 days I hear. God bless and good luck!

  28. Hi everyone
I’m on day 5 of juicing fast, I had a really tough day yesterday and nearly caved…! I’ve done them before but my daughter was on hols with grandparents and my son wasn’t born. This time has been very tough preparing and feeding the kids. Does anyone have any advice please?
    xx

    • It all comes down to willpower. It’s willpower alone and keeping your belly full if you can with some kind of satisfying juice. You also have to whip your mind into shape, telling yourself, “this isn’t forever. I can eat those foods again. When I am done, I plan on eating ________.” Stay away from food as you can. With kids, cook what you know you won’t cave with. Like I can’t be around pizza or pasta. So I avoid it. It’s not easy, but you get better with time. First 3 days, so hard for me. I also use these days to pray for people, committing each day to a certain person. It makes things so much easier if you use a spiritual commitment first, but that’s just my take. Been doing it successfully for 5 years now. You can do it. Blessings! :)

    • did you find you lost weight after 5 days?

  29. I can not drink juice after 2:00pm or I will be awake all night long. Is there a juice that you can have later in the afternoon that will slow you down not speed you up???

    • Just drink a Sleepytime Tea, or some kind of tea containing Valerian Root. Since it is liquid based, you won’t be breaking your fast and the valerian root will calm you down and make you drowsy. Or just take a natural supplement such as Melatonin an hour before bed, they sell it in Walmart and it has always helped me fall asleep.

  30. My husband and I started juicing on the 11th of May 2014 and its been 11 days the first 3 days i lost 7 lbs. and my husband lost 8, after the 5th day my husband and I weighed our selves and he lost 3 more lbs and I lost 2 and then he stopped juicing and I kept going, so on the tenth day witch would be 5 days after that I weighed myself and only lost a pound. is there something that I am doing wrong?

  31. When you juice for a week, how long after do you wait to juice again?

  32. Hi, I am juicing up till noon. Then after noon I have small portions such as turkey sandwich, oatmeal, yogurt. If my juicing consists mostly of fruits is that too much sugar? Does it have to be veggies to lose weight?

  33. I just bought a blender before i discoverd this site. .:( but im going to stick to the 7 day plan anyways. It will be better than the junk I normally eat. Im 14 stone now should be interesting to see what happenes.

  34. I started my juice fast 5/8/14 today is the 9th of May my second day im using the Jack Lalaine power juicer. I’m just drinking about 40 oz of juice a Day Which is 4 leaves kale, 3 Carrots, 1 apple, 4 celery sticks, 1 lemon. And i drink about a gallon of water a day..also i will be starting to go to the Gym . will this help me loose weight. . Any Advise will help. What else can i add to my juice for a better taste.

    • Hey there! I read your comment and thought I could help you out a bit. I have been juicing for about a year or so now. I started off with certain vegetables and fruits that appealed the most to me. I personally really love beets, carrots, celery, cucumbers, kale, spinach, oranges, lemons, grapefruits, tomatoes, and fennel. When juicing you have to make sure that your equipment is geared to handle juicing certain fruits and vegetables. From reading your comment, it looks like you are good to go! I drink my fruit bearing drinks in the morning. I keep my natural sugars out after about 11 am. I typically blend together 12 carrots, 1 lemon, 1 green apple, 1 large beet, and 2 oranges. I happen to really enjoy the taste of beets, so I typically drink this drink early in the morning, followed by 32 oz of water. Keeping regular with your drinking and continuing to exercise helps drastically. You also should not be consuming any alcohol or other beverages at this time. If you want to truly detox and find true health and meet your goals you have to stay on the plan. Also, when you start juicing make sure you work with vegetables you happen to enjoy, it makes it so much easier to maintain and continue with your goals when you actually enjoy what you are drinking. I love spicy drinks as well, adding fennel and arugula to mine work wonders. I hope this helps!

      Good luck and happy juicing!
      -W

  35. Great site. I’m fixing to do this for my first time. I need to lose 30 pounds of baby fat!!! It seems like a lot to me right now because my 1200 calorie diet is so slow!!!! Only 4 pounds in 12 days. I want results like now. Maybe you should have people volunteer(not me) to do before and after photos so moms like me can see that losing baby fat is attainable. Then maybe more moms would be inspired to be healthier. It’s hard when your goal weight just seems so far away. It can be pretty depressing.

    • dont be discouraged since i had my daughter i weigh now 219pounds i use to weigh 110 pounds its a big difference in weight for me. but im trying to get under control. try to believe in your self and you will be okay. adont try to look good for man kind look great for you.. im trying my hardest to do so.. and im sure i will reach my goal

  36. Hi, I have one question. I am battling Psoriatic Arthritis, in fact, it is at the worst I’ve ever endured. I have been researching because most of the medicines I’ve been prescribed only lower my immune system, which is why I think I’m in the fix I’m in now. I found a wonderful chiropractor who says all his patients have been healed of Psoriasis simply by following a juicing protocol and eliminating nightshades and a few other foods that trigger Psoriasis.

I noticed one of the juices for the juicing cleanse has tomatoes in it, which I love, but have truly found trigger inflammation badly for me. Is it ok to substitute this whole recipe with one of the others? Also I’m supposed to avoid citrus fruits until I’m in remission. Will it alter the results if I leave out the orange, lemon or lime?

    Thanks for your advice.

  37. Hi! I really want to start juicing but I have an anniversary dinner coming up in a week in a half. If I started juicing and the had that one cheat meal would it ruin my results? Thanks for any replies!

    • no it doesnt my brother started off slow you dont want to change all of your eatting habits immediatley because then you eill either give up fast or cheat do it little by little until your boy adjusts youll be fine

  38. i just did my first juice meal and i’m so far loving it and i’m not hungry like i usually am by now

    • Thats awesome keep it up… its super healthy for your body

  39. Im not a expert, I started juicing a month ago. I needed to loose some weight & lower my bad cholesterol. I began & didnt have any craving for anything else. I lost 15 lbs. & better yet I wasn’t so depressed ! I got energy now! & haven’t told anybody but people say they havent seen me smile ha, & look great. I love it. Nothing to argue about. :)

  40. Hi! My mom and I really want to start a juicing diet over the summer because we would like to lose weight and be overall healthier. Do you think that if I start juicing this summer for most of the summer, I’ll loose around 20-30 lbs? I am a dancer and need to stay fit, and haven’t really been doing that lately and I’d really like to be healthier for my upcomining fall dance performances. Thanks!!!

    • Hannah, I’m sure you will lose the weight very fast and probably even before summer gets here! Just stick with it and you’ll see results. Cheers!

    • i think as long as you start now you should at least loose the twenty but dont stress yourself too much with that. try to stay away from chips, candies ect and youll do great good luck

  41. Good morning, today I am starting my second fast. I did my first fast a few months ago and I did it for 10 days and lost a total of 14 lbs. I am going for a 30 day fast this time. I am doing this fast for two reasons, first one is weight loss, second on e would be detox. My question is supplements, can I take them? I am referring to pepper, garlic, muilt vitamin and magnesium. I am really trying to focus on detoxing the liver so I am aiming for thinks that will help in this process.
I wish I had found your site before, it’s nice to have a go to reference guide. I wish you had pictures on here to show people what can come of juicing. I had a friend who completed a 60 day juice wow. He did an amazing job and looked great. It’s not just the weight, that was just a bonus. His completion was awesome, skin was clear and his eyes where crystal clear. Talk about pretty, it makes us all as pretty as we can be. I guess I shouldn’t refer to a guy as pretty but he was lol.
I will keep checking back through my fast for inspiration. I am not going to lie and say it’s easy. I live with people that will not go without food so I am constantly dealing with that.:( oh well I know that it can be a struggle but I can do this I just take long walks during their dinner time.
P.S. I don’t do a lot of different juices I keep it simple. I use spinach and bagged power greens, celery, cucumber, ginger, carrots and lemon. The one thing I do is seep rat the first 5 ingredients and down those and then drink the carrot and lemon slowly. I just don’t like the mix I don’t like the greens period but they are so good for me I drink them :( the carrot and lemon is amazing soooo good. I don’t use apples to much but I do on occasion.
So keep me in mind for the next month, I will do this. I am keeping a picture journal as well as a written on just for reflection. It’s a great way to keep myself motivated. Have a wonderful day Denise

  42. I started juicing 9days ago. I first only did one juice in the am, and by the third day I did It twice a day. I am down one pant size already and noticed a huge release of bloating in my entire body. I went out of town on the 7th day into my juicing and was not able to juice, I was Incredibly fatigued with no energy and all i kept thinking about was how bad I wanted a juice! !. I came home the next day and made a double juice and couldn’t drink it fast enough! I have tried every diet out there and this is by far, more than a diet. My body craves the nutrition, I feel amazing energetic and most of all I want to keep juicing. I truely believe this is a lifestyle change more than a diet, the weight loss truly is just a bonus, I would reccomend this to everyone!! Also I have to say I originally was only going to juice for a 3 day cleanse and now I no longer crave chips candy or pasta :) juice people juice!!!!

  44. Hi. On day 6 and feel great EXCEPT some slight nagging depression. Is that normal with the detox?

  45. Hi,

My husband and I are on Day 9; our goal is 14 days and I am confident we will follow through! We feel great! Just juice, warm lemon water and herbal teas. We drink plenty of juice to stave off hunger and encourage one another to stay motivated.

Weight Loss? I have lost 10 lbs., he has lost 12.6lbs. We have a plan for afterwards so as to continue our healthy lifestyle (we are both vegan, me for nearly 8 years, him for 6). Becoming vegan and living a healthy, vibrant lifestyle will always be a process; we transitioned into vegetarianism many years ago, then to being vegan, and now we enjoy lots of raw and cooked vegan food. It did not happen overnight.

The key is to have a manageable plan. Explore what it is you really really want and how you will fee, visualize yourself as if you are already there, write down your SPECIFIC lifestyle goals, get support, and move forward. You can do it!

Thank you for this clear, informative, supportive web site! I have shared it with many and will continue to do so in the future : )

  46. I am severely overweight and tried dieting and exercising for a month now and only lost 16lbs… I wanted to try juicing but I’m currently reviewing for a local board exam. Would you recommend this lifestyle change if I need to study almost 24/7 for the boards? Thank you.

  47. Hello, I am about to embark on 3 day…maybe longer if I can keep going. I am about 15lbs overweight. I’m not looking to lose a ton of weight but was wondering for smaller goals and smaller frames, do you know if weight loss is slower? Like maybe I would have to do a longer fast in order to hit my 10-15 mark? I’m curious. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any insight!

  48. Thanks

  50. I’m on my 10th day of juicing using green apples, pears, cucumber, kale, spinach, celery, and ginger. I drink ,1 8oz glass for breakfast and 1 8oz glass for lunch followed by water throughout the day. In the evening I would eat a sensible dinner. I have not lost any weight so far. Why?

    Confused

    • I have been juicing on and off for several months now, I also exercise at least an hour on three days of the week, I don’t think that the exercise is required, but it just feels right. I lose weight almost immediately, I can see the difference as soon as the next morning. This is a challenging thing to do, but well worth it, I fight weight on a constant, it is no fun. My experience so far is that you have to limit the amount of sugary fruits, your body is just turning them into fat.

I use the following and drink it all through the day, with very little solid food if any at all. Usually a couple days in a row, then eat very lightly for a day and do it again for a couple days. Best results are when I just go for a week at a time though, I am yet to make it past 5 days.

      This makes a pitcher full.

      1 Salk Celery
      2 Lemons
      4 Granny Smith Green Apples
      1 Bush Kale
1 Oz Ginger root (use what you like for taste)
      4 Large cucumbers

I make this in the morning and drink it all by evening.

If you want to add exercise, get familiar with your body. Cardio only loses weight while you do it, and weight lifting can burn calories for hours after working out. With this in mind, I lift weights on a circuit at the recreation center for about an hour, you don’t have to lift real heavy but try to push yourself a little. Now your body is burning calories and storing necessities into your muscles, go get on the treadmill or bicycle and you will burn calories at twice the speed during cardio.

Getting used to going to the gym is the biggest obstacle, but it becomes something you love to do. You just have to do it.

      Good Luck!

    • no eating after 2pm each day…period and if you really want to change your life, juice straight for 30 days…and I do mean change your life. is it worth it?

      • i am on day 3 planning on changing my life once and for all..only juicing for 1 month to enjoy the next 40 years and to get off all meds..and hopefully to not have to wear my sleep mask anymore..(although I hear the weight loss may not help the snoring)
Did it last Feb for the entire month and lost 42 lbs…got off all the meds and never felt better..Then I got stupid..again…It wont happen ever again this time…ever!! Feels great to wake up with what feels like a flat stomach each morning..Yes the headaches absolutely suck..Again, I say is 30 days worth changing my life? Not losing weight, but changing my life…And the answer is easy!!!!!!

  51. Hi Donnie
I want to start 5 days juice fast and after that just juice for Breakfast and lunch, and have a salad style meal in the evening and drink only tea.
Do u think i can loose weight by that!
    Thank you.

  52. Longest I’ve juiced days in row was only 3….and lost 6.5 lbs….then took a couple of days break….and did again. Later I juiced during the day and had a sensible dinner. I’m trying to restart and do a 5 day minimum juice…its so difficult!

  53. Happy Morning my Fellow Juicers!
This is the start of my 5th day juicing! I’ve losy 14,9 pounds in 4 days! I feel refreshed and energized.
I gotta tell you, my 2nd day was the Hardest! I was so tired and wanted so badly to eat something, anything! The worst was feeling tired and dozing off. If I had know that would happen I would hve started my cleanse on a Friday and i could have drank my juice and gone to sleep in my bed! But i pushed thru and stay strong. I kept going to Don’s blog for encouragement, it kept me motivated and I pushed through day 2. It’s been up hill since then.
I do drink a whole lot of water during the day to keep away the hunger feeling. I only take 2 juices to work with me.
I drink the 16 oz ofmhot lemon water every morning!
I make a lot of the juices with a high ratio of veggies. My favorite is the Green Giant Juice! All the juices are delicious anf surprisingly filling!
I’m getting ready to fix my breakfast and lunch juice to take with me. I have a lot of running around to do on this Saturday morning!
★★★ Stay Strong! ★ Stay Focused! ★★★ Remember why you started the JustOnJuice Cleanse! ★★★ 《~_~》

    • Thank you! Today is my first day and I am shooting sensibly for 3 days and see if I can aim for longer afterwards.

You’re listening to a girl who has bacon and cheese for breakfast. This is my first time trying juicing. Thanks for the power!

  54. I began my 7 day Just on Juice on February 25th. This is my 2nd day. I weighed in this morning, I was 5.9 pounds lighter! Amazing! I know it was all fluid, but a pound is a pound and I’m excited!!

The juices are do delicious and filling!!

I only did three 20 oz of juice my 1st day. They’re very filling! And I drank a lot of water throughout the day.

I’ve been so constipated this past couple of weeks, bad eating habits, I was hoping this juice would get things moving! It hasn’t happened yet, but I am feeling something so it should be today, but definitely tomorrow!! I hope :)

I sip my juice, stretch it out over a couple hours, so it last me. I bought just 2 bottles in yesterday and today. Last night I drank just 1 more. Imma try to drink 2 more bottles tonight to make it 4 bottles for today.

I will increase my juice intake to 5-6 bottles starting tomorrow.

I would appreciate any suggestions, comments or recommendations to help me be more successful and get the most out of my journey!

  55. Hi I don’t have a juicer only a blender can I still do this diet? ? thankz

  56. Hi Donnie! My husband and I are about to embark on a 7-10 day juice fast (or longer). I have done a ton of research but am still a bit uncomfortable about the effect this fast will have on my husband who has type II diabetes.
Other than drinking mostly veggie juices, I am a tad concerned about the carbs in juice and whether we should be adding psyllium husks or something as to cut the carbs for him??
(this will be done under the advice of our family doc and monitored by frequent blood tests as I have high cholesterol, ect..
Any help or tips will be appreciated.
I need to lose 75# and he 50#

  57. When juicing for weight loss, are you allowed any solid food at all? Protein? What is a good website for recipes and step by step weight loss juicing?

  59. Hello,

I have been juicing for 10 days now and have not lost one pound. I weigh myself at the same time in the morning after using the restroom and before drinking water or juice. I drink 6 16ounce servings of juice a day. I follow the 80 percent veggie 20 percent fruit method. I drink plenty of water, about the same amount or more than the juice. I am a server, so i am fairly active just because of my job. I am at a complete loss. I just got a colonic today to see if that will help. I just want to lose a little weight and some belly and chest fat. I am very disappointed after pushing through this incredibly difficult fast to not see any results. Any thoughts? I feel like i am going to stop after day 14 because it just doesn’t seem worth the deprivation.

    • Juicing is a great way to lose weight and fight all kinds of illnesses.

Are you also following a healthy diet? You cannot just be Juicing. Your body needs real foods to kick start your metabolism. If you do not eat enough your body will go into defensive mode and slow your metabolism while storing extra fat because it thinks lean days are ahead.

      Regards,

      Talisha

Here is a good guide I wrote which will help you with your weight loss goals if you are interested.

      http://www.books.kitchenchatters.com/the-ultimate-juicing-guide/

    • Hey Benny,

I’m on day 8 of juicing. You don’t have to eat solids like that person said. Your body gets all it needs from the juice, including protein. I drink 6-8 mason jars of juice a day and I follow that mason jar with 16-20 oz of water. Are you consuming enough juice? After day 3 you really shouldn’t feel deprived. I have no hunger pangs . I may want food sometimes because I’m addicted, but I definitely don’t feel deprived. I would try drink more juice and going green. I’ve lost 11.5 lbs so far. Good luck!

  61. What is the proper way to come off this diet , I have a really big stomach but I’m only 120 pounds and I want to be 100-110 , I struggle with emotional eating , anorexia, binge eating and more and I just want to lose weight fast.how long should I do this for , what should I use (like what fruits and veggies) when coming off of it what should I eat/not eat ? How many calories? If I eat McDonalds or Chocolate again will I immediately put back on all the weight even if its been a long time after the diet?

  62. Thanks I’m almost 20 and have been about 30 lbs overweight almost all my big school career. Now that I have a actual career going I seem to go to fast food places more and now notice I’m gaining a lot. Just never sure how to loose it. But I pretty sure I can buckle down and start juicing.

  63. Hi all this info was really good I just have a few questions like
    1) I wanna lose 30-40 lbs how long should I juice.
2)what are some good ways to help with caffeine headaches (major dr. Pepper drinker)

    • Aaron: To lose 30-40 pounds you basically juice until you’ve lost 30-40 pounds. I know, stupid answer but everyone is different. You may lose 10 pounds a week the first two weeks then drop to 5 pounds a week, or you may lose 5 pounds a week from the start. You could also wind up losing 10 or more pounds a week and sustain that rate. So I would honestly go into it committed to 4 weeks of juicing and see how it goes. As for the caffeine headaches…with the juicing and water intake you will be surprised how good you feel. That said…if you do get the headache I would not be against having ONE Dr. Pepper a day to kill the headache. Personally I think a cup of coffee or green tea would be a better alternative though but with all the juice, you are still gonna lose weight even with a soda a day.

  64. I’m on day 2and missing the sensation of chewing. Can I occasionally have a piece of gum?

  65. Donnie, I am
Just realizing that this is in fact yur site. Congrats! I looking for supportive platforms such as this as I embark on my juice cleanse. I’m concluding day 5 and I feel like dynamite. My tummy was growling for the first few days, but seems to be doing better. I also learned that I am not consuming enough juice. I’ve been taking in roughly 40 oz a day. Can you ease share a recipe that yields a lot of juice. I’m finding this to be a bit pricey and I want to be as economical as possible.

  66. Hi Dolly, I just stumbled upon your page and I’m so happy that I did. I am currently concluding day 5 of my juice cleanse. I had originally thought that I would just go for 5 days, but I have so much energy and want to continue. So far I’ve lost 10lbs. I’m loving how I feel. I’m interested in the 60 day challenge. Can you please tell me what I need to do? How do I get my email to you?

  67. DOLLY, I am interested in joining you on your 60 day fast. Please email @ gjbluv@gmail.com

    • I just mailed you gabby,
Thanks for joining me in juicing journey.
      Cheers,
      Dolly :)

  68. Donnie, I have the Nutribullet which is not a juicer. So in regards to the fiber..if I make sure to cut all skins off will this work out ok for a juicing fast?

    • Sorry Gabby, you’ll still be including all the pulp and fiber in your juices. Read this article for more information on why you must use a juicer for a juice fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/can-i-use-a-blender-for-juicing/

You can however use a blender to make smoothies and you’ll still get the detoxifying and nutritional benefits. You’ll go through detox and lose weight slower but it will still work depending on what your goals are. Just make sure you have a blend when you feel hungry and don’t over eat. Cheers!

  69. Hi Donnie,
Your success story is very inspiring… Thank you so much for sharing and helping with us.
I know loosing weight is not so easy and maintaining it is the toughest one.
    But juicing seems doable.
    My own concerns are:-
I want to feel healthy and energetic.
I have 40 lbs to shred to get into normal weight for my height, but I want to shred 60 lbs so that I look slim.
I have hair fall with which I’m little worried.
    I want naturally glowing skin.
When All these are possible with juicing I am very much interested and excited to start juicing.
I am starting my 60 day juice fast today itself. Is It o.k exercising while on this juice fast? How about burning 1500 calories a day I.e 4 days a week?
Anyone wants to join me on this 60days juice fast lets do together.
I will be posting my everyday status of juice fasting but you will know my lost lbs on 61st day morning Because I am going to weigh my self on that day only.
Thanks for reading my comment n helping me.
    :) Dolly :)

    • Dolly, I’m glad to have been an inspiration to you. All of your concerns are good ones and ones that juicing will help you with. You’ll notice the energy will start to kick in towards the end of the first week. Your skin will also change during that time and your hair will be more healthy than it has been in a long time. Keep me posted on your progress throughout your fast Dolly. I’m always here if you need me. Cheers!

      • Thank you so so much for your support Donnie.
2nd day of my juicing is going good… Probably from tomorrow I will start exercise… I haven’t started yet because I just wanted to listen to my body how it reacts with only juicing. I think I am enough energetic to exercise.
I will post how I feel after burning good amount of calories tomorrow.
58.5 days to go….. Can’t wait to reach my goal.
        Cheers,
        Dolly :)

  70. Hey donnie i am doing a three month weight loss program at my work and want to lose 30lbs not only for the challenge but for my own personal gain to become slimmer and healthier. My question is that if i start my two weeks of juicing now will i potentially gain the weight back by the time the three months are up or do u recommend waiting till the last two weeks of the challenge? I appreciate the time you take to answer my question and the website u have provided!

    Thankyou,

    Shelby

    • Shelby, welcome to JOJ and congrats on joining your 3 month work challenge to get healthier and lose weight. I suggest you start as soon as possible doing the juice fast. After you reach your goal work on healthy eating habits and you’ll still continue to lose weight or maintain your ideal weight. Read this article for how to eat after a juice fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/how-to-eat-after-a-fast/ It will help you out. You are going to have a fantastic fast and you’ll acquire much more than weight loss. Keep me posted on your progress and know that I’m here if you have questions. Cheers Shelby!

  71. Going to try extended 30 day juice fast. I am 230 and 5.1. How much juice should I be drinking a day? Been drinking 5 juices each 16oz a day. Lost 5.8 pds first week but been same weight for last 3 days?

    • Teresaa, you should be drinking a juice whenever you feel hungry. Most people go through 4-6 juices per day. Try changing up your juice recipes and make sure you are sticking to the 80:20 rule and using 80% veggies and only 20% fruit. Cheers!

  72. Is it good to add a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil to my juice?

  73. I just got the nutribullet and need to cleanse
I need to lose a good 20 lbs and want to make sure I use the right recipes
I did the master cleanse lost .10 lbs in a week but felt there was no nutrition to that diet
    Looking for some advise.
    Thank you!!

    • Lisa the best advice I can give you is to get a juicer! The nutribullet is blender and you’ll have to adjust the recipes by cutting them in half which means you’ll take in half the nutrition as opposed to a juicer. You can still use the Nutribullet it just wont be the same as a juice fast. Read this article for a more in depth answer to the juicer/blender differences: http://www.justonjuice.com/can-i-use-a-blender-for-juicing/

You’ll still get plenty of nutrition using the nutribullet but your weight loss will be slower compared to a juicer. Cheers!

  74. Hi, I have started the juice only diet today I have 2 weeks to lose a dress size and a half I will also be exercising everyday, do you think this is possible? Also I work long shifts so is it ok to take my juice and store it in a fridge? Thank you for taking time to read and answer this message.

    • Micheale, I think you are well within your means to hit your goal of losing a dress size and a half. You can take your juices with you to work as long as you keep them in an airtight container and store them in a refrigerator. I wish you all the best! Keep me posted on your progress. Cheers!

  75. Hi I just started the 7 day juice fast. So far I have lost 4kg. I want to continue 5 days and stop as it will be my daughters birthday. Would that be ok? And then just start back up after. And can I just stick to the recipes on the 7 day juice. Or where can I find more recipes? Sorry for all the questions and thanx in advance

    • Chantelle, people have the best success when they stick with the fast as opposed to taking a day or two and eating solids and then going back on the fast. You can do it either way though but just be true to yourself and don’t overeat during that day. If you would like to try more recipes go here: http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-recipes/ Cheers!

  76. If I want to lose 50 lbs. How long of a juice fast should I expect to do?

    • Laura, don’t set yourself a time frame, set yourself a weight goal and juice until you get there. Remember, you will continue to lose weight after the fast as long as you stick to healthy eating choices. Give yourself two weeks and then decide if you want to continue or start to include solids for a while. If you want to lose 50 pounds it may take a month or two depending on how much you currently weigh. Just keep in mind you will continue to lose weight after your fast, just eat healthy! Cheers!

  77. Hi I started my juice fast on sunday and am actually very suprised at how well i am doing, but i need your help. I need a recipe that will keep me full longer. when i am at work it’s hard for me to keep running to the lunch room for a drink, so if you could recommend something i would appreciate it. I work with junk food junkies and i need the help.

    • Roxanne, welcome to JOJ and congrats on starting your juice fast last Sunday! Here’s a recipe I use before or after my workouts: http://www.justonjuice.com/green-giant-juice/ This should keep you full for a longer period of time. Well, just know that those junk food junkies you work with probably won’t feel as good as you do. Remember, they are stuck on their addictions until they make a choice to better their health like you did. Try the Green Giant Juice and let me know how it works out for you Roxanne. I wish you all the best! Keep me posted on your progress and know that I’m here if you have questions or need support. Cheers!

    • I also started a juice fast recently (last Friday so this is Day 8 – down ll.4 lbs). Its going to be hard to find a juice that will keep you full longer since you cant really thicken up a juice too much. I would try adding some banana though. Also try to use more vegetables as I find the more veg loaded my juices are, the less I need to drink per day.

Is there some reason you cant keep a juice with you? I usually bring more juice than I need to work with me, but instead of keeping it in our communal fridge, I bought a little cooler that I keep in my car. I drink a juice on the way to work, at lunch, and then on the way home from work each day. I have more juice just incase which I have for dinner usually. In between meals if I’m feeling tired I’ll have some black Chai or green tea. If I’m hungry I’ll try and drink more water to tie me over until my next meal. Hope this helps!

      • Erica, welcome to JOJ and congrats on your weight loss so far! It sounds like you are doing everything right Erica, way to go! Keep us posted on your success. Cheers!

  78. Thanks for your help! Also what juicer do you recommend?

    • Anytime Michelle! Take a look at http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers You’ll see three that I recommend for everyday use. Any one of those will work great! Cheers!

    • I purchased an Omega J8004 and I LOVE IT!! I have been juicing for one week. I juice more veggies since the fruits are loaded with sugars.

      • Rhonda, Omega makes a great juicer! I’m glad you enjoy it and congrats on one week of juicing!!! You’re doing it right! Keep me posted on your success! Cheers!

  79. Hi Donnie,
I recently came across this site after deciding I’d begin juicing over my winter recess from college in hopes of becoming healthier, intake the nutrition I’ve been missing out on, and drop weight. I do however have a question for you…I’m not using a juicer but instead the Nutribullet. Do you have any comments, reviews, or feedback? and do you happen to know if I’ll be getting the same nutritional value?

I was intrigued by the Nutribullet due to the fact it is somewhat a small appliance and easy to clean up. Also I took into consideration if I sleep out (mainly over my boyfriends which is multiple times a week and usually every weekend) it isn’t hefty to lug around..I probably sound crazy but my boyfriend needs to shed weight too he is obese, makes horrible eating decisions, and has horrible eating patterns. I’m really going to give it my all to be dedicated to this lifestyle even though that may mean taking this appliance back and forth between locations. I’m hoping my success will motivate him to live a healthier lifestyle with me this year.

Also I apologize if someone has asked this question already.

    • Hiya gina,
I know I’m not donnie but i thought I could answer your question!!
The nutribullet will give you more nutritional benefits as you are consuming all the fruit and vegetables. In a juicer you throw away all the pulp- fibre. So with the Nutribullet you are getting fibre.
You will definitely loose weight with a juicer or a nutribullet, just remember to comsume mainly vegetables. Use 1 fruit to sweeten each drink.
Nutribullets are fair easier to use and clean, msking the juicing experience no hassel at all!! x

      • Kaz, if her goal is to go on a juice fast the blending won’t help. Please read this article on why you must use a juicer for a juice fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/can-i-use-a-blender-for-juicing/ Fiber is a no no on a juice fast as it defeats the purpose of the cleansing aspect of it and slows down the detox and weight loss aspects. A 16 ounce juice is way more nutritional than a 16 ounce blended beverage. If you are using a Nutribullet you aren’t juicing as juicing is the process of extracting only the juice. The nutribullet just blends it all together.

Take a look at any of the recipes here at JOJ. We will use this one as an example:

        2 granny smith apples
        1/2 lemon
        1 inch ginger
        4-6 kale leaves
        2-4 stalks of celery
        1 cucumber

This recipe makes a good 16-18 ounces of highly nutritious juice. If you were to blend that all together it would be no different than trying to eat all of that whole. That’s a lot to eat for 1 meal let alone 4-6 meals! Look at the calorie difference! You’d most likely gain wait if you blended this recipe 4-6 times per day as opposed to juicing it 4-6 times per day.

Fiber is good and it’s needed when you eat solids. The funny thing is that whenever you eat solids you are getting fiber. Juice is not digested and instead absorbed in to your body so fiber is not needed during a juice fast. Is fiber needed in your diet? Yes, and you still get all the soluble fibers when juicing, just not the insoluble fibers. You’ll get the insoluble fibers the minute you start eating solid food again. I hope this helps to clear up the idea that you can use a blender while juicing because you simply cannot. Cheers!

    • Gina, welcome to JOJ. You’ll need a juicer to do a juice fast as a blender won’t work. Read this article for a more in depth answer as to why you MUST use a juicer: http://www.justonjuice.com/can-i-use-a-blender-for-juicing/ The nutribullet is a high speed blender and will not separate the juice from the pulp. There are smaller compact juicers such as the juice fountain from Breville. It’s fairly inexpensive and you can find it on Amazon. I wish you all the best this New Year! Keep me posted and let me know how things go Gina. I’m always here if you have questions. Cheers!

  80. Is drinking coffee ok to drink?

    • Michelle, it’s best to not have coffee due to the caffeine. Caffeine is a toxin. You’re only going to get rid of toxins and weight as long as you aren’t introducing toxins back into your body. It is however okay to drink decaf as long as you don’t put anything in it like sugar, honey, sweetener, creamer, or milk. But that kind of defeats the point of coffee.

  81. I am so excited about starting juicing. I have 18 pounds to lose, and I believe this will do the trick. Is it truly safe to juice for 30 days?

    Thanks,

    Nicole

    • Nicole, welcome to JOJ! It’s truly safe to juice for 30 days. Anything beyond that I do recommend a check up with your doctor to ensure everything is how it should be. But I’m sure you’ll drop 18 pounds well before 30 days. Keep me posted and let me know how it goes Nicole. Cheers!

  82. Hi Donnie, my boyfriend and I will start juicing tomorrow morning. We have been really excited to start right after the holidays. I was reading other posts on this site and was surprised to hear how many people are starting on Monday. We choose Saturday because we are off work for the weekend and are prepared for the detox and possible irritable side affects….. We have a 2 yr old son and I have always been pro organic when it comes to his food, but not mine, that is until my boyfriend saw the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix. He started trying your juicing recipes the next day. He is tall, thin and is great shape, so I was surprised to learn of his new-found passion for organic juicing. I myself am short and fat (256 lbs), worst shape of my life. I was athletic until I had our son. I’m so excited we found this! And thank you for all the great recipes and advice. My goal is to be under 200lbs by Memorial Day! I plan on juicing for 30 days!

    • Angie, welcome to JOJ and congrats on starting your juice fast Tomorrow with your boyfriend! It’s going to do you guys so much good! I think you’ll hit your goal much quicker than you think. I wish you all the best Angie! Keep me posted on your success and know that I’m always here if you have questions. Cheers!

  83. Hi

    Great site.

I am starting my juice fast on Monday 6th jan. I have a chronic condition like Joe called Chronic Urticaria. Only my condition is triggered by cold temperatures. (Cold Urticaria). I have been looking for answers to help with my condition and Fat sick and Nearly dead film has inspired me to give this a go.

i will update you as I go

    wish me luck.

    Bernard

    • Bernard, welcome to JOJ and congrats on starting your juice fast this Monday! It’s going to be an awesome feeling once you start! Please keep me posted on your success and know that I’m always here if you have questions. I wish you all the best Bernard! Cheers!

  84. Thank you! I am excited to give it a whirl:-)

  85. Also where do I get good juicing recipes?

  86. Donnie,
Thanks for sharing this helpful site. I am going to start juicing on the 6th oh January after my family and I get back from vacation. My question for you (so I understand this correctly) is I only juice 3 times a day and don’t eat any food, right? Then I also drink water throughout the day to right? I am looking to lose 15 pounds and am excited to give this a try! Not only would I like lose weight but I want to increase my energy level as well:-). Thanks for your time and all your help!

    • Misty, welcome to JOJ and congrats on deciding to start a juice fast. You’ll have a juice whenever you feel hungry. You may only have 3 juices or you may have 6 juices. Just remember that hunger is how your body tells you that it needs nutrients so don’t ignore it! Also, no solids during your fast! Keep me posted on your success Misty and know that I’m always here if you have questions. Cheers!

  87. I have high blood pressure, and I am overweight. I am thinking of juicing to help loose weight and bring down my blood pressure, although I am on blood pressure medicine is it safe for me to juice, and for how long could I do so.

    • Stuart, I had very high blood pressure and was on medication before I started. My blood pressure was normalized within three days of the fast. Don’t stop taking your medicine though. You may want to schedule a check up with your doctor or monitor your pressure daily in intervals so you can get an idea of how your blood pressure is on and off the meds while you are juicing.

I’ve seen people juice as long as 80 days. Andy juiced 80 days. You can usually find him on the forums. He’s got a great wealth of knowledge and understanding of juice fasting. I’m always here if you have questions Stuart. Cheers!

  88. Hey there I’m going to start a 20 day juice cleanse and detox! I have lost 73 pounds on my own through exercise and clean eating! I’ve been struggling with trying to lose the last 25 pounds! Is it safe to exercise while juicing only? I’m starting my cleanse in January! :)

    • MissMandy, welcome to JOJ and congrats on losing 73 pounds through exercise and healthy dieting! I’m sure you will lose that last 25lbs easily on the juice fast. It’s best to let your body rest and recover during the first 3-5 days as you’ll be going through detox. But since you’ve been eating clean you can probably maintain your exercises. Just listen to your body and don’t over exert yourself. Take it easy the first few days so you can adjust to the juice. I wish you all the best MissMandy! Keep me posted on your success! I’m always here if you have questions!

  89. Hi my name is John i weight 310 pounds i have tried everything to lose weight and it just keeps coming back my question is with my weight is it safe to juice i usually eat no vegetables at all because of psychological reasons i guess but ive found i can tweak my juices to disguise at least in my mind not to taste like veggies my concern is if at all it puts a strain on your heat i dont want to juice to lose weight if its going to put strain on my heart thanks

    • John, I’m sorry for the late response to your comment. I’ve been taking a little time with family the past week. I hope all is well!

If anything John, it’s not going to put a strain on your heart but heal it and make it stronger. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel within the first week. I’m looking forward to hearing updates from you. Feel free to email me anytime and keep me posted. I wish you all the best! Cheers!

  90. hi! I start my juice fast tomorrow! :-) I met Joe Cross a few monthscago. Great man! :-)

    • Martin, welcome to JOJ and congrats on starting your juice fast! Joe is a great guy, I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him yet.

  91. Do you think it’s benefit in getting a colonic ?

  92. Exel4172

    Hey Donnie,

I will be starting my 7 day fast tomorrow and I wanted to know if it was ok to work out during this fast. I am in the Army so I really don’t have a choice of working out or not.

    • Exel, I’m sorry for the late response. While it’s okay to work out while juicing, it’s best to let your body rest and recover during the first few days of your fast. Get adjusted to the juice and then take your workouts slow. Don’t push yourself too hard and listen to your body. You’ll do great! Keep me posted!

  93. I need to lose 25 pounds in two weeks. Is it possible to lose that much using this juice diet??

    • Manasi, it is possible to lose that amount of weight with in that time frame. Just stick to it and the weight will come off! I wish you all the best!

  94. Av been doin a lot of exercise 4 d past 1 week ad ma clothes r all big.am in africa, nigeria 2 b prescise,ow do I goo abt d juice fin cuz some fruits u mentioned r not dia

  95. Hey Donnie, Love this sight. Thanks. My goal is 10 pounds and I need your help. I am 46 years old and love to work out but at this point I am no longer able to I had a bad Hip Replacement and can no longer continue physical exercise. NONE I am on Penicillin for the rest of life. I love juicing every morning the norm, spinach ,kale ,ginger, carrots, almonds, celery.I cant flush all the medication out of my body but need to get this weight I gained during this procedure. I was not able to walk or bare any weight for 9 weeks. It is now 6 months. I need your advice, I have got to get this weight off.
    Please respond.

  96. Hi Donnie,

First off, I wanted to say thank you for this wonderful website! It’s inspired me to go on a juice diet after all the information you have posted. I started 3 days ago but couldn’t really get to doing a full juice diet due to having friends over so I’ve been having a small meal a day with 3-4 juices and lots of water. I was just wondering, how many calories average are in these juices? I’m debating whether I should continue to have a small meal with my juices, or go full juice. My goal is to cut down on my bad eating habits and decrease caloric intake, hoping it would help me shed some weight as well as become healthier, but I LOVE to eat and my stomach will hate me if I go a full week without any solid food, haha! I’m thinking 1500 calories a day combined with exercise should help me lost weight steadily and eat healthier. Any advice will be appreciated :)

    • I read some place that a pound of veggies 100 calories and 300 for a pound of fruit. I still can’t bring myself to nut eat something after 5 weeks.

  97. Hello! I was just wondering if I could get your opinion on the Breville JE900. I have read reviews of some people complaining that it did not juice leafy greens correctly. Others said they were afraid that the high speed was overheating all of the nutrients. However, the Majority of people raved about it. I would appreciate your insight. Thank you in advance! :)

  98. The first 3 days I juiced, I felt nasty with headaches. In fact, as soon as I had my first juice they started. The juice I made tasted gross. My apples were tiny which I didn’t realize being new at this. Each of the first three days I was starved and had to eat. As soon as I ate the headaches went away. Now I’ve been juicing for over a month, make better tasting juice, but I eat so I’m not fasting. I’m thinking of fasting but I was starving. I juiced four times a day. Now I juice 2-3 but I eat. I drank tons of clean water. I have to cook for my husband which doesn’t help the starvation. What can I do so I don’t feel nasty and starved?

    • Joanne, you’re not starved. Starvation is a lack of nutrition. Hunger is how your body tells you that it needs nutrients. Cravings are when your mind is telling you to eat out of habit, boredom, or for the taste and enjoyment of it. You’re experiencing cravings and not hunger as you get plenty of nutrition while on the juice. If you’re hungry then just have more juice. It’s simple and will work if you stick to it and can get over the cravings.

You will go through detox for the first few days. Some people don’t experience any bad symptoms except cravings. Just stick to it Joanne. You can do anything for a week if you really want to. It’s hard when you have temptations such as having to cook. Tell your husband to fend for himself for the first few days till you get the hang of it. You can do this Joanne and I wish you all the best! I’m here if you have any questions.

      • I’m still hungry after four juices, tons of water, and tea. It’s coming from my stomach not my head so I don’t think it’s cravings. I just had my 4th drink. Is it that much of a difference if I juice all day and stop the detoxing with a few raw veggies at 5 pm each day? I did this last month for three days and took off 5 pounds. I started juicing for health reasons not weight loss so much. I am healthy just ensuring I stay that way. Tomorrow is 5 weeks I’ve been juicing with food. It has made a huge difference on my gums, teeth, skin, energy, and mood. Is it really nessasary to go without one small meal each day? I was a smoker and I started vaping. Because of juicing I was able to lower the nicotine extremely fast and I’m not a smoker any more. I detoxed the nicotine out of my body. I also have taken sleeping pills for years but not anymore. I fall a sleep so easy but I’m up at 4 am. I’ve quit all sugar and use stevia not the processed powdered stuff. I’m growing it. I do drink one cup of black coffee each morning. After that it’s juice., herbal tea, and water. Once I started juicing everything has changed. I rode my bike 16 miles. I have so much more energy. I canned 10 quarts of tomatoes since I’m getting to know the produce guy and he gives me his left overs cheap so he doesn’t have to haul them.

        • W hat about fat? There isn’t any in the veggies.

  99. Hi Donnie.. Let me start by saying that I love your site.. It’s so informative and motivating! I love that you take the time to answer everyone’s questions. I feel I’m the definition of a fat skinny girl… I’m 5’3 and 110 lbs.. I know that sounds average but I feel like my arms are very thick and my love handles make me very self conscious.. I usually eat very healthy and exercise 6-7 days a week.. 3 days hot power sculpt yoga and 3-4 days HIIT treadmill, elliptical, rowing, and sit-ups.. I’ve been working out like that for about 6 weeks now.. I feel like I build muscle very fast especially in my legs and arms.. Therefore I now have that “bulky” frame.. Like big muscles under a layer of fat making me not able to fit any of my jeans and my tops feel so tight.. I hate to work out so hard just to be getting even bigger than I was originally.. I really want to have those great sculpted arms.. I know I won’t tho until I get rid of that layer of fat.. I’m on day 3 of juicing.. I make variation of mean green 3 times daily.. So far I have not been hungry at all..I hope to go as long as I can.. I just miss the taste of yummy food. I’m trying to juice to lose that stubborn layer of fat all over my body.. I have not weighed myself at all but so far I just feel and look the same..I’ve been taking it easy and only doing the power sculpt yoga, no HIIT cardio to give my body some rest.. I know it’s much easier to lose a lot of weight when a person is “bigger”.. But me being pretty small to start with, do you think it’s even possible for me to lose 10 lbs by just juicing? I’m determined to keep juicing until I lose that layer of fat so that my muscles can actually show.. What else do you think i can be doing?

    • Kati, I think it’s well within your reach to lose those 10 pounds. Give it a go for 7 days and then start incorporating a few solid fruits and veggies into your diet. If you’re feeling fine after the 7 days you may continue on to 14 days. I’m sure after 14 days you’ll have hit your goal if you stick to it. I’m positive you’ll lose that 10 pounds quicker than you think. Make sure you are having juices when you feel hungry and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Keep your workouts easy and don’t push yourself too hard. Keep me posted and let me know how things go over the next few days Kati. I’m always here if you have any questions.

  100. Can I use a Vita Mix instead of a juicer?

  101. Hi. I’m going to start juice fasting tomorrow for four days then eat little things on Thursday because my friends are coming then I’ll start again for 2 weeks at least. I’ll give you results every week >

  102. I am thinking about juicing to lose baby weight plus some- I don’t know where to start… help

  103. Hi Donnie

I have been juicing for 24 hours and have lost 1.2kgs.. is this normal?? (not that I am complaining). I have heard a lot about “water weight” would this be water weight? I have been drinking heavily for the past few years and my eating has been up and down (good and bad). I have a couple of kilos I would like to drop before the Summer months. Today I am feeling good and enjoying the juice, I am tempted to have something small for lunch (I miss chewing!!).

    • Nic, it’s most likely stuff that’s been stored in your intestines from previous meals, water weight, and fat. Don’t eat any solids, just stick to your juices. If you have to chew something then sugar free gum will be your friend. Keep me posted on your fast. I’m always here if you have any questions.

  104. I work 12 hour shifts 7a-7p at least three times a week. What would be the best way for me to do a juicing diet with my crazy hours. I read somewhere else that the juice should be dranked immediately after making it. My juicer is to big to take to work, do you know of any small portable juicers? Thanks in advance.

    • While juices are best when you drink them right away, that doesn’t always work for all of us. It’s okay to make your juices in the morning and take a few to work with you. Just keep them in airtight containers and store them in a refrigerator until you’re ready to drink them. Drink your first juice fresh, take a few to work with you, and when you get home you can have your last juice fresh. Let me know if you have any questions Denise.

  105. I’ve been juicing for six says, but currently have the flu. Should I stop for a few days and up my calorie intake. I’m feeling very weak,

    • If you’re feeling weak and have the flu then you may want to start including some fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet until you start to feel better. If you still feel bad after a few days, see your doctor Vanessa. Keep me posted, I hope you feel better soon.

  106. I’ve been juicing for 4 days and lost 5 lbs! But today I ate a chicken wing with a few fries. Have I messed up? How will this affect my weightloss?

    • Crystal, how could you eat that after 4 days of successful juicing? I know it happens but you need to control that urge to eat while on the fast. You’re body loses weight by getting rid of toxins in the body. It’s not going to happen if you are putting toxins back into it. Get back on the juice Crystal. It may slow your weight loss down for a day while it passes through your system but you should be fine if you hop back into your fast. Don’t worry about it, don’t think about it and enjoy your juice :)

  107. Hi Donnie,

I have been hearing a lot about juicing, and the great things is does when it comes to weight loss. I am very interested in starting the juicing process, but am not sure how much vegetables to use or which ones are best. Can you please give me a few examples of which ones to use, and the amounts? Thank you !

    • Mercedes, read through the site, it’s loaded with information on what you need to do, how to do it, and even has recipes, plans, and shopping lists. Let me know if you still need more info.

  108. What do you think about taking phetermine while juicing?

    • Crystal, unless it’s prescribed by your doctor it may not be in your best interest to take that while on the juice fast. I’d like you to read the Adverse effects section on wikipedia for phentermine:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phentermine

You should ask your doctor about taking this along with juicing. But I’m willing to bet that you’ll see more results, faster results, and none of the side effects if you juice as opposed to taking phentermine to lose weight. Just ask yourself what’s more natural and more healthy for you not just in the short term but in the long term as well.

  109. Hi Donnie,
Ok, I took the orange out of the juice and my acid has been greatly reduced. U were correct, it was the orange! Since I had been juicing for a week and had built up so much acid, I felt sick so I went ahead and went off the juice for a couple days and am getting ready to get back on track. I tasted the juice I was originally doing (celery, cucumber, spinach, apple, orange, carrot, lemon), but without the orange, it did not taste nearly as good. This is my next question- I really want to lose weight immediately, this is a huge priority. What is the best recipe to use for me to kick start this weight loss and have great results? I will not b using any oranges. Thanks so much!!!

    • Honestly, the best recipe I’ve used is my variation of the mean green that you can find on the 3, 7, and 14 day plans. It’s very veggie oriented and has a minimal amount of fruit. It’s a great juice to help you with the weight loss. Just remember, as long as you stick to the 80:20 ratio of veggies to fruits, you will lose weight. That is your best bet for quick weight loss. I’m always here if you have questions.

  110. What do you think about the Jack Lalanne power juicer?

    • I’ve never used the Jack Lalanne but have heard both pros and cons about it. Try it out and let me know what you think about it Crystal.

  111. First of all, what a kind person you are! You’re responses are always so gracious and kind…. Thank you!

So here is my question …I just finished a 1/2 a**ed first day of juicing, trying a few different things including a blended green smoothie (beauty detox smoothie) for breakfast and lunch. Can I combine blended smoothies to get the same results? Or should I only juice? You say 4-6 16-20oz servings, so to give me a goal… Would 80oz be sufficient? And how much water in addition to the juice?

    Thanks in advance!
PS my goal is to lose 10 lbs and be more healthy
PSS is wine considered juice??? 😉

    • Suzanne, thank you very much!

You won’t get the same results if you include solids. Yes, smoothies are considered solids as they use the pulp and fibers from the fruits and vegetables. If you want results then stick to the juices and let them work their magic! It will be worth it! 80 ounces would be sufficient. Anywhere between 64-120 ounces is normal. Drink water directly after a juice and also have some between juices. Water helps with absorbing the nutrients, and it also helps with the detox process.

      I don’t think you’ll have a problem losing that 10 pounds Suzanne.

As much as I enjoy a good Bordeaux, wine is not the type of juice to have on a juice fast 😉

  112. Hi,
I’ve been stalking your website for the past 2 months. Your website has given me a lot of inspiration. I finally went and bought a juicer yesterday. I will be starting my first 10 day juice fast on 10/10/13. I had my thyroid removed in 2009 and have been battling with my weight since then. I’m always tired and feeling bad about myself. I am looking forward to getting my life back. I can do this!

    • Welcome to JOJ Lita! Congrats on buying your juicer and getting ready to start your 10 day juice fast! It’s going to be a wonderful experience for you! Keep me posted and know that I’m here if you need me.

  113. I see that I should start the day with 1/2 lemon with 12-16 oz of warm to hot water. How important is the temperature? For some reason, I don’t know, I’m not able to drink warm-hot water, makes me throw up. Is it ok to drink cold water w/lemon to start the day? I am really enjoying your site. I’m learning lots and can’t wait to get started! Thank you for all the wonderful information and taking the time to answer questions!

    • Kendra, warm water is more easily absorbed and processed as opposed to cold water. Start off with 8 ounces instead and chug it down Kendra. It will really get you ready for the day! Keep me posted on how your fast turns out. I’m here if you have any questions.

  114. Hey how are you
When you juice do you eat other foods or veggies or fruits or completely juicing? Also do you have to exercise as well i want extremely healthy results. One more question I wanted to do ALLI the weight loss pills with this is a weight loss pill and juicing a bad combination? Please help Donnie

    • Antanisha, when I fast I go strictly juice. When I come off of my fast I’ll start to include solids. I didn’t exercise at all on my first fast but if you hit a plateau with your weight loss, exercise is good way to keep losing the weight. Again,

Don’t take any “weight loss pills” while doing your juice fast!

“Alli promotes weight loss by decreasing absorption of fat by the intestines, which reduces the number of calories you absorb.” This might work in moderation with an unhealthy diet if you maintain bad eating habits. If you take this while on a juice fast it’s completely pointless as you’re not digesting anything nor are you eating anywhere near the amount of fats to make it worthwhile.

Weight loss pills aren’t the answer! Just do the juice and you’ll see that is all you need! You’re going to do great and I can’t wait to hear your success story in the near future! Keep me posted.

  115. Donnie,
Also, I heard that Lemons r highly alkaline, yet Im having this acid. Is this Accurate? Thanks again! Ali

    • I’m going to take a guess and predict it’s the orange that’s causing it. Read my other comment and try that out first.

  116. Donnie,
I’ve been doing the juice u had listed on the forum: apple, orange, celery, 1/2 lemon, cucumber, carrot. I have really bad acid in my stomach and chest now… my stomach is burning, should I remove the lemon? I’m not sure how to fix it. But it’s pretty bad. Thanks

    • Ali, I would suggest drinking plenty of water immediately after you consume a juice. This will help dilute it some. If you’re still having trouble try removing the orange completely or replacing it with another granny smith. If this still doesn’t help then try removing the lemon and see if you have better results. Keep me posted!

  117. Hi! I’m thinking about starting juicing. 3 years ago I got really sick and was put on a crazy amount of steroids. I put on 90 lbs in 3 months. I really need to lose the weight for health issues. I’m worried about juicing because I don’t like fruits and veggies and I am worried I won’t like the flavor. Any suggestions to get started for people with picky taste? Thanks!

    • Kendra, what’s more important, losing that weight you’ve put on or flavor that you taste for a minute while consuming a juice? The flavor is something you can adapt, change, and get used to. You will do fine if you focus on your health Kendra. You’ll have to experiment with a few juices and see which ones work best for you. Keep me posted. I’m always here if you have questions.

  118. Hi Donnie,
I just started juicing yesterday, my father in law bought me a juicer about 6 yrs ago and I thought wow another thing to clutter my counter! Needless to say it stayed in the box in the garage. Well I have been laid up due to my herniated discs and not been able to go to the gym. I have probably gained about 10 lbs in a month ( not helping my back pain). Frustrated and realizing being overweight is causing extreme stress on my bones I decided to try juicing. I know certain veggies and fruits have proven to reduce inflammation, well we will see. I just watched the video on fat sick and nearly dead and that really inspired me. Wish me luck
    ,

    • Robin, congrats for deciding to do a juice fast. You are going to feel amazing in a few days! I have herniated discs that is causing sciatica. I was supposed to get a surgery done for it before I started juicing. The pain is now very manageable now and I decided not to do the surgery. It’s amazing what a healthy diet can achieve for you. Let me know if you have any questions.

  119. I wanted to try juicing and now my husband and I have been doing it for the past 3 weeks off and on! It really does energize you! We have been missing so much all of these years, wished we started years ago! We do it for weight loss, like the mean and green one! They have so many recipes on line or the have alot of books that explain alot about it! We both love it! Our taste buds are changing and don’t like anything salty, so that must me a sign of cleansing toxins or just plain eating healthy!

    • Lorraine, that’s fantastic! It’s amazing how much juicing not only changes your health but your habits, tastes, and much more. Keep at it, it only gets better over time. I’m always here if you have questions Lorraine.

  120. Hi Donnie,

Today is the first day of my juice fast. I have been exhausted all day and still am, but I have stuck to it.

    • Congrats on starting your juice fast Ali! Stick to it, it’s only going to get better! Keep me posted and let me know if you have any questions.

  121. Oops, this was meant to say HI Donnie,

I prepped juices yesterday for 2 days. I love the V8 juice I made without all the sodium. Tastes fresh. I’m doing this for weight loss and just to be healthier. I”d ultimately like to do a 15 day or 60 day juice cleanse to restart everything. Do you think adding protein powder is an okay thing to do? I worry about lack of protein…

  122. Hi Donnie, I did fruits n veggies yesterday & today. Starting the juice tomorrow. I’ve never done anything like this, I’m scared it will b too difficult to stick to & I won’t b able do it! I’m all prepared with my juicer n fruit, just still working on my confidence! Thanks for all ur input!

    • Ali, there’s nothing to be scared about. It’s your health so go into it with confidence! You can do it Ali! I’m here if you have any questions.

  123. Thank u!

  124. Thank u for the response Donnie. I bought the breville juice plus. I started eating fruits and veggies today. Do I have to do that for an entire week before starting the juice fast? Thank u again, Ali

    • Ali, it’s good to go for at least 2-3 days on fresh fruits and veggies before you start your juice fast. You don’t have to go a full week. It’s just to help your body adjust to the upcoming juices. You’re going to do great Ali! Keep me posted on your success and let me know if you have any questions along the way.

  125. Hi Donnie,
R u still juicing? When I looked at the forum it looks like things were from July, I’m not sure how to find more current threads.
Also, I need to lose about 60 pounds. In the past the only thing that worked for me was Atkins. No carb/ no fruit. I’m very scared to try juicing because I’m scared the fruit will actually make me gain weight.
I would like to try it, where do I start? I saw that u told a lady in this post to change all of her juices and gave her a link, but it didn’t take me anywhere but the home page of forum. What r the best recipes for losing weight ASAP and getting this thing really going? Also, can I make my juices in the morning and take to work? And, what is the best juicer? I don’t have one and need to get one immediately so I can start this. Right now I have massive brain fog. Thank u(:

    • Ali, I juice on and off every few weeks. I haven’t organized any group fasts in a while but there are plenty of people on the forums currently juicing and starting their own fasts. My goal with the forums was to draw people together and give people a means to find other juicers to juice with. Starting the group fasts was a great way to do that and I’m happy that people are starting their own groups with their own fasts. I will be starting a few group juice fasts up before the end of the year though.

The forum gets plenty of activity each and every day Ali, you should hop on in there and introduce yourself. There are always people juicing so just jump right in!

Why do you think the fruit would make you gain weight Ali? It’s the opposite really. If you follow the plans laid out here at JOJ, you will lose weight. There’s not any “best recipe” for weight loss, it’s the whole act of juicing in itself and following through that is the trick to weight loss.

You can make your juices in the morning and bring them to work with you. I did that for a while and it worked out great! As far as the best juicer just take a look at http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers/ and you’ll see three really good ones all within different price ranges. They all work great and I’ve used each and every one of them.

Just do as much reading as you can Ali, read every here at JOJ that you can and you’ll have a great understanding of what a juice fast is, how it works, and how to do it! Let me know if you have any questions Ali.

  126. Hi Donnie. I have been thinking about juicing for weight loss but from reading some negative sites, I changed my mind…until NOW. I have about 60 lbs to lose after gaining from a medication. Thank you for all the info you provided and I’m excited to get started soon.

    • Natalie, congrats on deciding to start your juice fast. The best thing you can do is to get yourself informed on it. Read through the site and most importantly, read through the forums here at JOJ to see what real people are experiencing while on their fast. I can’t wait to hear your success story Natalie, keep me posted and know that I’m here if you have any questions throughout your fast.

  127. You are such an inspiration! I am all geared up to start tomorrow morning. I am going to start with a 7 day fast.
I have started weaning myself off coffee this weekend.
Thank you for putting together such a informative site.

    • Ivy, congrats on starting your 7 day juice fast. Keep me posted and let me know how things turn out. I’m always here if you have any questions.

  128. First off..love this blog! It’s so informative! I was just diagnosed with PCOS and started medication that has caused me to break out terribly and just leaves me feeling bleh. I want to try juicing to cleanse and of course lose weight (what woman doesn’t want that)I don’t have a juicer and don’t want to break the bank (hello..college student) Is there a way to use a blender or even a magic bullet instead of buying a really expensive juicer and still get good cleansing/weight loss results?

  129. I can’t wait to start my juicing cleanse, as soon as I buy a juicer! I plan to stick to juicing, once I get started…

    • That’s great Mary! Keep me posted and let me know when you get started. I’m here if you have any questions throughout your fast.

  130. Hi I just started. I have 120oz juice fod breakfast, and lunch and a protein shake with frozen fruit, almond milk, and chia seeds for dinner. I do snack on nuts and raisins. Will I lose weight? I haven’t weighed yet lol. Great site by the way!

    • Angela, you lower your chances of weight loss when you include solids into the juice fast. If you want the best results then lose the protein shake, frozen fruits, almond milk, chia seeds and don’t snack on any nuts or raisins. This will up the amount of weight you lose big time. Let me know what happens. I’m here if you have any questions.

  131. Hi there, i know it’s recommended to drink 4-6 juices a day, but i was wondering how you recommend to space them out? With 3 juices it’s easy to say breakfast, lunch and dinner, but when would be a good time for the other juices? I realize that it is up to my body’s signals to tell when i need juice, but recognizing those signals is a really tough thing for me, and I’m sure it gets easier with time; but for now would you be able to give me a rough estimate of a good plan for drinking juices?

    • Haylee, if you’re having trouble telling when you are hungry then just space out your 4-6 juices every 2-4 hours. If you’re not hungry after 2 hours, then don’t force a juice down. If it gets to be 4 hours and you still can’t tell, then have a juice. This will get your body used to the juices and you’ll be able to tell when you’re hungry. Let me know if you have any questions.

  132. I am on Day 11 of a juice fast. Going for 30 days. So far it’s pretty easy. Instead of doing all green. I do green all day and a pressed Almond milk at night. What do you think about the lost of muscle and juicing for an extended period of time. Thanks.

    • Mrs. Simmons, welcome to JOJ and congrats on day 11 of your 30 day juice fast. You are through the hard part already so the next 19 days will be easy for you.

You may wish to start a light exercise routine in a few days if you’re feeling up to it. Muscle can be put back on, but you’re body isn’t going to go crazy and drop too much muscle mass. As with any diet you will lose some muscle mass. It’s what you do after the fast that’s important. You want to stick to a healthy diet and exercise routine. Keep me posted on how things work out for you Mrs. Simmons. I’m always here if you have any questions.

  133. Hi Donnie,,,,, I really don’t like many fruits and vegetable,,,,,was wondering if oranges, lime and pinaapple will work fast for me,,,,,, or is the sugar content going to get in the way? And how many glasses of juice is one suppose to consume in a day? Thanks

    • Faith, keep in mind that you should stick to the 80:20 ratio of veggies to fruits while on the juice fast. While fruits are great, they are also high in sugar so you shouldn’t use too many of them in your juices. It’s best to have between 4-6 juices per day with each juice being around 16-20 ounces. Let me know how things work out for you. I’m here if you have any questions Faith.

  134. Do you have to juice for the 3 meals a day?

    • Emma, it’s recommended to have between 4-6 juices per day each consisting of 16-20 ounces. Read through the site and also browse through the comments and forums. You juice when you feel hungry enough to eat. Some people may have only 3 juices while others have as much as 6. It’s all a matter of listening to your body, and learning to listen to your body. Let me know if you have any questions Emma.

  135. Hello, I read your blog and also a lot of the comments, however I had a question. I work and go to school, and I heard if you juice you have to drink it within 15 mins is that true? I was hoping to juice in the morning or the night before so I can take it to school/work. Can you shred some light on this? If u have already answered this question I’m sorry I didn’t see it among all the replies.

    • Christine, it’s always best to drink your juices as soon as you can but that’s not always optimal when we have to go to work. You can make your juices in the morning and bring them with you. Just make sure you store them in airtight containers and keep them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to drink them. They will be fine if you do that. You want to make them in the morning as opposed to the night before because the longer a juice sits, the more likely it will lose nutritional value. So make them in the morning if you can and you should be fine throughout the day. Hope this helps shed some light on it for you. I’m here if you have any questions Christine.

  136. Hello Donnie,
Ive read many of the post on this site and I find it very motivating. I haven’t seen anything about juicing while breastfeeding. Can I do 100% juicing or can I do 50% of my meals in juice? I see it’s all healty ingredient, so it cant be harmful, right? I’m trying to lose weight in these two weeks. Any weight loss is welcomed.

    • Edith, it’s best to ask your doctors advice when going straight juice because when you go through the detox phase you will be releasing toxins throughout your body that will get into the milk. It’s best to include light meals and incorporate juice into your diet when nursing. I’m sure you will still lose weight if you keep your diet mostly fruits and veggies while incorporating some lean meats occasionally. Let me know if you have any questions.

  137. Great tips on juicing. Question: I travel alot for my job and go from hotel to hotel at times. I can’t take my juicer with me and find that I struggle at times to stay away from easy meals. I do try to eat salads when on the road but sometimes stray away from them after a long day at a client. What would you suggest for someone who travels alot and trying to stay on a weight-loss, juicing regiment?

  138. Hi there I just got my juicer and I’m on my 4th day And already feel better more awake and energized I was wondering if your juicing and working out you need protein to is it ok to juice and say eat solids like chicken and fish to will that still be work for weight lose or just stick to juicing and find a protein to put in it ?! Thanks

    • Gage, congrats on day 4 of your juice fast. I’m glad you’re feeling great! You can’t eat any solids while on the fast. If you’re just working out and exercising the protein in the juice will be enough. If you’re weight lifting and trying to build muscle then you may consider a protein supplement such as an unflavored protein isolate to add to your juices. You should work on hitting your weight goal first and then after a week or two start your exercise routines. This way your body can adjust and finish out the detox phase. During the first week it’s best to get as much rest as possible and not work your body too much. Let me know if you have any questions.

  139. Hey Donnie,
I’m on the 3rd day of my juice fast now, love your recipes and its not going so bad. I have a couple of questions. I only really crave food at night, during most of the day I don’t have the cravings, but around 8 or 9pm, all i can think about is food and it makes it hard to go to sleep even though Im drinking 6 16oz juices per day. My other question is, would it be ok to juice like tomato, spinach, and carrot or something similar and then heat it and add spices to make a soup? Thanks!
    Abe

    • Abe, I had the same problem and craved food at night. I wasn’t hungry but just craved food. It’s because eating a snack at night was a habit for me. Habits like that aren’t easy to break and it will take some time to get your body adjusted. You may consider taking a night time tea to help you sleep if things persist. Check in the recipe section of the forum. There is a post that has a few juice recipes that you can eat as a soup. Hope you enjoy!

  140. Great advice, thanks. I am on day two of my 30 day adventure or maybe 60 days depending on the results. I am 72 in. Tall starting at 255 lbs at about 20% body fat. I am in the military so I’m am getting really close to busting tape (going over my allotted bmi) my question is, what extra precautions should I use to avoid losing too much muscle as well as have sufficient energy for my rigorous pt every morning is adding some kind of protein allowed? At the same time I want to lose about 40-50 lbs during the next 60 days, with my current fast and exercise is that a plausible goal?

    • Longoria, congrats on day 2 of your juice fast! You may want to consider adding an unflavored protein isolate to your juices before and after pt. That will help make sure you aren’t loosing too much muscle and give you some energy to get through your pt. If you do that along with light exercise throughout the day, you’ll lose the weight at a good pace Longoria. Keep me posted and let me know how things work out for you. I’m here if you have any questions.

  141. Hello everyone, I am really excited to start my new journey of juicing, but I have a few questions I am 5’2 and 148 pounds I would love to lose around 20 to 25 pounds in two weeks, can that be possible ? I will also be working out around an hour per day (:

    • Lauren, anything is possible. Shoot for two weeks and see what happens and how much weight you lose. Remember to listen to your body as it’s best to rest and relax during the first 3-5 days of your juice fast. If the workouts are too much then just stop for a while. Let me know if you have any questions.

  142. I only get to go grocery shopping in the beginning of the month so if I buy all my friuts and veggies and juice is it ok to freaze some of it to make it last?

    • Carmen, it’s okay to freeze your produce and thaw it out before juicing. I know a lot of things will spoil soon so this will be your best option if you can only shop at the beginning of the month. I wish you all the best! Let me know if you have any questions.

  143. Hi Donnie,
I am on the end of day 3 of a 30 day juice fast. Been following your recipes and tried one of my own, it isn’t going too badly. I didn’t eat at all Day 1 (I drive all day at my job, so bathroom trips are prized occurrences). Question 1: Since I didn’t eat day one, is my body still on detox day 3? Question 2: I am 5’10”, 170lbs. Can I expect to lose about 20lbs? How much do you think I will gain back after if I continue doing paleo or raw afterwards? Question 3: Are Granny Smith apples better nutritionally? I have read they are easier on the juicer, but they are also more expensive! This blog is really helping me, I appreciate this site so much!

    Thanks,
    HW

    • Heidi, congrats on day 3 of your juice fast! If you didn’t eat anything during those three days you may still be on detox. The detox usually lasts 3-5 days depending on your previous eating habits. You’ll know when you’re off detox as you’ll start to feel really good when those toxins are out of your system. As far as weight I think 20 pounds is achievable. I doubt you will gain it back if you stick to making healthy choices in your diet. It’s only when you revert to previous eating habits that you’ll gain it back. Granny Smith apples are better because they contain less sugar. Less sugar means faster weight loss.

I’m glad you’re getting all the information you need for your juice fast Heidi. If you have any questions just let me know!

  144. Hi Donnie! Good day! I really want to try the juicing diet but I’m working 12hrs a day and how can I manage it? And can I still eat solids atleast on lunch? I will get marry in 1 year and I really need to lose 70 pounds.. please help me.. Thanks a lot! =)

    • And also Im doing a cardio workout every other day.. coz I want to be healthy and lose weight,, but i really want to add juicing as part of my diet.. thanka a lot donnie! God bless..

      • I would take 3-5 days and let your body adjust to the fast while you go through detox. After that, start doing your cardio and you’ll get some really good results!

    • Melissa, you can make your juices in the morning and take them to work with you as long as you store them in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator. No solids while on your fast. You have to let your digestive system rest during your fast. I wish you the best of luck, let me know if you have any questions.

      • thanks a lot donnie! appreciate it a lot!! yah , i will update you in my progress,, thank you so much again, =) =) =)

  145. using breville . only juices. on two different days I ate a handful of melon in the early evening. that will not happen again. juices consist of mean green with added carrots. d rikng twelve ounce serving 5-7 times a day with 4/5 16oz bottles of water throughout the day. juices made the night before due to my work it’s the only option I have

    • Mike, make your juices in the morning. Prepare everything the night before and have everything ready to juice in the morning. It will make sure that your juices are of much better quality.

  146. hi Donnie
this is my third time on a juice fast. I was reading some of the comments and noticed I was doing some things wrong. I have been drinking coffee and home brewed teas with artificially sweeteners and have eaten a couple pieces of fruit. th is time I started off weighing 254 lost 12lbs in the first week and have since only lost 3 in the last 4 days. that’s 15 lbs in 11 days . I need to lose another 45 lbs. I’m exercising s few times a week. if I cut out the caffeine and the occasional fruit how long of a juice fast do you think it would take me to lose that much weight?

    • Mike, are you only consuming the juices? You can’t have any solids whatsoever. Tea is okay but no sweetener and coffee is out. You should be sticking to an 80/20 ratio of veggies to fruits to make sure you aren’t including too much sugar in your diet. Are you also drinking plenty of water immediately after you drink a juice and throughout the day? It’s important to do this to help with the absorption of the juices. Also, make sure you are drinking at least 4 juices per day with each being around 16 ounces.

If your juices aren’t the consistency of water, then you are getting pulp into your juices. They shouldn’t be thick at all. One last thing, let me know what kind of juicer you are using. We will get to the bottom of this as I feel you should be losing more weight if you are sticking to the juices 100% and not eating or drinking anything else but water or plain tea.

  147. Hi Donnie,

I am currently on day 3 of my juice fast and i feel very weak and foggy. Is this normal? And how much weight do people lose on average during a 7 day juice fast? I’m a 20 year old male, and i weigh 170.

    • Chad, you’re still going through detox. That’s a very common symptom of detox and it will pass soon. Detox usually lasts between 3-5 days. As far as weight, the more you start with, the more you can expect to lose. At your weight of 170 I’m going to say you will lose weight but probably not so much as to make you look super skinny or anything bad. Just keep on eye on your weight and set your self a limit that you want to lose, or a limit that you don’t want to pass and then start incorporating solids back into your diet. Let me know how things progress for you Chad. I’m here if you have any questions.

  148. today is day 2 of 14 for me. yesterday went pretty good. I dont have a juicer so i bought Naked Juice and Bolthouse Farms. Are these good choices for my juice fast? I weigh 185 lbs. Lets see how much I lose in just 2 weeks!

    • Congrats on day 2 Jessie! I did an experiment where I juiced off of nothing but naked juice and store brand health juices for a week. It was a very poor alternative to making fresh juices at home. I only lost a total of 3 pounds and didn’t feel great like I normally do on a juice fast. The juices you get at the store are all pasteurized and that process kills off a lot of the nutritional benefits of them. You’re going to have a much better time and more success if you break down and get a juicer Jessie. Take a look at http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers to see what to look for when buying a juicer. All the juicers there can be purchased through amazon and they all work very well. Also, take a look at the refurbished links on amazon and you can get the Hamilton Beach juicer (Same one I first used) for as little as $32. Hope this helps. I’m here if you have any questions.

  149. By A way of an update i have been juicing now for just on a month and after an initial 5 days of juice only i now juice in the day and eat in the evenings, the evening meal includes salads fish the odd bit of chicken and turkey. when i started i was 17st 5 lbs and i now i am 15st 6 lbs so for me not far left to go now to reach my target of 15st, any more than that and i will need a lot of new cloths. Time wash my jeans on a very hot wash i think !

    • Congrats Tim! Those are fantastic results! I’m sure you will be down to 15st soon! Keep at it, it’s all worth it. Keep us updated on your status. You’re doing excellent!

  150. Thanks for all the helpful tips. Today is the first day of my 31 day juice fast, and I will be breaking my fast for the Following 30 days with a 90% raw diet.

    • Welcome to JOJ Monica Marie and congrats on day 1 of your juice fast! Keep me posted, I’m always here if you have any questions!

  151. I have been juicing for 10 days, i juice fasted for 5 days and am now just juicing for Breakfast and lunch, i am having a salad style meal in the evening and am drinking only Herbal tea whenever i fancy it. I have lost 16lb’s over the 10 days so far and feel better than i have felt for a long time. I want to loose another 10lbs and never want to feel like i did before juicing came into my life

    • Tim, congrats on losing 16 pounds over the first 10 days. You’ll continue to lose weight by including a few juices in your diet and sticking to healthy meals. Keep it up and you’ll stay on track! I’m here if you have any questions!

  152. Hi Donnie, me n my 16 year old daughter have decided to juice for 60 day’s. after four cs and my yougest being 8 months.
Can I still juice while breastfeeding and as I have a very big tummy and a cs hanging. What can I do to avoid loose skin?

    • Bimnatty, welcome to JOJ and congrats on deciding to do a juice fast with your daughter. I would have concerns as you are still breastfeeding. When you fast you will go through detox. During that detox period toxins will get released into your bloodstream and your milk. You may want to wait until you aren’t breastfeeding anymore to do your fast. You may want to visit your doctor and ask for advice too. If you want to start I would suggest adding in a few juices while eating raw fruits and veggies throughout the day. This will help to prepare your body for the fast and lessen the effects of the detox when you go full out juice. Keep me posted and I’m here if you or your daughter have any questions.

  153. Hello!
In my opinion -juicing is the best idea if somebody wants to loose weight- I am already happy with the results- after 6 days I lost 6lbs then on Sunday had normal BBQ food- was worry that will be sick or something but it was OK just….could not eat as much as I used to- so its great, now from Monday I am juicing again an planning to do this routine for 2-3 weeks, hope that will work for me…not 60 days with no break but 6 days juicing and 1 day normal food….by the way- how often you could do this juicing diet anyway?

    • Aga, that’s a great routine to get into. A few days on, and a day off. You’ll notice a difference in the quantities that you eat when you are on solids compared to before your fast. I usually fast for 3-7 days every few weeks and it’s been working great. Congrats on your fast and keep on juicing Aga! I’m here if you have any questions.

      • Thanks for your answer Donnie- all your tips are very helpful :)

Good luck to everybody who is juicing or thinking about to start- it is really working!!!

        • You’re very welcome Aga! I’m happy it’s working out for you! I’m here if you have any questions.

  154. Hello,
I’m wanting to juice but I am about 4.5 months pregnant. I am about 60 lbs overweight and have lost about 10lbs so far this pregnancy, which my Dr has no problem with at all. I was wondering if it is safe to only juice since it has a lot of fiber and proteins? I’m not looking to lose all 60 lbs while pregnant but I’m also trying to not put any weight on (at least drastically)

    • Morgan, I would recommend you hold off on a full juice fast until after your pregnancy due to the fact that toxins are released into your bloodstream and that can affect your baby. You should ask your doctor for his/her opinion though. I’m here if you have questions.

  155. Hi Donnie,

Thanks for all of your awesome information. Today is my first day of juicing FOR REAL. I tried once before without being educated about it (using a Vitamix-yuck!) and obviously didn’t have much luck.

    Two things I’m noticing…

I have a severe “addiction” to diet coke. I’m having trouble resisting that today, probably because of withdrawing from the caffeine.

Also, psychologically I feel like my brain is not processing the fact that I’m obtaining nutrients because I’m not actually chewing/eating. I keep thinking that I NEED to take a bite of something/eat something. I won’t do that because I’m comitted to juicing, but did you find it took some time to kind of get over the “need” to chew and eat while you were just on juice? Any suggestions how to get past that?

After how many days do you think I will have measurable weight loss on my scale? That will keep me going for sure!

I know I’ve only been juicing for six hours and haven’t given it much time, but I am craving success this time. Thanks for all of your hard work and information.

    • Lanie, congrats on your first day of juicing! The caffeine withdraw can be hard. Try have an occasional tea and see if it helps. As far as the psychological aspect of chewing I understand completely what you’re going through. Try some sugar free gum, after a juice. It used to help me get over the fact I wasn’t chewing something while taking in nutrients. Also, try some of the frozen juice recipes I have in the recipe section. Those are fantastic and all 100% juice!

You’ll always continue to lose weight when you’re on the fast but one thing I wouldn’t recommend that you do is weigh yourself every day. That scale can be so motivational, but it can also be very demotivating too. Check your weight every few days but most importantly judge your success by how you feel, how you look, and how your clothes fit. You’ll succeed Lanie! I can’t wait to hear back from you on your success! Keep me posted and I’m here if you have any questions.

  156. Well Donnie, I first started to juice due to the wieght gain because of a curtain med my doc put me on. As time goes on I’m growing to love doing it not just because of the wieght loss but of how I’ve been feeling also. I feel lighter, more energized & happier. So I may continue on my juicing course for some time yet. Thank you again Donnie for all that you’ve done for me but also for every one that you have helped to better themselves!!!

    • Tammy, thank you for your awesome comment. I do my best to help. I’m glad juicing has had a positive effect on you. It does so much more than help us to lose weight. Just keep doing what your doing Tammy, it’s working!

  157. I’m so excited to start juicing. I just hurt my back and can’t exercise, seeing as how I can barely walk. Doctor says I need to lose weight for my back to heal. My ultimate goal is to lose 65-70 pounds. I hope juicing can help!

Should I juice all 3 meals or eat one solid meal a day? I’ve heard of people doing both. Also what is good to snack on if I get hungry between juices?

    • Sarah, I’m sorry to hear of your injury. If you want to lose weight the I would suggest you stick to just juice. If you have 4-6 juices per day, drink plenty of water, and don’t eat any solids the weight will start to fly off and you’ll be feeling fantastic in no time! Let me know if you have any questions Sarah!

      • Awesome! Thanks. I ordered my juicer last night so hopefully ill be able to start by Monday. So if I get hungry between breakfast, lunch and dinner juices I should just “snack” on another juice?

        • Sarah, thanks for you comment and congrats on ordering your juicer and deciding to start a juice fast! You can have between 4-6 juices per day with each being around 16-20 ounces. I find it best to enjoy a juice whenever you feel hungry. Let your body tell you when to have a juice and it will do amazing things for you! I’ll be here if you have any questions Sarah.

  158. Well Donnie, for now I plan on two more weeks, then perhaps more after that depending on how much I lose. I still need to lose around 30lbs I feel. My doctor had me try lyrica for my back pain & in that process I gained 50lbs. So I would like to lose that & then some. But when I started juicing for the first time I never dreamed I would grow to love it the way I do now. Plus the awesome benefits on how I feel doing it is just beautiful. Thanks again for all your great information, you really are to thank for my success!! May God continue to bless you

    • Thank you for your wonderful comment Tammy! I’m glad everything is working out for the better! You’re doing an outstanding job of juicing and committing to a new way of life and health. Great things are in store for you if you continue to reach for your goals Tammy. I’m happy I was able to help you. As always, I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  159. Hi Donnie, your knowledge & support has helped me tremendously, I started juicing about a week & a half ago & I have lost roughly 15lbs I can’t tell how thankful I am for your help & support. Also I do have lots more energy than I’ve had in a long time, & absolutely love juicing for my health. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!

    • Tammy, you are very welcome! Congrats on your success and your health! 15 pounds is a great accomplishment and you should be real proud of yourself. I’ll be here if you have any questions Tammy. How long are you going to juice for and what are your goals?

  160. Hi ! I was wondering if its okay to drink chai tea while juicing.

  161. My husband wants to lose upwards of 75 pounds but works sometimes 12 hours daily. How can I best set this up so he has good juice all day at work he will have one on the way out the door and up to three at work then one in the evening…..

    • Alishia, I’d send him with 3-4 drinks in the morning. If he’s working 12 hours definitely send a 4th juice just in case. He would need to keep them in a fridge, or at least an ice chest. So 1 drink on his way out the door, 3-4 for work, and a 5th or 6th when he gets home. He’s lucky he has you supporting him through this. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  162. Hi I just wanted to see if I could use the nutribullet?

  163. Hi Donnie! Yes- my caloric intake is definitely less than my normal intake (as I noramally eat loads of breads, milk, sweets, etc) juicing I prob intake 250 calories per glass? Ie bfast is strawberries, kale, pineapple. Snack is gazpacho recipe, lunch gazpacho again, snack citrus green, dinner green mostly.
I dont use carrots for all the drinks, but i do use 1-2 apples for most drinks. The strawberries (about 20 small ones) for bfast is the highest sugar intake. I’m not exercising – just normal physical activity with my 3yr old

  164. I have been juicing for 7 days and haven’t lost any weight yet ? I’m following all the basics- 20% fruit / 80% veggies 5 times a day (16oz ea). I’m about 25lbs overweight. I’m not cheating at all. Just wondering how lose some lbs bc I actually love juicing!

    • Crystal, tell me what your daily routine is. When you juice you are lowering your caloric intake to a point where your body is forced to lose weight due to a lack of calories. It makes no sense that you aren’t losing weight. Also, make sure you are weighing yourself in the morning after you use the restroom, and before you drink any water or juice. Not sure what the problem is, but let’s figure it out.

  165. Is it ok to drink green tea while juicing?

    • Selena, it’s okay to drink green tea but you should make sure it’s decaf. Green tea has a high caffeine content and you should avoid caffeine while on your juice fast. If you can’t get decaf, limit yourself to 1-2 cups in the morning or around lunch time and you’ll be okay. I’ll be here if you have questions.

  166. Hi All,

There is one thing that is incorrect about juiding, and that’s the concept of your body not working as hard to digest and avoiding toxins. The fiber from fruits and vegetables is what actually make it easier to digest these foods. Remember our bodies were biologically engineered for thousands of years to process these foods and so they do so with ease. Juicing removed the fiber and the ability to synthesize some of this energy. Toxins come from the air, our skin, and all foods. Again our body has a beautiful system in place to filter these. Juicing doesn’t help or hinder the body and doesn’t provide a detox. Juicing will help you lose weight because items you can juice are 99% fruits and veggies. Near doesn’t taste too good when juiced so people don’t do it. This is why weight loss occurs. You in essence become a raw vegan for as long as you juice. You could easily eat these gods without juicing.

    • Antony, I appreciate your argument but it’s flawed…

There is one thing that is incorrect about juiding (juicing), and that’s the concept of your body not working as hard to digest and avoiding toxins.
Antony, you’re wrong. Your body doesn’t work as hard to digest due to the fact that juice is absorbed and not digested.

The fiber from fruits and vegetables is what actually make it easier to digest these foods
Fiber doesn’t digest food… Fiber is the indigestible portion of food. Insoluble fiber is the type of fiber that is extracted during a juice fast. See Antony, there are two types of fiber and when your on a juice fast you still get 100% of your soluble fiber. Anyway, insoluble fiber only helps to accelerate the movement of food through your system. The fiber absorbs water as it moves through your digestive system, easing defecation and promoting clumping and bulking of your waste. Remember Antony, when you’re juicing you aren’t giving your body anything to digest.

Remember our bodies were biologically engineered for thousands of years to process these foods and so they do so with ease
I have to disagree here Antony, our bodies were not biologically engineered for thousands of years to eat processed foods, fast foods, and all the other garbage we as a human race eat. Just look at all the food related illness out there and how many people suffer from diabetes or obesity. Our bodies weren’t meant to eat in the capacity and rate that we feed it today.

Again our body has a beautiful system in place to filter these.
Again, our bodies weren’t made to handle the stress of what we eat today.

Juicing doesn’t help or hinder the body and doesn’t provide a detox.
Tell that to the thousands of people who juiced last month, lost weight, lowered their blood pressure, got off their medications, who are back to eating a healthy diet, and are feeling better than they have in years…

Juicing will help you lose weight because items you can juice are 99% fruits and veggies. Near doesn’t taste too good when juiced so people don’t do it. This is why weight loss occurs.
So let me get this straight.. you’re saying people lose weight because they are juicing mostly fruits and veggies that don’t taste good? You’ve obviously never juiced and don’t know what you’re talking about. Weight loss occurs because you are flushing your body with a high amount of nutrition. This creates a system of low toxicity in your body and allows your body to release it’s toxins (stored in fat). The toxins leaving your body allow the nutrients to balance your system and give you the nutrition you’ve been lacking. Also, juices taste amazingly good and almost everyone who I have helped juice agrees.

You in essence become a raw vegan for as long as you juice. You could easily eat these gods (goods) without juicing.
You don’t become a raw vegan, you make a choice to juice until you hit your goal and then reintroduce solids back into your diet. While you could just eat the raw foods Antony I highly doubt you would eat 2 apples, 1 cucumber, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1/2 lemon, a little ginger, and 4 stalks of celery between 4 and 6 times a day. You won’t get the health benefits of juicing by eating all that in a day. By juicing it however you will end up with 4-6 juices that are about 16-20 ounces each that are easily drinkable and extremely healthy.

Antony, I wish you would do some research into juicing instead of making assumptions and ignoring actual facts. Watch some documentaries, talk to some people who have actually juiced and succeeded, and maybe give it a shot so you can come into an argument with knowledge instead of your assumptions. I wish you the best of luck.

  167. I have another question too… can u add fiber to your drinks

    • Figgs, there is no need for fiber while on a juice fast. You aren’t consuming any solids so there is nothing for your system to digest. The whole point is to avoid solids and fiber of any kind. If you do have solids/fiber you aren’t on a juice fast as it kicks your digestive system back into gear. The juice fast works by not using your digestive system and allowing it to cleanse, giving you back the energy that was usually used for digesting. This in turn not just cleanses your digestive system but creates a symptom of low toxicity in your system. You system noticing this low toxicity is much more apt to release toxins (which are stored in fat cells) helping you to cleanse and lose weight while taking in all the nutrients you need. Just drink the juice, follow the fast, and you’ll be fine. There’s no need to add anything to your juices, it will only slow down the effect.

  168. Can you eat solid fruits n veggies while juice? I like to eat alot of salads n fruit salads. I love eating cucumbers with vingar.

    • Sorry Figgs, during a juice fast you can only have juice. No solids or it will interfere with the whole process.

  169. I want to start juicing asap..I have a vitamix machine. Is this ok to use for juicing?

    • Sandra, a vitamix will not work. You need to have a juicer. Any type of blender will not work as they do not separate the fiber and pulp out of the produce. Read through the juicing FAQ ( http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-faq ) as it highlights a lot of the questions you may have. I’ll be here if you still have questions. Keep me posted.

  170. I lost 17 lbs and it has been my first week of juicing. I plan to go another 10 days with a goal of losing 30 lbs. I feel great and have a ton of energy. The frist 2 days are hard mentally so stay strong.

    • Duval, that is really awesome! Congrats on losing 17 pounds so far. The next 13 will fall off fast! It sounds like you are doing amazing! Keep it up and keep me posted!

  171. Hi! My juicer comes next week. I want to lose a few pounds before I go to the beach in Juky. Should I juice all my meals and not eat anything solid? How many glasses per day? Any suggesting juices to make to lose weight fast? Should I add protein to my juices?

  172. Donnie, can we add slat n black pepper in juice?

  173. Hi Donnie, this is my first day juicing. I found this website and its really helpful. Someone told me I could only do it for 7 days but I read in one of the comments that I can do it up to 60 days. I want to try the 60 days but before that I wanna make sure I do it right. How many oz of juice do I drink a day and how many times?
    And, can I still exercise?

    • Paola, congrats on starting your juice fast! It’s an exciting and life changing experience if you stick with it. I met a lady who juiced for over 80 days, and a man who juiced for over 100 days. It’s safe, and it’s okay to do. The main thing you have to understand is that you are getting all of the nutrition you need on a juice fast, even protein. You don’t get insoluble fiber but it’s not necessary and you will get that when you go off of your fast and start eating solids again.

I typically go through 4-6 juices that are each between 16-20 ounces in size. It’s best not to set any certain times to juice, but rather just have a juice when you are hungry. Hunger is your body telling you that you need more nutrients. Cravings are different and not to be confused with hunger. If you have any questions just let me know. I’ll be here. Enjoy your juice!

      • Thanks alot Donnie! One quick question, can i drink V-8 vegetable juices?

  174. hi, i really want to start juicing for health issues but im a single mother of three toddlers and i would like to know if this is expensive to maintain.
    1) how much do i have to drink per serving and how much juice do i need per day for it to meet my energy needs?
2)roughly how much does it cost per week based on your experience to be on this fast?

    thanks for the motivation!
    looking forward for your response

    • Alexcia, based on my experiences it costs around $10 per day. Very inexpensive if you consider how much people spend eating out or even cooking in three or more times per day. Servings should be around 16-20 ounces and you should have 4-6 servings per day. I hope this helps.

      • THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT DOES HELP…. ALOT

        • Great Alexcia! Let me know when your ready to fast! I’ll try to get a group fast up and going for us!

  175. Donnie,

I want to juice for weight loss however, I would like to do replace my B-fast and lunch with a juice and eat a healthy low carb. low fat dinner. I’m scared of getting wobbly, sagging skin and lose muscle if I just juice. I’m looking to work out of course and want to drop about 50 lbs overall. Thoughts????

    Smiles,

    Mara

    • Mara, anytime you lose a large portion of weight you will lose a combination of fat, muscle, and water. I would suggest you juice and follow light exercises as that will not only help you lose weight but help you to shape and tone up. Don’t be scared of getting wobbly or sagging skin. That will fix itself with proper diet and exercise.

  176. Hi Donny! I rally enjoyed your article on juicing tips! Today is day 16 of juicing and I’ve lost 16lbs.!!!! That’s a pound a day! I feel so much lighter in my stomach and when reading a book in bed, I don’t feel as much under my chin as I felt 2 weeks ago! That alone is motivating. I think after my 60 total days, I’m going to not eat meat of any kind, for sure, and will definitely spend more time in my kitchen creating great, healthy, homemade meals!
Thank you for your inspiring ideas! This was a great article!
    Victor

    • You’re welcome Victor! Congratulations on going a full 16 days of just juice and losing 16 pounds! I bet you feel absolutely amazing! Thanks for the comment and keep juicing! I’d like to hear some updates on your juice fast so please keep me posted Victor.

  177. your*

  178. Ok then I start today :) our posts motivate me.

  179. I started juicing last week this is my second week but i slacked off this weekend so today I promised I wouldnt I just wanted to know if I could eat anythig while fasting or is just the juice?

    • Thanks for the comment Jennifer! When juicing you should stay just on juice! No solids as it will interfere with the process. Thanks!

  180. this was a great help, my waist is amazing now!

  181. Hi Donnie,
I was wondering, if you’re talking about the 20% fruits 80% veggies rule to maintain, is it ok to add one apple to each juice of the day, together with veggies like spinach, cucumber, celery, carrots, broccoli… Or should there be juices during the day that don’t contain any fruits? When do you consider a drink to be “too fruity”?

    Cheers!

    • Laura, it’s perfectly fine to add an apple to each juice in the morning. The 20/80 rule applies to each individual juice. So adding an apple to each juice is just fine. You should include a little fruit in each juice, just make sure not to over do it by making juices that are mostly fruit. Also, you have to take into consideration your goal for juicing. If your goal is to lose weight then you should limit your fruits to the 20/80 rule. Fruits are great for you, but they do contain a lot of sugar. So limiting that sugar will help you to lose that weight.

  182. There are good ideas in this article .. This site is one of my favorite

  183. Thanks for the tips, will use them
