3 Day Juice Fast Plan

3 Day Juice Fast Plan

The 3 Day Juice Fast Plan and cleanse is great for beginners and keeps in mind your goals to get cleansed, detoxed, and maybe even lose weight. You can achieve all of that and more if you follow the core of this plan. This 3 Day Juice Fast Plan is just that, a plan. You don’t have to follow it 100% word for word or meal for meal, but you should follow the core advice within it. A few things to keep in mind when following the 3 Day Juice Fast Plan.

First

If a certain recipe is unappealing to you, make substitutions that are similar. For example, if a recipe calls for Kale but you can’t get any Kale or just don’t like Kale, then replace it with Spinach or even Broccoli. It’s okay to replace, substitute, or change up the recipes.

Second

You should not eat any solids during this 3 Day Juice Fast Plan and cleanse. It defeats the purpose of it. So stay away from any solids, you’ll be Just On Juice for three days.

Third

If you get headaches, or strong cravings, it is normal. Just stay focused and stay on the juice. Make an extra Juice to drink if you feel like your about to cave in and eat something solid.

Fourth
Drink at least 16 oz of water after each juice meal. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

Fifth

Start each day off by juicing 1/2 lemon (peeled) and mix it with 12-16 ounces of warm to hot water. I do this as soon as I wake up each morning, it’s important to cleanse your digestive system and give you a good boost of energy.

Sixth

It’s recommended to have between 4-6 juices per day each consisting of 16-20 ounces. The below list is great to get you started with different juices. You can choose whichever juices you please while on your juice fast. The list takes into consideration you will try them all. So feel free to experiment while on your 3 day juice fast plan!

  1. My hubby and I planning to do 3 day juice plan, to get started. We’re finding that some of recipes produce a lot of juice, whereas some do not, ie, tomato bruschetta. If these recipes are designed to produce 2 meals, what do we do about the ones which don’t produce much ?

  2. Can you add chia seeds? does that count as a solid? I’m just looking to get some protein in there somewhere.

    • hey! Juicing breaks down foods to their micronutrients and amino acids and amino acids are the building blocks of protein. So if you do a short cleanse, you will technically be getting protein. (obviously not as much as you would form meat.) but you will totally be fine for a short time!

  3. I was thinking of juicing for detox and other health issues. I was told to drink/juice at least 5 or 6 times a day. now my busy day at work i cannot be making my juices. Can I make them ahead of time and keep it refrigerated? Would it make any difference if I make it fresh and refrigerate? or how long can I make the juice and keep it on a glass til it looses it’s taste or minerals/enzymes and all that stuff? Am I making any sense?

  4. It says on here that each helping should be between 16 and 20 ounces. What should I do if the helping is way less then recommended?

    Thanks Matt

  5. Can you use home canned tomatoes for juicing instead of fresh tomatoes? Also, is there any substitute for apples that would be just as effective?

  6. I just wanted to say thanks for the 3 Day juice fast plan. I have started my juicing adventures with my lady and we plan on recording our personal observations and feelings.

    Once again. Thank you!

If interested, you can view our findings in a few days at http://www.juicingdelights.com/

  7. Hi! My question is about the pulp waste. I am living in a developing area of China so my access to western gizmos (i.e. juicer) is limited. I bought the best I could, but I am getting way more pulp waste than I imagined. So my question is: is this normal, or a sign of poor equipment? Thanks!

    • you probably have a centrifuge fast juicer that doesn’t give as much juice as a slow press and it will expel a lot of pulp, you can use cheese cloth to squeeze out more juice from the pulp. Or use it in garden compost or make it into soup.
Or if you can get a slow press juicer, its much better and also easier to clean.

  8. Thank you so much for this reference guide! I have two questions, if anybody can provide a response, that would be great!

    1. It says 4-6 juices a day, do you just split your breakfast/lunch/dinner shakes and do half, later drink the other half?

    2. Can you prepare the lunch juice in advance in the morning and have it that day for lunch, if you are juicing during the week?

    Thank you in advance!

    • Hi Julie,

I have done a 7 day cleanse using these recipes and they make 2 servings (i.e. 2 portions of 16-20oz drnks). I drank half and half, however, the breakfast ones went down quicker. Be sure to drink a 20oz glass of water after to help your body absorb the nutrients and helps to ‘fill’ you up more.

As for preparing the juice in advance, I would not recommend this. The nutrients have a half life that increases rapidly once juiced and is thus best to drink fresh. I would pre pack my veggies all washed and ready for juicing in a 1lb freezer bag and take my juicer with me. This may seem odd but you get used to it and people are generally very interested and can be great positive re-enforcement.

You will know the benefits soon enough and if you can, buy organic vegetables!

      All the Best,
      Tom

      • Hello Tom

“these recipes and they make 2 servings (i.e. 2 portions of 16-20oz drinks)”

Are these 2 servings considered to be two separate Juice (counting 2 out of 6 juice) or does it count as one juice?

        For Example:
If I made the Morning Glory juice, with the 2 servings you mentioned above, would I have 4 juices left to drink for the day or 5 juices?

  9. Hi, I have been suffering from gastritis for a long time. I grew up to over eat and over drink sometimes. I am usually pretty healthy, just sometimes I binge on food and drinks. I do yoga 3-4times a week.

Could anyone tell me if it’s a good idea to start juicing while I am suffering from gastritis? I am taking Chinese medicine for it.

    Thanks,
    Leah

    • Leah, juicing would benefit you greatly. It will help to cure the over indulgence as well. Keep me posted on your progress please! I’m here if you need me. Cheers!

  10. Shoundell

Hello everyone, thank you for having this site. I have gained about 65lbs over 2yrs and really need to complete a 30-60 juice to jump start my health. I am planning to start 9/13/14. Would anyone wants to join me. If I can get 40 30lbs off before 11/27/14 I would be sooooo happy.

  11. Have anyone lost weight doing the cleanse? If so what is the estimated amount of weight?

    • Tay, every individual is going to be different. It depends on how much you start with, how long you juice, what you juice, and how well you stick to it. I’ve seen people lose anywhere from 5-25 pounds after a 7 day fast. Cheers!

  12. Just wanted to say great site, thanks for all the info.

  13. I receive asked a lot about the difference between your different kinds of diets, incredibly the difference amongst the paleo diet and the primal or caveman diet. There’s actually a great deal of mixed info out there on the internet. The Caveman Diet and The Paleolithic Age.
The caveman life-style, in Mr. Durant’s interpretation, involves eating large quantities of meat plus then fasting between food to approximate the lean occasions which his distant ancestors faced between hunts. Vegetables plus fruit are fine, but he avoids foods like bread which were unavailable before the invention of agriculture. Mr. Durant believes the human body evolved for a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, and his goal is to wean himself off what he sees as many millenniums of bad behavior.
There are some dangers with any diet. It is usually difficult to receive enough of several vitamins plus minerals whenever eating a limited variety of foods. All varieties of the caveman diet exclude all milk and dairy products. Because these foods are good sources of calcium it is actually possible which folks on the caveman diet could not receive enough calcium in their diet. Lack of calcium could lead to countless different condition plus conditions like osteoporosis and rickets. Anyone beginning this diet may wish To consult their doctor about whether taking a vitamin or supplement would enable them minimize this risk. Also such a low starchy carbohydrate consumption may result wellness difficulties such as lethargy plus fatigue due to low vitality.
On a Paleo diet, the dietary fat we choose is extremely important, nevertheless in the event you dial in the carb and protein sources, the fat almost takes care of itself. Many health woes are triggered by inflammation, the root of that is a lopsided ratio of monounsaturated omega-3 fatty acids to polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids. Paleo-friendly foods including wild-caught salmon, avocado, grass-fed beef and certain kinds of eggs are remarkable sources of omega-3s. By eliminating processed junk food you will radically lower the consumption of industrial-use vegetable oils, that are loaded with omega-6 fatty acids. A Paleo-style diet furthermore eradicates trans fats from the existence.
If you’ve been eating Paleo for several time, we have possibly have noticed several online resources which include recipes and meal planning ideas. Robb Wolfe, 1 of the pioneers of the Paleo diet, has newly come out with a book to aid we plan the food and saving time plus cash. There are also many sites, such as plus , which are focused on Paleo Diet recipes. The Early Bird Gets the Worm Fourth, you eat too much of the incorrect kinds of foods. To lose weight and achieve lasting fat loss, you could return to eating a all-natural diet synonymous to the type the ancestors ate. The Paleolithic diet usually enable we to do just that. Meet a ancestors and their ‘caveman’ diet Key Differences Between My Nutrition Plan and the Paleo Diet
So I discovered the caveman diet through Andrew Hyde and Craig Silverman Andrew said he’d lost like 15-20 pounds in a month and Craig was lookin superior too after beginning found on the Zone diet, so I was like what the hell, and started on this 12-step list Next regarding a month later I went strict for 30 days. That’s when the changes really began. The premise behind the diet is the fact that the bodies are genetically and evolutionary adapted to eating the foods of our Paleolithic ancestors and because human genetics have not changed because the time period, this is the kind of eating that humans are best suited for. Cordain wrote the popular book “The Paleo Diet” and recommends eating like the Paleolithic ancestors. The Primal Diet because a Nutritional FoundationMore Information

  14. Guys. Help me. I weigh 12ib gt 4 children will juicer help Donnie help me and give me advice. Quickly

  15. no app?

  16. Hi! I don’t have a juicer, can I blended instead?

    • Yea, you can. Only I do recommend straining the juice in a cheesecloth or something similar, if you dont it will have little pieces of fruit and veg left in the juice.
I don’t have a juicer either and I strain it in a clean cotton dishcloth. works like a charm. :)

      x Happy juicing!

  17. Hi, I’m looking into to doing my first juice fast and I wondered if there should be a transition period from food to juice? Some people have said I should first eat a vegan diet for a few days, then cut out all grains and only eat fruits/veg for a few days and then start juicing… like gradually building up to it… is this necessary – or can I just start juicing straight away?

    Many thanks,

    Kristy
    x

    • Hello, Kristy.

I can tell you, from research and actual experience, that it is not necessary; but, it can help you to experience less withdrawals and unpleasant detox symptoms. Especially if you are someone who drinks coffee, eats a lot of sugar, etc.

  18. Hi, Just wanted to ask a question. Is it ok to add Chia seeds or LSA to the juices, or even psyllium husk? Thank you.

  19. Hi Donnie,

I take anti depressant every day, would it effect the diet?

    Thanks

  20. I only see 2 different juices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but it says we have to drink about 6 juices a day. Do we drink 2 breakfast juices, 2 lunch juices, and 2 dinner juices?

  21. Is it okay to smoke during the cleanse? :\

  22. I decided I am going to do a 7 day juice cleanse, and I was talking about it to my boyfriend and surprisingly he said that he would do it as well. That excites me! However, he is 6’5 and bult big. How many juices should he be drinking, and should a pure protein be added?

  23. Hi Donnie,

I’m thinking of starting my first 3 day cleanse next week. My question is if it’s ok to workout while doing the cleanse I’ve seen many diffferent opinions regarding this topic, being that I will be following this cleanse I wanted to check with you, what’s your advice?

  24. can these be done in a vitamix?

    • Yes!

    • Kinda, but you will need LOTS of liquid to supplement or you will have a veggie mash, not juice.

I didn’t like adding too much water so I press the veggie mash and squeeze it out using a cheesecloth or metal strainer. This works best as these recipes seem better suited for juicers.

  25. Donnie,
I’m on day 3 of the juice fast. By evening of day one I had a screaming headache and was very nauseous. I ate a few saltines. On day 2 I ate watermelon and a grapefruit in addition to all my juices. Now I’m wondering if I’ve sabotaged my juice fast. I hate to think I ruined the main purpose–a detoxification. I still have periodic headaches and was definitely Hungary this afternoon. On a plus side my juices are healthy and fantastic.

    • Traditionally, in a juice fast you aren’t supposed to eat solid foods even though the foods you are consuming are healthy. The reason behind that is when food is consumed in its liquid form it has a much faster effect, as far as how nutrients enter the blood stream. It’s not sabotaged, as you say but if this is what you want to do, in order to get the effects you should follow the no solids rule.

Another note is you claim to be nauseated and have headaches. This is common during detox. All the junk you’ve put into your body over the years is being extracted from you with a detox cleanse. Your body has to work in overload to figure out how to get this awesome source of nutrients in and the junk out. Think of it like a puppy who gets a new toy, he doesn’t know what to do with himself cause he’s soooooo excited!!! I hope this helps!!! :) good luck on your detox journey.

Oh almost forgot!!!! If you have netflix I encourage you to watch a documentary called Fat Sick and Nearly dead. It’s about a guy who does a juice cleanse and travels America to educated people on the effects of it. Might bring your some encouragement as to why this is such a good thing!!:) ok really now….. Happy juicing!!!:)

  26. can i drink fruit juice only as i hate veges ? what are the average no of fruits should i eat per day ?

    • Rana, you can’t drink only fruit juice, that would be a sugar overload. You need to keep your juices 80% veggie and 20% fruit. Don’t worry about averages, as long as you are having a juice when you feel hungry you will be fine. Cheers!

  27. Hi, im looking for help, but don’t seem to be getting a response..
am I able to prepare my juices in the morning to take to work, they would be kept in the fridge once I arrived. Also roughly what times do you have the 4-6 juices. Thanks heaps..

    • Bianca, you most certainly can prepare your juices in the morning and take them to work with you. Just keep them in airtight containers in the refrigerator and they will be fine. Don’t worry about times to drink, just have a juice when you first start to feel hungry. Keep me posted! Cheers!

      • Thanks for responding Donnie. This is my first time at trying this, i’ve just purchased my juicer! Would you recommend just starting off for 3 days first? Or i was thinking maybe 5 days?

        • Bianca, set a weight limit instead of a time limit. It will be much easier that way. Cheers!

          • Hi Donnie. Thanks for getting back to me. I mainly want to do this for my skin and to feel good. Though I wouldn’t min losing 3-4 kgs. How long would you suggest to cleanse? I’m worried if I set the goals to high like 7 days I won’t achieve it.

    • Maybe you haven’t received a response because the answer is in the article. You just have to read it. You drink the juice when you are hungry. That’s not to hard to understand…

  28. Hello Donnie,

I was wondering if I could have juice in the am for breakfast and for dinner, but have a light salad for lunch?

    • Stephanie, while you can add a salad for lunch, that would defeat the purpose of a juice fast, especially if your goal is to lose weight quickly. On the other hand, if you do add a salad and keep it all healthy (no dressings) you will lose weight and detox, just at a slower pace. Cheers!

  29. I tried the 3 day juice fast. Great recipes! I found all the ones I tried very tasty and delicious to drink. I skipped the bruschetta tang because I knew I would not like the ingredients and substituted it for the Hulk. I felt great the first 2 days and it was pretty easy, but then on the 3rd day mid-afternoon, I had to have solids. I was so hungry and much more so than I was the first 2 days. I will try again in a few weeks, or maybe just substitute meals with juices. I found your grocery list and tips very helpful and was able to make my juices very easily once I prepped all the veggies and fruits the night before and placed them in 1 lb ziplock bags. Thanks for all your info and the great recipes!

  30. Can I drink green tea during the 3 day fast?

  31. Hi my father needs to lose weight for major surgery to remove a trapped nerve from his spine.I want to set him up on this 3day plan ,would it be suitable and safe to put him on this diet?Any advise id greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  32. I’m just wondering what juices the shopping list makes as there are two different juices for each meal about it?
    Thanks, Rachel

  33. I just made my first breakfast juice…. It’s very thick not so easy to drink. Any ideas on how it can be made smoother?

  34. Shopping today ready to start the diet Monday after all the easter chocolate!!! will let you know how I get on and how I feel on Thursday!! :) xxx

  35. so I started today and I was ok until the early afternoon and now I’m really hungry for food and not juice. I will try to hold on and make it…after all its only for 3 days.

  36. I’m starting my 3 day cleanse tomorrow and must say I’m more nervous about doing this than I was when I quit smoking almost 5 yrs ago. I have some medical issues that I have to take medication for and I’m wondering if I can do this & still take the meds without messing up my cleanse? Any replies would be appreciated.

    • how are you doing on your day 1?

  37. I just had some major surgery 5 weeks ago. Since then, I have had hives every single day! I am going to try juicing for 3 days to see if I can maybe get rid of whatever is in my body poisoning me! Shopping today, starting tomorrow!

  38. Just started 3 day juice fast, so far so good though I am starving and have a slight headache.

  39. Hello-
Today is day 1 of my 3 days juice fast. I have 3 small children and its been really difficult for me not to sneak a bite of the food I prepare for them. This is really hard. Maybe it’s all a mental thing because I usually don’t even eat anything until about 11 or 12pm. Anyway, i’ll keep trying.

  40. colexworld

hi ive started the 7 day diet plan and im really not a lover of celery or is there any think else I could use instead , and also why is there so much cucumber in them, could I use sumthing else instead if any one could help that would be great :Dx

  41. Is it common to get very weak when juicing? I am only on the first day and getting really weak and light headed.

    • Shelly, it sounds like you are going through detox. Are you a big caffeine drinker?

      • I drink a cup in the morning that’s it.

  42. what is the exact time to take the juice?, for example on breakfast, after lunch?
    pls need answer

  43. Hi….I’m wanting to do this cleanse to kick start a healthier eating habit and loose weight. I’m all for trying any and all of these recipes. A couple of things, I have a juicer that takes WHOLE pieces of fruit and veggies, there is no need to peel or core anything, that won’t be a problem will it? Also, is there any fruit or veggie I should stay away from, anything that would not support cleansing? I’m not sure if I missed anything or not, but when do I drink my breakfast juice….after the warm lemon water, and if so how long after? I’m glad it is Lent, this will make me even more determined to give up the junk (pop) that is bad for me!

  44. Started juicing on March 5…have to say some juicing recipes are working better for me than others. Im trying to keep an open mind and also exercise. Hope to reach my goal!!!!

  45. I started juicing yesterday. I got hungry about three times but other than that I have been doing ok! Well it’s day two we will see what happens.

  46. Glad to say I am almost done with day 1 which is brutally hard! I don’t think I have challenged myself like this in a while. Being an athlete, I strive for hard challenges but this is something completely different! You all can do it! Don’t give in and don’t give up!

  47. Do you have to juice certain recipes at certain times of the day?
Or is it okay to juice anyone of these recipes at anytime of the day?
    Thanks for your help

  48. Is anyone else having issues with this…. I started today. I don’t have a high end juicer… One of the Hamilton Beach ones. It does the job but anyways…. If I used the list of ingredients above, I wouldn’t nearly get 16-20 ounces of juice. I am having to use about double. Let me know if anyone else is having trouble with that. For ex) I just used one stalk of celery, one bunch of spinach, 1 orange and 1 tomato and ended up with about 32 ounces of juice. I know it takes a lot to make juice but just want to see if I am the only one. On a side note, this is hard as crap but I love a good test!

    • Does anyone read there posts, before they send it in? You got 32 ounces of juice from one stalk of celery,a bunch of spinach, one orange and one tomato? must have been one big orange and tomato.

  49. Just started my 3-day juice fast today and I decided to blog my experience as a way to keep me motivated. This page has been really helpful. Thanks!

  50. Thank you! I have been diagnosed with fatty liver though I am only 7 lbs overweight. That seems impossible that I think my doctor doesn’t know what he is doing (sorry!). But nevertheless, because I have been so fatigued and out of breath when I walk a few steps, I decided to get myself in shape. I have started exercising January 7 for 20 minutes daily and until now, no change in my weight. I have started to enjoy life again, though. I am not tired anymore everytime me and my family go out. They don’t enjoy being with me anymore because I always had to sit or lie down. Now, I can walk, run and play with them!
Anyway, I have been looking for a 3 day detox meal on the internet and thank God I found this. I will start today after I buy all the ingredients listed here. Thank you for this!

  51. Hi there, I don’t know why my reply didn’t go through. Anyways, Im on day 3 of 7 and I think Im only going to do 3 days in total. I have a killer migraine. I might be battling a cold or something. I know its normal to get headaches but migraines.

  52. I decided that I need to give this juicing a serious attempt in order to help me regain control of my weight before I start having more serious health issues. One day down so far and it is not as bad as I had thought. I have learned that a little ginger goes a long way. My biggest hurdle is bored eating. Thank you for the site. I will post updates on my progress as I try to push myself to become healthier. Your story has inspired me. (starting weight 560 lbs) My goal is to make it 100 days on this juice fast to jump start my weight loss and make it easier for me to be able to do some physical exercise.

    Thank you
    Aaron

    • Aaron – how did you do? Starting mine tonight

  53. Hi Donnie,

I’m attempting a 3 day juice cleanse to help digestion and remind myself the difference between cravings and actual nutrient hunger. Ultimately my goal is weight management – but I have realized that I eat when I crave food and therefore over eat.

Will a three day juice cleanse be long enough to remind my body and mind what nutrient hunger feels like?

    • Going to start with the 3 day tomorrow! So excited. Lets see where it will take me. I’m doing it to get more healthy, and to obviously lost weight! I will combine it with walking an hour each night. I know it’s not much, but it’s a start. Depending on whether I can keep up, I’ll continue with the 7 days as well, and then start skipping. I love it. Thanks for this blog dude!

  54. Hi thank you to Sanz and NS for your comments it really is a learning curve. I have now completed a 22 day juice fast and now including green smoothies and raw foods with daily juices I plan to do this for the next three months. I have seen that many people experience hair loss from doing a juice fast and was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what has helped.

  55. Hi,
I’m planning on doing this to sort of shrink my huge appetite and also to incorporate foods I don’t usually eat ie kale. Would it be ok to have only 3 juices and then as a treat have a lovely yoghurt honey and fruit smoothie :) or does this defeat the purpose :(

    • I did a 3 day smoothie fast as part of a 7 day detox and for the main meal i substituted the smoothie for salmon or tuna and salad and I still lost 3.5kg for the week so I presume the same may work for a juice fast – I will do this when I start the juice fast next week

  56. I am trying this juice cleanse with my sister to try and kick start juicing in our everyday lives. I’m on my second day and feel great. I am not hungry at all but I really just miss eating food! No doubt I feel lighter and have a bit more mental clarity than I usually do, I am not taking any vitamins or drinking coffee so this is a huge plus for me. Can’t wait to tackle day 3!

  57. Hey im on my 4th day on juicing and I havnt lost any weight and I’ve done everything as written am I doing something wrong? I also feel very full all the time I can go with having 3 juices a day I will be fine. I don’t crave anything I don’t get hungry and I feel full to the max!.. I’m doing this more for the weight issue any suggestions I’m willing to try this out for a full 7days!

  58. Hi Donnie any advice on the best products to aid bowel movement I have brought aloe vera is this ok? Have decided to go for the full 30 days for health reasons so will need to incorrupt an eliminator any suggestions?

  59. Now on day 5 of the juice fast have learnt to peel all citrus fruit and have lost 3kgs have 6kgs to go however am feeling drained today and am thinking about adding steam veg in my diet as suffer from hypoglycaemia when is a good time to incorrupt food without affecting the results too much on the juice fast?

  60. hey there, i am eager to become more healthy and lose some weight. i have about 20-30 lbs to lose and i am planning on trying the 3day juice fast to start off with. how much weight is the average loss while doing the 3 day plan and also the 7 day plan ? also, would the weight loss be water weight or actual fat loss ? thank you

  61. Hi everyone, I’m on day one of 3DAY JUICE FAST and I’m very excited and I will do my best, because my body deserves it!!! Good chance and enjoy the whole process.

  62. Hi,
I’m doing the 3 day juice fast and I’m curious, should I be peeling my cucumbers, apples, etc? I have been but now I’m wondering if I’m supposed to keep the skin on.
    Thanks!
    Nancy

    • Hi Nancy,

Definitely always leave skin on as it holds all the vitamins a bit of fibre too! Apple skin contains pectin which is fabulous for your health and aids weight loss. The only skin worth peeling off is citrus fruit because it will taste gross. :)

  63. Hi there I am on day three of juice diet and noticed a few things firstly I have followed most of the recipes as above however Last night I noticed that I am getting a sore throat from doing this juice diet also find the citrus fruits unpeeled too much leaves a waxy taste and feel. Any reasons for the sore throat following drinking the juices?

    • Hi, Angelique!
You have to peel all citrus fruits as they have oil in the skin that will taste bitter and even clog your juicer. I don’r have any input to the sore throat, but def peel those citrus fruits! Good luck!

    • Hey Angelique

Are you drinking lemon water in the morning?
Coz that sometimes is the cause of sore throat…

      goodluck!

  64. Hi Donnie, it says 4-6 juiceser day, how do you know how many is ok to have for you?

And for example to start off I will use your receipes above so does that mean I just can repeat some 2 or 3 times a day even?

    Many thanks,
    Charlotte

    • Charlotte, welcome to JOJ. You can have any combination of the juices that you want. I find it best to have one of each for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But you will get hungry in between so that’s why there are six juices for you to choose from on this plan. Make it fun, exciting, and interesting Charlotte. Try a variety of juices throughout the day and after a while you will know what types of juices work best for you. Cheers!

  65. Yikes. I just did a test juicing to get familiar with the juicer. I used apples…did not know I should core them and not use the seeds. I drank it all, will I die?

    • Mary Ann, while I’m sure you are still alive and kicking it’s not going to do harm if you don’t core the apple or remove the seeds. It’s best to do those things though as they aren’t something you would normally eat. Cheers!

  66. I’m really interested in the three days just juice. I want to try it with my mom. I know I can handle it, but I doubt she can. She’s 60 years old and works 8hrs a day. Is there any tip on how she can do it, without her fainting of hunger? Thank you in advance

    Thanks
    A very worried daughter.

    • Kathy, my mother was in her 50’s when she started her juice fast. She said there was no way she could do it but after seeing my results she decided to give it a shot. It was very easy for her and she went on juicing for a month. She wont have any hunger problems as long as she has a juice when she gets hungry. If she can push her cravings aside she will succeed! Cheers!

  67. I finished day three last night and have decided to continue. I feel great and I have lost four pounds.

    • That’s fantastic Joy! Congratulations on the weight loss so far. It’s only going to get better! Keep me posted on your progress! Cheers!

  68. I am ready to start tomorrow morning!! Just finished prepacking all my juice meals. Will keep you posted! Today’s weight 158lbs. Good luck everyone.

    • Awesome Lisa! Keep me posted on your progress and know that I’m here if you have questions. Cheers!

    • Hey, did you start the fasting yet? how many lbs have you lost so far?

  69. What if you don’t have a juicer? While smoothies would not have the same affect, would they still be considered a cleanse? My ultimate goal for this cleanse is not so much for the weight loss, but for the detox and for a transition back to healthy eating. Could smoothies be a substitute for juices?

    • Ann, you could still have a proper cleanse with smoothies or by eating just fresh fruits and veggies. It will just be a much longer process but still as healthy. Cheers!

  70. Hi there, I’ve just completed day 1 of the 3 day juice fast following the recipes you provided with the same measurements, etc. and I’m so hungry! Is this just because my body isn’t used to not having solid food? I never feel satisfied/full after a juice – am I doing something wrong?
I hope it gets easier tomorrow!

    • Jess, let me explain how hunger works and how cravings work. Hunger is how your body tells you that it needs nutrients. When you have a juice you are giving your body plenty of nutrients to satisfy itself. Cravings are when your mind is telling you to eat out of habit, boredom, or for the enjoyment of it. Even though you drink a juice, your mind can still not associate it as food. Therefor you may still think your hungry when you’re actually not. Just keep it up and if you have to, have more juice. It will get easier as long as you stick to it and keep focused on your goals. Cheers!

  71. Hi,
I am very interested in starting a juice cleanse but I don’t have a juicer. I have a Nutribullet but in reading your comments this won’t work because the fiber needs to be removed…correct? Can you recommend a juicer for someone on very limited budget?

  72. Hi There, It’s me again! Is each of the recipes for one meal? Like would morning glory be meant for one breakfast? I just want to be sure I am not taking in more than necessary.

    • Yes Mariah, each recipe is one meal/one serving. As long as you are taking in around 16 ounces each juice, you are doing it right. Cheers!

  73. Hi There, Is there usually a good chance of a little weight loss doing this? I’m not doing it to lose weight I just want to be sure my body won’t gain weight after I am finished once I start eating solids again.

    • Mariah, there is a good chance you will lose weight on the fast. The weight loss is mostly attributed to how much weight you have when you start. If you are already around your ideal weight then you probably won’t lose much if any at all. Please read this article on how to eat after a fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/how-to-eat-after-a-fast/ as it will answer your questions about maintaining your weight after a juice fast. Cheers!

  74. I have to take 50,000 iu of Vitamin D 3 once a week because of a vitamin D deficiency. Can I still take it while juicing?

    • Susana, if the doctor told you that you need to take it, then keep taking it and schedule a checkup after a week of juicing to have your levels checked. Cheers!

  75. Hi Donnie , im 6foot 190lbs male the first day i started i was so full after 2 thats all i had all day do you 100% have to have 4-6 a day . Im only doing the 3 day one its 6pm day 2 and i had 3. Does most people not have as many the first day . Its easier than i taught maybe day 3 it might hit me lol . Cheers Donnie

    • Jamie, it’s okay to have less or more juice. It’s all about listening to your body. If you aren’t hungry there is no need to force a juice. If you are completely full after a only 3 juices then just stick with three. You can also lower the quantity to 12 ounces per juice and have more if you find that you are hungry but 16 ounces is too much. It sounds like you are on the right path Jamie! Keep me posted and let me know how things go. Cheers!

      • Done the 3 day lost 8lbs didnt really do it for weight loss but feel great juices so nice GREAT website !!!

        Thank Donnie !!!

  76. I’m on board with the cleanse and excited to get going! Although my wife is hesitant of cutting out solids because she gets bad migraines(like there are good migraines) that are triggered by hunger. After everything I have been reading, juicing could be the natural way to heal herself from these migraines. Can you help us out with this?

    • Dave, welcome to JOJ and congrats to you and your wife for planning a juice fast. As far as headaches/migraines she can take tylenol or ibuprofen to help curb those. As far as hunger headaches, most hunger headaches are induced not from lack of eating but a lack of nutrition. She will get plenty of nutrition while on the juice fast. Hunger is how your body tells you that it needs nutrients. If you don’t give it nutrients it can cause headaches, stomach cramps and other undesirable affects. Even if you eat, these symptoms can still stay because of lack of nutrition in what you ate. When on a juice fast you are loading your body up with so many different nutrients it will curb that hunger and the symptoms associated with it. Keep me posted and let me know how things go for you and your wife. I wish you all the best this New year Dave! Know that I’m always here if you have any questions. Cheers!

  77. I have been on the Juice Fast for 3 days now what would be the added benefits of going further to the 7 or 14 day fast?

    • TH, it usually takes a full week to go through a complete detox. Other benefits would be the added nutrition and weight loss. If weight loss isn’t your main goal you could go back to eating solids and include a few juices throughout the day. That would ensure you are still giving your body the nutritional benefits of juicing. Cheers!

  78. Great piece. Quick question, can a breastfeeding mum do these?

    • Peace, it’s best to not go 100% juice while you are breast feeding. Toxins are released into your bloodstream that will get into your milk. To counter this it’s best to incorporate juices into your diet. Keep a diet of fresh fruits and veggies. It’s okay to have a lean protein such as chicken breast or lean beef too. This will help you detox but at a slower and healthier pace considering you’re breast feeding. Keep me posted and know that I’m here if you have questions. Cheers!

  79. I am thinking about doing this cleanse for the new year. I want to start 2014 fresh and clean but I have one question.

I workout 3 times a week for an hour long. If I do this cleanse, am I going to be able to work out? I ask because usually when I do I have to eat a lot of protein for obvious reasons. If this is a stupid question, well, I apologize but I thought I would ask rather than just do something the wrong way.

    Thanks!

    • D, welcome to JOJ and thanks for your comment. No question here at JOJ is stupid! It’s better to ask and be sure! If you have that question, others will have the same question. You should rest and relax during the first few days of your juice fast. After that it’s okay to do some light workouts. Just don’t over do it with your workouts. As far as protein you can add an unflavored protein isolate to your juices. Just remember to listen to your body and don’t over exert yourself too much. Cheers!

  80. I’m seriously considering doing the juice fast. since winter break is almost over, i would do it during the school year. Students have access to a fridge so is it okay to make the juice in advance, refrigerate it, then drink it when i’m ready?

    • Annie, it’s okay to make your juices and bring them with you. Just keep them in airtight containers and store them in the refrigerator and they should hold for around 8 hours. Enjoy!

  81. Hi,

I am new to this juicing experience. I bought a juicer and a few items. I am thinking of doing the 3 day cleanse. what happens after the 3 days. I am looking to juice for a variety of reasons. To eat healthier, lose weight and have more energy. I am fearful of experimenting as I really don’t cook and don’t want to mess anything up. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

    thank you

    felicia

    • Felicia, as long as you stay eating healthy after your juice fast, you’ll do great. Read this article to see what to do after your fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/how-to-eat-after-a-fast/

As far as cooking, look up some easy vegetarian recipes to get you started. After a while feel free to start using proteins like chicken breasts or lean beef. Enjoy!

  82. Should I continue my vitamin regemine (Vit C, Milk Thistle, Multi, B Complex, Probiotics) while on a juice fast?
    Thank you.

    • Patti, you’ll get plenty of nutrition while on the juice fast. Most likely your vitamins will just be wasted but it won’t hurt your fast if you decide to continue them. Let me know if you have questions.

  83. should I stop taking any multi vitamins or supplements or can I take them when I juice

    • Frank, you’ll get more than enough nutrition so a multi-vitamin is really not necessary. It won’t hurt your fast if you do continue to take it though. What other supplements are you taking?

  84. was just wondering on how big the cucumbers should be ?
    is bigger fruit better ?

    • I seem to always get medium to large cucumbers. Sometimes I’ll just cut the large cucumber in half and it works out perfect. It’s good to juice the cucumber last as it’s very juicy and you can decide how much of it to use to get your 16-20 ounces of juice. Cheers!

  85. whats with the “froth” on my juices. I usually drink spinach carrot and apple.i just shake it up and drink it but the froth..well I don’t like it

    • James, just spoon off the froth or get a froth removing cup. Most juices will have some froth. Some more so than others.

  86. Is this two juices for each breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Or, pick one of the juices?

    THANKS

    • Jacob, you should have between 4-6 juices per day. There are six juices there for you to choose from. You can have any combination of them that you like. Or you can have the same juice a few times throughout the day too. Enjoy!

  87. What if you did 2 days of juicing and the third day attempted to eat solid foods then juiced the remaining of the day?

    • Rj, if you do that, you are hindering the progress of your fast. Leave out the solids! Just get back to the juicing and you’ll be fine. Cheers!

  88. Hi, I’m 16 years old and I have high cholesterol. I’ve been wanting to try juicing for a very long time but I was concerned with my age and didn’t really have time because of so much school work. Now that winter break just started I decided to try it for three days. Is it safe to juice at 16?

    • Jessica, you’re age shouldn’t be a problem. Make sure your parents know about it and understand what it is you are doing. I’m always here if you or they have any questions. Best wishes to you!

  89. My husband and I are thinking about trying juicing; he has many health issues, diabetes for example and is on many medications. He is concerned that he will need food to take with his medications. How can he safely do this?

    • Terri, I always recommend talking with a doctor when doing a juice fast while on medications. Diabetes and juicing work really well together if you keep the sugars down to a minimum. If you would like to talk with someone who has diabetes and did an 80 day juice fast then head over to the JOJ forums and talk with Andy. He’s always willing to help and share his knowledge with diabetes and juicing. I wish you and your husband all the best Terri!

  90. Hi Donnie! Good day!
I just started my 3day juice fast coz I have only 3days off.. I really don’t eat vegetables.. and its really hard for me to like the taste of it especially if its all mixed already.. my question is what if 1 only drink 12oz every time I drink.. is that really a big deal, I mean it will not be more effective ?
Thanks A lot for your help..

    • Melissa, I’m sorry for the late response. It’s fine to only drink 12 ounces at a time. Just make sure you aren’t starving yourself throughout the day. Have a juice when you feel hungry.

  91. A quick question…..lemons are stated to be peeled, does this apply to the oranges as well?? First time juicer!! X

    • Jade, anything with a rind on it should be peeled. Lemons and Oranges should both be peeled. Congrats on starting your first juice fast! Keep me posted and know that I’m here if you have any questions.

  92. Gonna get myself a Juicer. Excited to start the 7 day juice fast.

  93. exercise while juicing? is this ok should i decrease amount of time from one hour to 30 minutes 5 days a week or what? i did not see that you answered me the first time sorry if you already answered thanks

    • Maria, you can exercise while on the juice fast but it’s not necessary. It’s best to let your body rest and recover during the first few days of your fast until you adjust to the juice! I’m here if you have any more questions.

  94. I am currently in Thailand and as a surprise, I can’t find any lemons in my location. They only have limes.
How can I substitute the lemons?

    Thanks

  95. I work in a call center with a 30 min lunch and trying to find the best way to juice and get my drinks in?

    • I would recommend you juice in advance (I’m currently doing it now) and freeze it, retaining all the goodness. I get mine out the night before and by the time you need it, voila, it’s ready for you to drink. Occasionally the centre is still mildly frozen so I just squeeze the plastic bottle to break down the mass and it soon melts. Good luck!

  96. I am vegeterian, and having hypothyroidism and anemic. So I am using thyroid and iron tablets. Can I start this juice diet without any problems, While I am using these medications?can I use any protein shake?

  97. is there a printable version of these reciepes and shopping lists?

    good site.

    • Victor, you should be able to highlight the recipes you want, right click, and select print selected. Hope this helps.

  98. Hi was just wondering what the consistency of the juice should be as mine is more smoothie, quite thick with piedes of veg still in it?

    • Louise, your juice should be about the consistency of water. There shouldn’t be any thick or heavy pieces of produce in it. You may want to strain your juice after it comes out or try to get a new juicer. What juicer are you using? Keep me posted Louise.

  99. Hiya,

Would you recommend limiting how many of a juice you have a day? i.e. Say you will consume 5 a day, can you break it up into 2 breakfast juices (spread out from eachother) 1 from the lunch recipes and 2 from dinner?

    Thanks

    • Ann, just have a juice when you get hungry. If you’re hungry and you don’t have a juice you’re starving your body of nutrients and that will slow down your weight loss. Just focus on listening to your body and having a juice when you’re hungry. Let me know if you have any questions Ann.

  100. Hey there! I am excited to launch this on Monday! I have a question tho….so it is my understanding you can juice fast for an entire month with no issues? Like our bodies needing to “digest” foods?
I am going to commit to the 7 day and see how that goes! Looking forward to it!!!

    Would love your input!

    • Why does your body need to digest food? To break it down, extract the nutrients, and pass the rest on as waste. When you juice the juice is already broken down, nutrients are already ready for absorption, and there is no waste.

Keep me posted on your fast and let me know if you have any questions Jen.

  101. Is it ok to use a blender as opposed to a juicer?

  102. one last question. Can i add 1 scoop of whey protein on my juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

  103. Hi! Can i still run 10km or do a 2-hour intense workout (cardio, abs, obliques, arms, back, shoulders with 5lbs dumb bells)while on this diet?

    • Do you lose same amount of weight if you have carrot and orange juice with some other fruits…….rather than having mean green ? ?

      • Amey, you need to keep your juices 80% veggie and 20% fruit. Remember, the less sugar, the better. If you’re having a juice that’s mostly sugars you’re probably not going to lose much weight. Let me know if you have any questions.

    • Angel, it’s best to let your body rest and recover during the first few days. After that, it’s up to you to listen to your body and know when enough is enough. Don’t over do it or push your self too hard.

  104. Hi Donnie…
I just started the 3 day plan today
But i was wondering does it makes a difference in drinking the juice or the results afterwards if my day starts by 1 PM and then i sleep by almost 1 AM .. due to my job schedule..
So i had the breakfast juice at 1 PM today and then i will have lunch juice by evening and then dinner juice by almost 10 or 11 PM ?

Do you recommend that i should strictly have the morning juice by 7…8 AM ??

    • Amey, there are no set times while on a juice fast. Just start your day off like normal and have a juice when you wake up and get ready for the day. If you usually wake up and are up by 1, then have your first juice at that time. I’d say it’s best to have your first juice within the hour of you waking up.. Let me know if you have any questions.

  105. Hi Donnie,
I’m on my second day of JOJ, is it possible to have vegetables soup at night instead of one juice?

    • Hanna, sorry for the late response. The only thing you want to have is juice. You can make a juice, warm it up, and eat it like a soup but don’t eat any store bought soups. I’m here if you have any questions.

  106. Mrs.Lopez

Is it good to work out while juicing?

    • Mrs. Lopez, it’s best to let your body rest and relax during the first few days of your juice fast. If you do exercise keep it lite and easy. Don’t overdo it.

  107. Hi don Im starting the 3 day juice cleanse and ive read you can not store the juice but like most people I work so how do I go about making the “lunch” juice and are you limited to 3 juices a day?

    • Susan, you can store your juices as long as you keep them in airtight containers and put them in the refrigerator. I wouldn’t store them for too long though, maybe 8-12 hours at the most.

Please re-read the sixth step on the 3 day juice fast plan as it says:

“It’s recommended to have between 4-6 juices per day each consisting of 16-20 ounces. The below list is great to get you started with different juices. You can choose whichever juices you please while on your juice fast. The list takes into consideration you will try them all. So feel free to experiment while on your 3 day juice fast plan!”

So if your hungry, have a juice Susan. The goal of a juice fast isn’t to starve yourself into weight loss, but to promote healthy weight loss through the inclusion of many nutrients. Keep me posted on your progress. I’m here if you have any questions.

  108. Hello Donnie,

I am in my third day of JOJ. Yesterday a horrible headache, just read could happen. Today I am better.

The only way I could drink these juices is adding more fruits, ex. adding 2 apples to my juice instead of one.

My question to you is, is still good this detox diet if at the end of the day I had 8 apples and 6 oranges?

I will try to keep doing this diet as much as I can, though, I am getting tired, no because I am dying to eat because I am not (unbelievable!!!), but it’s bored, I can’t enjoy a dinner with my boyfriend, can’t try my baby’s food, etc…

    Good luck to everybody :)))))

    Loli.

    • Loli, you have to come to a decision and decide if being bored with your juices for a few more days or weeks is worth the reward of your health. I know it is well worth it.

When you add more fruits you are adding more sugar. If you consume too much sugar it will get stored as fat. Lowering your sugar intake will help lose or maintain weight. Keep in mind that it’s best to make sure your juices are 80% veggies and only 20% fruits.

Remember Loli, it’s not like you are juicing for the rest of your life. It’s just a week or two, or longer if you wish. You can do anything for a week or two if you really want to. Take a look at the substitution list ( http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-substitution-list/ ) for some other ideas about what you can do with your juices. Try heading into the recipe section of the JOJ forums and see whats there. There are some delicious soup recipes that you can enjoy with your boyfriend too. Enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions.

  109. So I’ve been thinking about doing a juice cleanse for a while, but just never got the balls to do it.

Now my hand is almost being forced, because I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed, and I’m not going to be able to eat solid foods for a couple of days, so I figured it would be the perfect time.

So my question is, (and I’m also planning on asking my dentist about this) is it juicing going to provide enough nutrients while my body is healing? And will me being loaded up with pain pills going to kill the whole purpose of doing a juice cleanse?

    • Megan, welcome to JOJ! Juicing will most likely provide you with more nutrients than your current diet so it’s only going to help you. As far as your meds stick to them and use them for pain as needed like your dentist will tell you. They won’t kill your cleanse. It’s still a good idea to ask your dentist is professional opinion on the matter. Let me know what happens. I’m here if you have any questions Megan.

      • Thanks. I’ll make sure to bring it up before the surgery. I really wasn’t looking forward to living off pudding and overcooked pasta for three days afterwards.

        • You’re going to do great! Keep me posted!

          • So I discussed it with the dentist before the surgery, and he suggested against it, but not for the reasons I was worried about. He said that with all the antibiotics and narcotics I would be on, I really needed to be taking them with solid food to avoid nausea. I totally didn’t even think about that.

I will be doing my cleanse though, as soon as I’m off the antibiotics. There is so much crap in my system right now, that I’m really going to need it.

          • Megan, if you start juicing but stick to plant based foods when taking your medications, that would be a great start for you. Let me know how things turn out.

  110. Hey Donnie, I was doing some research on fasting and came across your site. It’s awesome. I was encouraged by your readers comments and I wanted to chat with you.
I have been struggling with weight loss for about 5 yrs now. After a near fatal car accident that has left me somewhat disabled, it’s been a challenge. However, with that said, I am above ground and grateful. During that time, I have put on approx 40 lbs and I can not stand it any longer.
I recently turned 50 and have tried several diets with NO SUCCESS. I visited my doctor and test revealed that my thyroid is sub-optimal. Perimenopausal and low thyroid makes it very difficult to loose wt. I have contemplated a juice fast for some time and just recently watched a documentary by Joe Cross (fat, tired and almost dead). I know it’s been out for a couple of years, but I just recently heard about it. Anyway, I viewed it and was amazed. I have been doing (mostly) a plant based diet for about a yr now and still struggling. I do struggle with carbs of the flour kind. I am trying to transition to whole wheat pastas, but not as successful as I’d like to admit. My doctor informs me that a low thyroid can prevent wt loss (and white flour foods). I want to do a 10 day juice fast challenge and then re-evaluate. If all is well, repeat the 10 days. My ultimate goal is to do a 30 day fast. Then begin a plant based diet afterwards. My doctor has me on antidepressants and thyroid medication. He wants me to continue them while on this fast and hopefully, I will be able to reduce then completely stop the antidepressant. Is it as safe as I think it is to do a 30 day fast? Also, I do have an embarrassing question…..If I am successful with a 30 day fast, I know you absorb the nutrients, but do you not have a BM for the entire time? There hasn’t been a whole lot of discussion or info on the subject. I am somewhat concerned about an issue like that.
In the documentary, Joe Cross did it for 60 days (no pooping for 60 days makes my stomach hurt). He does looks awesome though AND was able to discontinue his medications. Another man featured in the documentary was a truck driver named Phil. In the end when I viewed this man playing with his son and then running, I was hooked.
I know this has been long and winded, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hey Donnie,
I found the answer, if only I read your FAQ’s before I asked the pooping question…..
However, I would like to know your thoughts on the 30 day fast.
      Thx

      • Linda, I don’t see a problem with a 30 day fast at all. Just keep listening to your body. If you feel you can go on after 10 days then do so. It may also be good to schedule a doctors visit after the first 15 days to get a check up. I bet your doc will be amazed at how well you’ve done! Let me know how things go Linda.

    • Linda, congrats on deciding to do a juice fast. It’s going to do wonders for you!

It’s great that you saw your doctor to get his/her advice on the matter. As far as BM’s there’s nothing to worry about. During the first 3-5 days the BM’s you do have are from what was left over in your system. After that there isn’t anything being digested to warrant a BM since juice is absorbed and not digested. There’s nothing unusual about it and you’ll feel fine. If anything, you’ll have a constant feeling of relief throughout your juice fast.

Keep me posted Linda and know that I’m here if you have any questions.

  111. Donnie, what do you suggest for someone who has IBS, candidiasis, and a slow motility rate digestively? I could never digest 16-20 oz oz of liquid (water or otherwise) fast enough in time for the next juice. With the slowness of the motility, I could probably drink one or two a day and NOT need to eat until the next day, that’s how slow it is. Would I be better off doing 4-6 ounces of each 4-6 times a day? Any comments would be helpful.

    • Rita, one thing that you should understand when you juice is that juice is not digested but absorbed. This greatly helps with IBS and other digestive issues since the juice isn’t digested, nor does it pass through your system to make a bowel movement. As far as candida you should eliminate most fruits from your juices as you don’t want any sugar really. I think you will be fine if you stick to the plan. Keep me posted and remember that I’m here if you have any questions.

  112. Hi all-

How long in advance can you juice while still receiving the benefits? Can I juice a days worth of juice at once?

    • Emma, while it’s best to drink your juices immediately you can take a few to work with you or make a few ahead of time. I would get all my prep done the night before so I could have my morning juice fresh and then bring a few to work with me. Let me know if you have any questions.

  113. Are bananas allowed? I know they’d need to be added after juicing, via a blender. I’m on day # 1 of what I hope to be a 3 or 5 or 7 day fast (depending on how this goes).

    • Depending on what type of juicer you have you may be able to juice them. They don’t give much juice but it adds a nice creamy flavor to my juices. Also, if you use a masticating juicer then don’t try the banana as it will not work. Don’t add anything to your juice via a blender though. It’s the same as just eating it raw. Stay away from blenders until after your juice fast. They are great for smoothies when you come off of your fast Brian. Let me know if you have any questions.

  114. Hi

I just stumbled to your site by chance. I am planning to start my 3 day cleanse. I would love my husband to join in too. He is diabetic, so I wanted to know if you have any advice for him.

    thanks

    • J, it’s best to keep each of his juices to one fruit per juice. Also, use plenty of produce that contains protein. Above all else his doctor should know what he’s going to do in case any medications may need to be adjusted. I wish you both the best. Keep me posted. I’m always here if you have any questions.

  115. Hi Donnie ,that’s my second attempt to juice fast my first was a failure ,I don’t know if too late to post in this article or not ,but I wanted to ask you ,can I take my daily pills;vitamins/supplements ?

    • Piper, why was your first attempt a failure? Figure out what happened so you’ll be better prepared next time around. As far as your daily pills/vitamins/supplements if it’s prescribed by a doctor then yes, continue to take them. If it’s not then you may not need them. I would stop with the supplements (assuming they are protein or other nutritional supplements) but continue with any medications you are on. You’ll get plenty of nutrition from the juice. Just let it work it’s magic Piper! I’m here if you have any questions.

  116. Hi Donnie,
Today is my third day being on a 3-day cleanse. The first two days were awful, but my third day is going great. I do not crave solid food and feel a lot energized today. I think I will add four more days and jump to a 7-day cleanse. In two days I have lost 4 pounds and my aim is to lose 26 pounds more.
I have few questions for you. If I forget to take my juice to work (which I often do), how can I pass the rest of my day without fainting ? There are few convenient store and a grocery store. What would be the best thing to buy from there ? Are tropicana juices alright ?
Also, what should I do when I crave salt ?

    Thankyou
    Samir

    • Samir, congrats on day 3 of your juice fast! Stay away from any store bought juices if you can. The only one I would suggest you have if you are in a pinch is the green juice from naked juice. Everything else is just going to load you up with sugar. At least with the naked juice you’ll still be getting a little nutrition out of it. The best thing to do is to make sure you don’t forget your juices. As far as a salty taste, include more celery into your juices. Celery contains natural sodium and works well to help with that craving. Let me know if you have any questions Samir.

  117. Thanks again for your advice, you have no idea how grateful I am to you for inspiring me to regain my health!
I’m excited to report that I completed my 3 day juice fast last night and weighed in at 122 this morning. I’m only a few pounds away from my goal. For breakfast this morning I had a healthy fruit/ veggie smoothie and for lunch I’m having my favorite salad. I feel great!
Also, I’m sorry I’ve been misspelling your name! I got it now :)

  118. sarivette

Donny, thank you so much for creating this site! It’s been very inspirational to me and I’ve shared it with my family and friends as well.
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across your site and read through for a couple of days and then tried out the 3 day cleanse. I lost 5 pounds and felt better overall because it allowed me to stop kick my caffeine addiction. It’s been almost 3 weeks since my last cup of coffee and just that is cause for celebration!
At this point I’ve completed my second day of my second 3 day cleanse and feel pretty good. I took a break from the clean eating for a bit because we had family visiting us for a week but because I was eating smaller portions, I continued to lose a few pounds. I decided to do another juice fast because other than drinking coffee, I started to pick up on some of my old bad eating habits, which included, indulging in sweets and overeating. I wasn’t really overweight to begin with but I am now 41 and want to work towards being my healthiest. I’m 5’1 and with my unhealthy dieting, was weighing 134 a few weeks ago but weighed in at 125 this morning. My goal is to get down to 115 which is a few pounds more than what I weighed 12 years ago when I got married, before having 3 kids. I was always blessed with a fast metabolism and consequently was able to eat anything I wanted without it changing the outer appearance of my body. However recently because of years of poor food choices I became overweight according to my standards and though my only health complaint were migraine headaches, I knew that I needed to improve the quality of my internal health.
I may stay on the cleanse after tomorrow, I will play it by ear. I will say that this time around, I have not been as tempted to eat as I was on my first cleanse. But because I don’t enjoy the juices at all, sadly I’m not drinking as many as I should. Example, today I only had 3 all day. The most I’ve had in one day is 4 juices, which I think is okay because I don’t feel hungry enough to have more than that. I ended up getting a headache today, I guess it was because I needed more nutrients in my body. I’m going to have to make only the juices I can tolerate, which seem to be the ones that have mango, orange and banana in them. I very much dislike kale and cucumbers also but I usually add cucumbers because they render a lot of liquid. I’d like to find a replacement for them though since the juices all have that distinct smell and taste that I so dislike. I understand that my palate may change after continued cleanses, at least I hope it does. Anyhow, I have stopped adding celery and beets to my juices also as I felt sick to my stomach just with the smell. I wish I was like some of you that drink it quickly and find it tasty even. My husband for example, tells me “delicious” and drinks it in under 5 minutes. It has taken me up to an hour to drink all my juice because after each sip, I have to follow with water and it’s a bit torturous for me to drink 16 ounces of veggie juice.
I know I wrote an earful and don’t really know what I want or need to hear from you but a simple comment would be great! I’m so thankful that you take the time to help others, you’re very thoughtful Donny, God bless you!

    • Sarivette, congrats on your juice fast and your weight loss. Not all juices are going to taste great to all people. You’ll need to experiment and use new things to replace things you aren’t fond of. The substitution list is a great place to start: http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-substitution-list/

You should be drinking your juices within 15 minutes to get the max benefits from them. Juices are absorbed within 15 minutes of you consuming them. Find juices that you like and experiment with those. Start with taking a recipe you really enjoy and then try substituting 1 or 2 things in it. Even take a recipe you don’t like and replace a few things in it. This is a great way to not only experiment but to try out new ingredients.

The 4-6 juices per day is just a figure. It’s not something that you MUST stick by in order to be successful with your goals in juice fasting. Everybody is different and some people can go with only 3 juices per day. It’s just a matter of listening to your body and having a juice when you feel hungry. Don’t by any means force a juice down if you aren’t hungry. Your body does a very good job of letting you know when it’s hungry. So as long as you listen to your body, you will be fine.

You’re doing great Sarivette, just experiment a little with the juices until you touch on a few that you really enjoy. A enjoyable juice makes a huge difference. I wish you all the best Sarivette. I’m always here if you have any questions.

      • sarivette

Thanks Donny, your advice is most helpful. I plan to experiment with different vegetable combinations like you suggested. I do enjoy a few of the recipes that you have posted, but they tend to be the sweet ones that one would consume in the morning. Also, I’ll set a timer as soon as I make my drink and if I haven’t finished drinking my juice within 15 minutes, I’ll make myself finish it :)

        • Try not to force yourself to drink them, start out making juices that you really enjoy, even if they are more fruity. After a while start to use less fruit and more veggies. Your body will adjust.

  119. I have a Vitamix which is a very powerful mixer/blender, is this not a good option for the juicing plan & my other question is on the 3-day although you have some of the meals listed under the lunch or dinner, are you saying mix & match them anyway you want throughout the day as long as you have 4-6 of them

    • Beatrice, a Vitamix is not a viable option for juicing. Read this article for a more in depth answer as to why you must use a juicer to juice: http://www.justonjuice.com/can-i-use-a-blender-for-juicing/

As far as the recipes go, mix and match them anyway you like. The breakfast ones have a little more fruit and are better for the mornings but it’s perfectly fine to have them in any order or combination that you like. Let me know if you have any questions Beatrice.

  120. Hi Donnie,
1st day on juice diet.. So far so good. Can I drink herbal tea ie mango and cinnamon ?

    • Emma, congrats on day 1 of your juice fast! Herbal tea is great to drink while on the fast! Try to keep it decaf if possible. Cinnamon and mango sound delicious and I bet make for a good tea! I’m here if you have any questions Emma.

  121. Donnie, I’m starting the 3 day trial tomorrow, and I religiously followed the shopping list, only to find that I’ve now bought much more than I needed to. For example the 6 suggested recipes called for 8 apples where the shopping list said 24, and 14 cucumbers where 4 and a half will do.

It’s no big deal, but you might want to change the website, so it’s more in line.

I’m having difficulty sellotaping the apples back on the tree !

    • Eddie, take a closer look at the plan. If you follow all 6 juices that comes out to be 8 apples per day. I’m glad you followed the list as you did because if you stick to the plan, you will go through all 24 apples. No need to sellotape them back on the tree.

Take a look at the Sixth point right above the recipes:

“It’s recommended to have between 4-6 juices per day each consisting of 16-20 ounces. The below list is great to get you started with different juices. You can choose whichever juices you please while on your juice fast. The list takes into consideration you will try them all. So feel free to experiment while on your 3 day juice fast plan!”

I think you are looking at it from the perspective of 3 juices per day. In actuality you will have between 4-6 juices per day as you feel hungry. I hope this helps to clarify it up a bit for you. Let me know if you have any questions Eddie. I’m always here to help.

  122. Hi

Just have one question. Can I drink just 1 cup of milk with a little coffee in it in morning? I get a headache if I don’t start my day with a little caffeine.

    • Rati, I don’t suggest having any coffee while on the fast, and certainly not any milk. You get headaches due to the lack of caffeine when you don’t have the coffee. Caffeine is a toxin you try to rid your body of when you go on a juice fast. You can take tylenol or ibuprofen while you are on the juice fast. Once you overcome the caffeine withdraw it will be easy for you. You can do it Rati! I’m here if you have any questions.

  123. Im gona try this..but dont like to experiment i need an exact juice plan ..please help..

    • Angie, just follow the plan on the 3 day fast and you’ll do great. Just choose any 4, 5, or 6 juices and everything is there for you to get started. Have the morning ones towards morning, the lunch juices around lunch, and the dinner ones later on in the afternoon as you feel hungry. Everyone is different so you may only need 4 juices whereas some people might need 6. So it’s best to start out that way and just have a juice as you feel hungry. Get everything on the shopping list and you’ll be fully prepared to do it! Let me know if you have any questions Angie.

  124. After the detox , since you dont eat actual meals. Do you gain all the weight back ? Cause I see this as basically just a liquid diet but when foods come back so does the weight. Also , be careful when you finally eat , dont eat like you normally would. You will have to find a restroom pretty fast. Not to sound disgusting , but im telling you that going from liquid to solid takes a toll on your digestive system. Eat light and eat right :) BTW , these juices sound better than the Oz detox.

    • Amy, if you go back to your previous eating habits, of course you will gain back the weight. Juicing not only helps you lose weight but helps you to get on a better diet once you are off the fast. It won’t take a toll on your digestive system at all if you stick to healthy nutritious foods and stay away from processed and fast foods. Read through this article as it will help you to understand how best to eat after your fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/how-to-eat-after-a-fast/

I’m here if you have any questions Amy.

  125. Hello! i was wondering what the overall cost of the 3 day juice cleanse? how much did you end up spending on all of the ingredients?

    • Cassidy, it really depends on where you live, what types of produce is available, what’s in season, and current produce prices. When I started I found it came to be around $10/day to feed me while on the juice fast. Lately I’ve been paying around $36 for all of my produce on the 3 day fast. It’s fairly inexpensive compared to if you eat out or hit the drive through daily. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

  126. I just started on the juice cleanse! I want to use it going into a new diet! But, I bought a juicer like you said, but I bought a citrus juicer… and I do not think this was the correct machine to buy… will this still work?

    • Coral, shoot me a link to the brand and model of the citrus juicer that you purchased. If it’s a centrifugal juicer you should be fine. Either way, let me know what it is and I’ll be able to tell you if it will work out for you on your juice fast.

  127. I’ve already lost 88-lbs with Weight Watchers. I’m 3-lbs shy of my ultimate goal weight set by my doctor. Going to give the 3-day fast a try. Looking over the plan, I’m not a fan of celery or beets. What’s a good replacement for them both?

    • Daphne, congrats on 88 pounds lost. How long did it take you to lose the weight while on weight watchers? That’s an incredible achievement! Congrats again!

I’m sure you will lose the 3 pounds within the first or second day of the fast. As far as substitutions just take a look at the substitution list here: http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-substitution-list/

Let me know if you have any questions Daphne.

  128. I am going to try this juicing fast but I have a few questions. I wanted to know about bananas. You do not have that listed. I have bought fruits and veggies but how will I know if I am doing it right or giving my body what it needs if I make my own juices. Can I do fruits without veggies in am and included veggies in afternoon and evening drinks. I really want to know becuase I am really excited about this and I would like to do it correctly. I need to lose 120 pounds and I need to feel better due to some health issues and I believe this will cleanse my body and give me more energy throughout my day. Thanks for your website it really has give me a boost reading others comments.

    • Monica, bananas aren’t on the list because none of the 3 day juices have bananas.

Here’s what I look for in a juice to make sure I’m getting enough nutrition.

      1. Maintain 80% veggies and 20% fruits
      2. Use at least 5 or more ingredients.
      3. Make sure I use at least one protein rich ingredient (kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, etc.)
      4. Juices are at least 16 ounces

If you stick to that and have between 4-6 juices per day, you will be fine Monica. Let me know if you have any quetsions.

  129. Hi yall! I am encouraged with this site. Im also a newbie starting a 3 day juice diet. I want to cleanse, detox and lose weight. I have lost 16 normally but would like to lose my last 15. My questions are…

    1. how many times a day do we drink a meal? Is this a morning noon and night thing or is it every 3.5 hours like many people say is best for blood sugar balance etc.?
    2. Can we add a protein drink plus less fruit if we want to?

I know it says we can change it up, and I also read that we don’t need the protein powder or drink but I do work out a lot and need the extra energy for muscle building.

I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you so much in advance.

    God bless,
    Judy

    • Judy, welcome to JOJ! I’m glad you found the encouragement to get started on your juice fast!

You should have between 4-6 juices per day with each being about 16-20 ounces. Just listen to your body and have a juice when you are hungry.

It’s okay to use less fruit but if you’re goal is to lose weight then just go for the straight juice with nothing added into it. You’ll get enough protein from the veggies that are in your juices.

If you work out and juice, it’s best to work on maintaining what you have instead of trying to build muscle and juice. If you must have extra protein then I would suggest only using a pure unflavored protein isolate powder to mix into your juices. This wont cause too much of a difference in your results either way.

I wish you the best of luck! I’ll be here if you have any questions Judy.

  130. Hi, I am almost done with day one and I must say I have never heard my stomach growl so loud in my life. I thought a monster was under my bed. I had to take a long nap to save the fridge from my hunger lol . I saw that you said we should drink 4 juices but you only list 3 a day. I am trying the 3 day plan to see how I do, I have 100 pounds to lose and I am getting married soon :-) How much do you think it is possible to lose while juice fasting?

    • Hey Ebonee…

I just started my juice fast and I’m only one drink in and making my daughters lunch I almost was tempted to eat it. I am a judge foodie and love to eat…thank god for fast metabolism. I’m doing the fast just to cleanse my body of all the junk I eat day to day and to get on a more healthier track. I’ve heard you can loose quite a bit of weight with the juice fast, but everyone differs, so I couldn’t say. However, I have a friend who is trying to loose around 50-80 pounds and she was able to shed about 5 pounds in 3 days. I wish you best of luck and congrats on the upcoming marriage!

Please pray I make it to day two!

    • Ebonee, your stomach is growling because it’s empty. That’s going to happen on the juice fast. After you go through detox that will stop. Detox usually lasts 3-5 days. There are six recipes for you to choose from on the list Ebonee. You should be taking in between 4-6 juices per day based on how hungry you get. That will definitely help with your stomach issues. You can have whatever juices you want to try out too. Feel free to experiment! I’m here if you have any questions.

      • Hi Donnie,

I just saw your comment about detox lasting 3-5 days. How do you know when you are out of it? This is the first time that I have gotten past a day. Your recipes are milder than others, which is helping me. I am down 2 pounds after the first day.

        Thanks,

        Dave

        • Dave, you’ll know when you are off as you’ll start to feel it. You’ll feel adjusted to the juice, you wont have headaches, and you’ll just feel great. Feel free to experiment with your recipes and try out new things if you want to. It keeps it fun and exciting. Congrats on the weight loss so far, you are going to do great Dave! Let me know if you have any questions.

  131. I’m on day two and I feel dreadful (had to be honest). I haven’t been able to come up with a green juice that I don’t have to choke down. Does it get easier? I’m discouraged, tired, and hungry, and the thought of a glass of juice…well I’m not sure I could do it.

    • Mary, that dreadful feeling is because you are going through detox after years of your previous eating habits. Give your body time to undo all that and get back to a healthy state. Sometimes the taste can play a big part in what we chose to eat or drink but remember that you aren’t doing this fast for the taste, you are doing it for your health. The taste will get batter as your taste buds reset and adjust. Stay strong Mary. I’m here if you have any questions.

  132. How many juices a day?

    • Meaghan, read through the site. I recommend you have between 4-6 juices per day with each being between 16-20 ounces. Hope this helps! I’m here if you have any questions.

  133. Hi, I would like to ask if I can have 4 juices and 2 salads daily in the 3 day juice fast plan?

    • Norma, if you did that it would defeat the purpose of the juice fast. Eating any solids on the fast will work against it. It’s okay if you are just doing it to gain additional nutrients but if your goal is to lose weight then you will want to go straight juice. Juicing works by resting, cleansing, and hydrating your digestive system. When you eat solids, that part doesn’t take place and your detox can last weeks instead of days. Stick to the juice for a a few days and then start including solids.

  134. I just started juicing on Monday. Ok well sort of, I just make a mean green everyday and drink it. I just found your site and I already love all the tips & recipes. So Ive decided next week (because I have a wine thing on Sat.) that I’ll try a 3 day just juicing. I have 50lbs to lose and I know it’s not going to be easy but thats ok. Im excited to try this.
Thanks for all your tips & recipes.

    • Nikki, congrats on committing to a 3 day juice fast! Try it out for 3 days and then extend it. Once you get past 3 days it’s easy! I’m here if you have any questions.

  135. I’m considering doing the 3 day juice fast. I was gifted The Classic Jack LaLanne Power Juicer it says it has a High Performance 3,600 RPM Induction Motor. I have never really juiced veggies like spinach and Kale and I wonder if I’m going to have a difficult time with this particular juicer? I really can’t afford another right now and just want to be sure this one will suffice for the time being.

    • It shouldn’t be complicated. Try rolling up your spinach or kale into a big ball when juicing it. It will help you to get more juice out of them. Give it a shot and let me know how it works out for you heather. It should work out fine for you. I’m here if you have any questions.

  136. Hi Donnie,
I just got a juicer for my birthday yesterday, and I will be starting a juice fast tomorrow morning. I have been procrastinating this for a while now, but since I got the right kind of juicer, I am definitely going to start tomorrow. I am thinking I will start off with a 3 day fast, but my goal is 7 days, at the least. I work 9-10 hours a day, and my work day starts at 5am. Is it going to be ok to store my juice in the refrigerator here at work? And if so, what do you recommend for a container to put my juice in to keep it fresh the longest?
Thanks for your information here and I will keep you posted!!
    Tammy

    • Happy Birthday Tammy and congrats on starting your juice fast! It will be fine to store your juices in the refrigerator at work. Just make them in the morning and keep them stored in air tight containers like mason jars or thermoses. Keep me posted on your status. I’m here if you have any questions.

      • Hi Donnie,
thank you!! And so far so good, I’ve already lost 5 lbs and I am starting to feel more energetic. It was hard the first 2 days, but i feel better today!! I have been drinking 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning for a very long time, so I did cheat a little the first morning, I only had 1/2 cup, but I have weened myself and I feel so much better!! Last night was the first time I have slept straight through the night in a very long time!!
Thank you for all the great tips and recipes!! I am going to move on to the 7 day, today is my 3rd day!!
        thank you so much again!!

        • Tammy, that’s great news! Congrats on 3 days and 5 pounds! It’s really incredible at how much your body can change while on the juice fast. I also noticed that my sleep patterns were much better than before my juice fast. I’m always here if you have any questions Tammy. Have an awesome day! Cheers!

  137. Hi Donnie, I’ve been looking for a very informative juicing site and I believe I have found it. I had my first juice “jolt juice” this morning…loved it. I had been food tested last year and have cut out most of the gluten and dairy in my life. Currently once a day I am on a protein shake of Brown Rice and coconut milk have been doing this for close to a year. A lot of salads with a protein for lunch and suppers. I have lost some weight, now I am hoping that this juice fast will kick start some more weight loss but most of all feeling more energized. I plan on being committed to this plan at least once a month for either 3 or 7 days. You have made this a lot easier than I thought possible. Thank you so much for all you help. Just one quick question: what can I substitute for Garlic…I love it but my husband hates when I eat it.

  138. I’m trying to drop 20-30lbs by the 28th for a jujitsu tournament. I’m trying to go from 225 down to 195. I train every day for about 3-4 hours a day, not all at once, anyways, would it be a could idea to start the 3-day juicing or no?

    • David, I don’t see a problem with it. If you want to lose that amount by the 28 this of this month though, you may be a little late in starting. Good luck in your tournament!

  139. Where is the 3rd day meal plan?
    Thanks

  140. Where is day 3 of the meal plan?
    Thanks

    • Angela, there are 6 recipes and you can choose any if these for your three day fast. It’s best to have between 4-6 juices per day with each being 16-20 ounces. Hope you understand it better now. I’m here if you have questions.

  141. I’ve been prepping myself for juice fast I was going to start next week with husband, but after having some juices these past few days I decided to start tomorrow. I’m on 5th week of my couch potato to 5k running program & don’t want to stop all exercise/progress I’ve made with running. Any suggestions? So much info to process I feel overwhelmed sometimes :) Keep calm and juice on!

    • Ysette, it’s best to get as much rest and relaxation as possible during the detox phase of your juice fast. Your body needs to heal during this time. If you insist on running, then do so but don’t over extend yourself. Listen to your body and when it tells you enough is enough you need to listen. Like you said, keep calm and juice on! I’m here if you have any questions.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll heed your advice & relax. But when do you think I can get back to running? Just depends on how I feel?

  142. heatherfeatherbird

I made the Morning Glory juice for my first breakfast on my 3 day fast and it is almost too sweet, even for me. I think I’ll be cutting back on the fruit in this one and maybe adding a green pepper instead. I’m really looking forward the the Bruschetta juice and plan to add some green onions to it!

    • Heather, adding onions is a really great way to add some flavor to your juices. For the Bruschetta juice, start off with only 1 clove of garlic as it is strong. Enjoy!

  143. Thank you !

  144. I was wondering about third day ? I started today and have everything cut and ready to go for tomorrow, but don’t see recipes for third?

    • The recipes are for three days Colleen. There are six recipes to choose from. You should have between four and six juices per day so feel free to have any juices you want.

The shopping list takes into consideration you’ll try all recipes so you should be good to go.

I’m here if you have any questions.

  145. Hey I am new to juicing, going on a cruise in just over a week and I would like to detox before eating/drinking for that week… But I bodybuild and dont want to sacrifice my gains I made! Would adding an unflavored protein to eat drink do enough for me?

    • Matt, you should be fine as long as you add an unflavored protein isolate to your juices and keep lifting. Don’t overdue your workouts during the first few days, and drink plenty of water.

I’m here if you have any questions Matt.

  146. Hi!

May I ask who came up with these meal plans? A trained Nutritionist?

About to start on my fast =)

    • Kim, I come up with all my own recipes and plans. While I do consult with trained nutritionists, I am not one myself. Feel free to consult with your nutritionist if you have any concerns. Also, congrats on getting ready to start your fast!

  147. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now trying to decide if juicing was something I’d really be able to do; I’m such a foodie that it was difficult trying to imagine giving up solid foods for any amount of time! But after reading your testimony, and all of the other great reviews/tips, I’ve decided to go for it. Today is Day 1 of 3 and I’m super excited – a little apprehensive about what I’m about to go through – but excited nonetheless. Thank you so much for this great blog!!

    • Townley, congrats on starting your juice fast! Just keep in mind that it’s only for a few days and the benefits are worth it. You can do this! I’m here if you have any questions.

  148. I’m planning to do the 3 day but am going to blend rather than juice with my Blendtec. Any problems with that?

  149. So I was able to convince 5 other people in my office to join in on the 3 Day Juice Fast Plan starting today. We thought there was strength in numbers to help get us through the challenge and we based our shopping off of the shortened list provided on this page. Buying and make juice for everyone was quite the ordeal which was made more difficult by the fact that the shopping list was inaccurate to the point of excluding 5 items completely and not having the right counts for apples (12-15 vs. 24), cucumbers (14 vs. 12), & Kale bunches (4-6 vs. 10). This made for some last minute scrambling and some late night runs to the store that could have been avoided if the list would have accurately added up the totals and ingredients (tomatoes, beets, garlic, basil,& oranges were all missing).

    • Kurt, welcome to JOJ and congrats on starting you fast! That’s really awesome that you were able to convince others to start! Sorry for the shopping list mishap. I had edited the page a while back and must have clipped the list short when I re-published it. I’ll get the list updated. Thank you for pointing that out. Keep me posted on your fast Kurt!

  150. Sorry lots of questions…but one more for the day…my girl friends are having a body wrap party…is it safe to do body wraps while juicing?

    • Rebecca, I don’t see anything wrong with doing body wraps while you juice. Go for it, have a great time!

  151. And in making my own recipe what it the suggested amount of fruits and vegetables for each glass of juice.

    • I suggest you stick to 20% fruits and 80% vegetables in your juices. If you’re asking how much of each, take a look at some of the recipes as they all have pictures of the ingredients laid out so you can get an idea. Make sure your juices are between 16-20 ounces and you’ll be fine. Hope this answers your question. I’ll be here if you have more questions.

  152. What can I switch cucumber with? My husband and I are not fond of juiced cucumber.

  153. Hello Donnie,
I’ve just started a 3 days (maybe 5 depending on my will power) plan for the first time.
Questions: I LOVE sushi (my favorite food) and after the fasting, do you recommend to eat or avoid certain type of food? Or can i go for my sushi?
Also, do you recommend the use of spirulina?
Can I put some mint leaves ? What about passion fruits/ papaya/ mango (I live in Costa Rica, so we have plenty of exotic fruits).

    Thank you Donnie !

    • Alva, definitely go for your sushi after your fast, it’s a very healthy choice. Spirulina is also a good choice and mint leaves are fantastic in juices! Try out all of those fruits as they all juice well and add a spectacular flavor to any juice. Half the fun is experimenting and coming up with your own recipes. Have at it and happy juicing! I’ll be here if you have questions.

  154. I just started a 3 day Juice Fast today. So far so good. I do have a question, above I read to start the day with a 1/2 lemmon mixed with warm or hot water. How long after I drink that do i drink my breakfast juice? Right away or should I be waiting?

    • Dan, thanks for your comment! I typically have my water with lemon right when I wake up. Then I go about my morning routine and have my juice last before I leave the house. It’s fine to wait a while between your water and lemon before you have your first juice of the day.

  155. I will definitely be joning you on Monday the 15th. I have been able to loose some weight with regular exercise and a low carb diet, but seem to have hit a plateau. I want to start with the 3 day Juice Fast plan and see if I can finally get rid of these last pounds.

    • LeboS, that’s great, I look forward to juicing with you! I’m sure you’ll get past that plateau and start getting some results from the juice. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  156. Thank you so much….my husband and I are starting this tomorrow and I just want to be ready. :)

    • Rebecca, you are very welcome. I wish you and your husband the best of luck on your juice fast. Remember, I’ll be here if you have any questions!

  157. I am wondering how one would do this that is in a car or office all day? I can’t exactly just carry a juicer around with me LOL Please any advice on this would be appreciated.

    • Rebecca that’s a common question. It’s okay to make your juices in the morning and take them to work with you. I used to prep my produce the night before and place each meal in its own gallon size ziploc bag. That way in the morning I just pulled out the bags, juiced each one, cleaned up and was on my way. Make sure you store them in a fridge and they will hold up. I’ll be here if you have any questions Rebecca.

  158. I work out with a trainer, twice a week. Can I juice and work with him as well?

    Thank you! :)

    • Mary, thanks for your comment. I see no reason why you can’t juice and see your trainer. Try to keep exercise light during the first few days of your fast and you’ll do just fine! If your trainer has any doubts or questions just refer him to the site. I’ll be here if you have any questions Mary.

  159. Hello!
First off thanks for making this site, it really is a good guide for those of us new to juicing! My question is how much spinach do you use when substituting for kale? Thanks!

    • Maria, thanks for your comment! I’m glad you enjoy the site. When substituting spinach for kale I find that I usually add a handful of spinach per two leaves of kale. You may add more if you like. I’ll be here if you have questions.

  160. What a great plan! I’m so excited that you have this available for people like me! My question is this:
I’m allergic to carrots {also watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, walnuts, and bananas. Can I just leave the carrots out of the recipe or should I substitute something else in its place and if so, then what?

    • Thank you for your comment Kathrynthemezzo! For carrots you may try substituting a fruit do to the sugar content. Or you could simply leave it out. But feel free to experiment and replace with anything you like.

  161. Hi! Going to start my juice detox tomorrow can I use a blender or does it have to be a juicer?

  162. Hey Donnie! I’m starting the juice cleanse today and was wondering if turning the juice into more of a smoothie would be ok? Thank you!

    • Michelle, if you mean adding some fruits and vegetables and blending them then no, it’s not okay. You can’t add any solids or blend any solids into your juice. This would add fiber to the juice and take you off of the juice fast. You can to make sure you aren’t taking in any solids even if then are blended in. The juice fast works by putting your digestive system to rest. When you add solids into the mix you are kicking your digestive system back into gear.

On the other hand, if you want to throw your juice in a blender and add in some ice it will work to make it a little colder and thicker. Just make sure you are making your juice in the juicer and not the blender! Only use the blender to blend in the ice with your already made juice. Enjoy!

  163. Hiiii!!!! I found out about your blog a month ago I think and I’ve been planning my first 3 days juice fast, and tomorrow is the day!! I went to buy everything today and I will be starting tomorrow 😀 Very excited to see the results on how I’m going to feel. I’m a student in college and I’ll be working in a summer camp starting next week. I’m thinking of juicing only on week-ends for this summer, but when I go back to studying fulltime end-august, I’d like to juice fast during the week, which would make it easier for me to go through my day in school, ’cause I don’t have much time to sit and eat in between my classes. Any suggestions on which juices I should make to get a lot of energy? Thank you in advance, and thank you for this blog, been reading it a lot!

    • Yellow_angel, thanks for your comment and congrats on deciding to start your juice fast!

You should juice for a week to get the hang of it and then when you juice over the weekends it will be a breeze!

Juices with oranges in them will give you some good energy. You can also substitute oranges for apples on any of the recipes and they will be great! Try out a few and you’ll figure out what works for you.

The first three days you might feel sluggish due to your body going through detox but after that its an awesome feeling!

Have a great time at summer camp and keep me posted. I’ll be here if you have any questions!

  164. Starting day two of my first 3 day fast. Not too bad until last night. A slight headache at bedtime but woke up feeling refreshed. Like the energy rush from the juice.

    • Congrats on day 2 Tim! You can take tylenol or ibuprofen if you get headaches. It sounds like you are having normal detox symptoms. That’s great! Keep it up!

  165. Hi Donnie,

I’ve been looking through some of the comments and I’m going to commit to the 7-Day plan (along with exercise). My question is…I’m 100% addicted to coffee. :) Will this plan help remove that “want” from my daily routine?

    Thank you :)

    • Marcy, that is part of the fast. After 7 days of juice you probably won’t have a desire for the coffee anymore.

  166. What about protein? Going to do the 3 day.

  167. Can I still drink tea in between meals or strictly water?

    • Liz R, you can drink tea. Stay away from black teas as they are high in caffeine. Stick to your green and white tea and you’ll be fine. Just remember to still drink plenty of water.

  168. Hi, I’m taking vit D supplements, do I stop taking them while juicing?
    Thanks

    • Andrea, thanks for your comment. Yes, you should stop taking it unless it was ordered by a doctor. You’ll get plenty of nutrients from the juice :)

  169. Hello, am starting the 7 day flush tomorrow was wondering are any of the other juices posted on the website interchangeable for the juices on the 7 day plan?? Also I work long hours so will not be available for each meal, do the juices keep well if prepared the night before??

    • Cara, congrats on starting your fast! All of the juices can be swapped out. Drink the ones you enjoy the most and feel free to experiment.

While juices will last, it’s best to prep them in the morning. That way they aren’t losing anymore nutritional value than they have to. Hope this helps. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

      • I have a few questions…. Do I juice the beet greens? And do I juice the whole orange,.or do I peel it?

        • Kadi, you can juice the greens if you want to. I usually do not juice the beet greens. Definitely peel the oranges as the orange peel is extremely bitter. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  170. Can I make juice ahead of time and freeze??? I am not able to make juice at work….

    • Melanie, You can make your juices in the morning and take them to work with you as long as you store them in a fridge. I’ve never made juice and froze it but it would be interesting to try it out. It’s best to consume your juice as soon as you can after making it.

  171. Does this promote weight loss? :)

    • Hannah, among many other health benefits, weight loss will happen if you juice. Some people want to juice for the health benefits without losing much weight and that is possible also. You have to define your goals first and then set a path to reaching them. If losing weight is a goal of yours, juicing will be great for you!

  172. Hi Donnie,
I just started juicing today…I have committed to 3 days but because today has been so easy for me I am thinking about going 7. Who knows, I may go longer. My question is….ginger is in a lot of the recipes. I know I can put in or omit anything to my taste. There must be a reason why you have ginger in a lot of the recipes, what are the benefits. I don’t really like the taste and have started just putting in half of what is recommended. Your web site is fantastic by the way, very informative.

    Thanks for your time

    • Sandy, congrats on starting your juice fast! You’ll feel amazing in a few days! Ginger is a great digestive aid, it also helps to relieve tummy pain, nausea, diarrhea, as well as morning sickness and travel sickness. Ginger is also a great anti-inflammatory and has the ability to eliminate cancerous ovarian cells. That’s why it’s great to include it in your juices. But it does have a powerful taste so feel free to limit the amount you put in. You also don’t have to put it in every juice. I find it’s best to at least include it in one or two of your juices. I always make sure it’s in my morning juice. Glad you enjoy the site! Let me know how your juice fast goes!

  173. I strongly dislike several vegetables, two of which show up in almost every recipe I have seen. Do you have any suggestions to substitute for cucumber and/or celery? Thanks!

    • Elizabeth, sorry to hear you don’t like cucumber or celery. Try replacing them with zucchini and romaine lettuce and see how it goes. Keep me posted. Thanks!

      • I was curious how zucchini and squash would do in a juice because I don’t think I’ve seen it in any recipes yet. Thanks for the ideas.

  174. I was on a juice fast two weeks ago and used some of your suggested ingredients. One was blueberries, unfortunately my juicer made the blueberries like a sorbet, Unless you have a juicer that can juice soft fruits, soft berries will be a problem juicing.

    • Mcdoulble, What kind of juicer are you using? Most centrifugal juicers will juice softer fruits just fine.

  175. Hi Donnie,

Found your page on Pinterest and boy did you come right on time I am not new to juicing started in Jan this year and slowly have lost about 20 lbs and I feel great , well with that being said I have 3 people including my daughter who would like to start a 3 day fast before going full speed ahead. would love to have your support I going to send each of them a link to the page to get the shopping list and support , we are starting memorial Day weekend which is cool we can relax and enjoy what comes next!!!

    • Dana, congrats on losing 20 pounds! That’s very impressive! Tell your friends to post often on the forum and get a group juice fast going. It will be great for them to have a place to post and chat about it. Thanks for the comment and congrats on your juice fast! Maybe you can join us for a group fast.

  176. I juiced for the first time today & wanted to know how long the juice can be kept in the refrigerator. I did the ‘Morning Glory’ as directed and have way too much to drink at once.

Also, I’m planning on replacing just one meal a day with a juice or 2. How will it benefit my health for replacing just the one meal?

Thanks for any helpful info & for this wonderful site you’ve created.
    God Bless!!

    • Tracy, juicing only one meal a day will still be beneficial to your health. Juice can be stored as long as it’s in an airtight container. The juice will lose nutritional value the longer it sits in the fridge, so it’s best to drink it as soon as possible. Thanks for the comment Tracy!

  177. Just started juicing, with my first one in hand as we speak. Im somewaht nervous about the headaches, but I know that it is just my body detoxing. Also, Donnie do you or have you ever put an Emergen C packet in your juice? I did and figured it wouldnt hurt.

Love this page and feeling hopeful

    Thanks!!

    • Kassi, If you do get headaches, it’s perfectly fine to take a tylenol or ibuprofen. While Emergen C is great I wouldn’t suggest using it during your fast. You want to stay just on juice for the duration of your fast. Let the nutrients from the fresh fruits and veggies do their job with as little interference as possible. Enjoy, and congrats on just starting! I suggest you head to the forums ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) and make a post that you can keep up to date with your juice fast. I’ll check it daily and help you with any questions you might have. Thanks Kassi!

  178. I enjoy frozen fruit. Is it OK to use frozen fruit (in a bag from the grocery store) in these recipes? Thanks

    • It’s okay to freeze your fruits or veggies and then thaw them out to juice. Frozen produce maintains its nutritional value but has to be thawed out in order to juice. Hope this helps.

  179. Hey, thanks for the amazing information! I really cant stand celery, can you suggest an alternative? I was thinking of perhaps using avocado?

    • Mhairi, thanks for you comment. As a replacement for celery I would try romaine lettuce or cabbage. Either of those two would be great substitutions. Try out the avocado too, I’m sure that would add some flavor to your juice. Let me know what you do and how it works out.

  180. my gallbladder was remove many years ago will this cause a problem when i start my juice fast. I plan to start next week.

    • Sandi, it shouldn’t be a problem for you to juice after having your gallbaldder removed. The gallbladder helps release bile for the breakdown of fats. The liver is what holds your toxins. So I don’t really see how it would affect you on a juice diet or any natural whole food diet. Congrats on planning out your juice fast! Now you need to start it! Post up a group juice fast in the forum (http://www.justonjuice.com/forum) and I’ll join you. I’ll be here if you have any questions Sandi.

  181. is there any alternative for beet and kale..?

    • Flordeliza, thanks for comment. A good substitute for beet is carrot and a good substitute for kale is spinach. Hope this helps!

  182. Hey Donnie! I also stumbled on your site and I am so glad I did :). I feel like I have a support system instead of reading a book on juicing. I admit Ive had my juicer for 10 years and have been starting to put it to use once a day just to get some real good stuff in my body. I am 43 and just want to feel better. I am not overweight but I just think it has been years of build up of crud in my body and I know juicing and changing my eating habits will help me. I just think at 43 with no health issues -I should just not feel tired with no energy. I have been in contact with several people that juice and it really made me think about seriously doing this. I even just purchased a book by Norman walker and it really makes sense – fresh vegetable and fruit juices. So I have been juicing carrots, cucumbers, celery, beets. I never liked beets as a child but it is delicious in this mixture. Can’t wait to start on this cleanse. Thanks for all your work on this site. I am excited just to read and research. And with fresh produce coming along very soon – this is the perfect time to begin!

    • Duranie, thanks for the comment and welcome to JustOnJuice! Juicing has so many benefits and does wonderful things not only for our bodies but our minds as well. I hear so many wonderful stories from people who tell me about their juice fast and what its done for them. My mother is 54 years old and was always healthy, active, not overweight but always tired and lacked energy. Once I turned her on to juicing it all changed for her. She’s in amazing shape and feels better than she has in a very long time. Let me know when you’re ready to start a full out juice fast and I’ll juice along with you Duranie! Thanks for the comment.

You should visit the JustOnJuice forums ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) and read some of the group juice fast posts.

  183. Thank you Donnie!!! I will be on juicer hunt:0)) I let you know when I will be ready:0))

  184. Hello! I am new to juicing. I am looking to have it replace meals and add nutriets to my day! I like the juicing fast but I am a nursing mom. How would you recommend adding juicing for a nursing mom?

    Thanks,
    Azalea

    • Azalea, thanks for your comment. The best way to know what is best for you and your baby is to check with your pediatrician. The only way I would think it would be okay is if you continued to take a prenatal vitamin during your fast. But for you and your baby specifically it’s best that you ask advice from your pediatrician as the problem I do see is that once you go on a fast, toxins are released from your body and may end up in your milk. So I would highly suggest talking with your doc to ensure a fast is going to be healthy for the both of you before making the decision to juice right now.

  185. Hey!!! Just felt over this pages as I was looking for some juicing plans!!! Really like what I am reading and it seams like you really know what you are talking about!!! I have never juiced, I got a nutribulet for Christmas and have used it every morning!!! But now I am thinking that I want to try the juicing fast!!!! Can I still use my nutribulet? I am starting a boot camp (crossfitt workout) tomorrow, can you do that kind of a workout when juicing? I am not a fitt girl, diffently need to loos weight!!!! Hope you can help me out!!! Thank you. Hanne:0))

    • Hanne, thanks for the comment and welcome to JustOnJuice! It’s important that you use a juicer and not a blender or mixer during the juice fast. The reason being is that you need to remove the fiber from your diet during the duration of your fast. If you do plan on juicing while on a crossfit workout it might be best to include some more protein in your diet. You can do this by adding pure unflavored protein isolate to your drinks to ensure you get that extra needed protein that a cossfit workout will require. It’s not necessary but may help you in your goal to lose weight. There are plenty of good juicers out there and I suggest one of the three at http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers as they are all priced very well from $59 up. Let me know when you’re ready to start and I’ll see about starting up a group juice fast to get some more people to join us. I’ll juice along with you Hanne!

  186. Going to try on Monday what if you don’t like beets

    • That’s great Kay! I’m starting a group juice fast on Monday, you should join us! Not everyone is a fan of beets. If you don’t like any one ingredient then just replace it with something you do like. A good substitute for beets are carrots. Let me know how you like it.

  187. Hi, I just recently found your website and am definitely hoping to try a 3 day juice fast soon! Total newbie at juicing and was wondering is it possible to use thawed out frozen fruit (blueberries, mango, etc)? Does it being frozen effect the amount of juice you would get? Have some bags of it in my freezer and was hoping to use them. Thanks so much for all the great information your website provides!!

    • Dawn, welcome to JustOnJuice! Thanks for the comment. Frozen fruits are fine to use due to the fact that when they are frozen, they hold their nutritional value. You might notice a difference in their taste but I would assume it’s not too big of a difference. You will most likely lose some juice during the thawing out process but I think it will be fine. Dawn, you should head over to the forums (http://www.justonjuice.com/forum) and join our 3 Day group juice fast coming up! If you can’t join this one, create a new group juice fast and I’m sure others will join up! Thanks!

  188. Thank you….I figured that was the case. Also, any tips or tricks for efficiently juicing greens? I have the Breville BJE510XL (Fountain series). I usually try and roll my spinach/kale and turn the speed to low, but the result is little juice. I know that most articles recommend a ‘masticating juicer’ for leafy greens, buI I am not planning on juicing greens on a daily basis, so for this reason and of course cost, I chose the Breville. ~ Thanks

    • Carmen, you’ll get more juice from Kale than you will from Spinach. I typically have to use a lot of spinach to get a good amount of juice. I also don’t force the Spinach down the shoot but instead let the juicer do the work and slowly push down on the plug as it’s juicing. I find I get more juice out of it this way.

  189. Hi, I was wondering why your directions say to add sliced beets. If the whole beet fit in my chute, do you still recommend to slice?

    Thanks for your time.

    • Carmen, I usually slice the beet so it’s a little easier on the juicer. You can put it in whole if you like. Beets are tough so be gentle and don’t force them, let the juicer do the work for you.

  190. hi donnie… im starting tomorrow- using your site and recipes. the plan is to do 3 days and see how it goes from there. i have a lot of undoing to do- lots of excess fat, a stubborn digestive system that needs to be ‘highly motivated’ to move, a serious coffee addiction- and im a vegetarian! im alone doing this, so any support, suggestions or otherwise would be greatly welcomed! thanks for putting up this site- of all the stuff out there on juicing and fasting, this one is the most informative. following you on pinterest, too. christine
    http://pinterest.com/cbarr63/

    • Christine, I’m glad you enjoy the site, and thanks for following me. If you tell yourself “I’m going to do this for three days and that’s final” you’ll do it. You just have to get into the right mindset and make that commitment to give just three days and do it. If coffee is a huge addiction, drink a half cup in the morning and then decaf throughout the day. Head over to the forum and post that your starting a juice fast. More and more people will help to motivate you on the forums. Plus I’ll check up on you throughout those three days! You can do this Christine, I’ll be here for you.

  191. Thanks**

    • Thanks Eddy! It would be best to do this on your off days so you don’t get fatigued but you would burn more calories while you take in less calories on your gym days. If you do fast on your gym days, just make sure you are taking in enough protein via the powder and use a lot of spinach, romaine lettuce, and kale. Those have a lot of protein in them.

  192. Wow that’s for the advice . Your reallly knowledgable about this. I wanted to say great article . I re read my post and seen i had some grammar errors lol. Yes I just want to maintain what I have. but I want to do the full out juicing Program so I can have the benefits that come with the cleansing. I do have mass gainer in the cabinet but I want to curt down the weight water weight and or fat that’s covering up my abs. Also should I do this on my off days from the gym ?

  193. I’m a noobie to juicing , and I do t want to loose weight I just want to detox I workout everyday and I’m in great shape. I’m just worried I will loose weight if I do the 3 say program. Is that true ? Thanks

    • Eddy, thanks for the comment. Are you worried about losing weight in general or are you concerned with losing muscle mass? One good thing to do to counter any kind of muscle loss while on the detox is to include a pure unflavored protein isolate into your drinks and maintain your workout. This will make sure your protein intake is suitable. If you’re in great shape already, you probably won’t lose much if any weight but water weight while on the 3 day fast. You can also include one light meal per day consisting of fresh veggies and a protein like a chicken breast. Juicing will definitely help you in any cutting phase of a workout. I’ll be here if you have any more questions.

  194. Never mind I just read your comment above. Thanks!

    • Not a problem Nicole. Glad you figured it out. Just remember that 4-6 juices, each 16-20 ounces is average. Some people may drink more than that.

  195. Hi, I’m confused! So each meal (breakfast, lunch & dinner) above is one juice per meal per day, right?? Sorry got confused.

  196. The shopping list above seems to list more ingredients than the actual recipes posted above it. Are the juices for this 3-day juice fast meant to be taken more than once?

    • Joshua, thanks for you comment. During the fast you should be having between four and six juices per day. Sometimes more if you still feel hungry. The shopping list is a good outline and gives you plenty of space to try different juices throughout those three days. Some people will have extra produce after 3 days, and some even have to go get more.

  197. Can you take vitamin supplements while detoxing?

    • I wouldn’t recommend it due to the fact that when you are juice fasting you are already putting so many different nutrients in your system. If you stay one a good 3 day juice fast and use a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables you won’t have the need to add any supplements to you fast.

  198. Hi, love this site and all the juicing tips. I’m really into smoothies and I’m kind of new in this juicing thing. But I plan to start a 3-day juice fast this week. So this question maybe kind of stupid, but how much water should I add to my juices?

    • Jessica, thanks for the comment! I’m glad you like JustOnJuice.com. As far as adding water, you shouldn’t need to add water to any of your juices unless they are too strong for you. Adding water is typically used for smoothies and not juices. Congrats on starting the 3 Day Juice Fast! You should head over to the forums ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) and post on the Group Juice Fast Topic. We have several people starting a juice fast this Monday and you are very welcome to join us. I’ll be here if you have any questions Jessica.

      • Thanks for the quick reply! And I’ve just joined the forum, thank you again for the invitation.
Congratulations on this site, it’s amazing!

  199. Hi, love this site and all the juicing tips. I

  200. Iris, I’m sorry to hear of your setbacks. I understand your scared of kidney stones so let me clear that up for you. Kidney stones are 60% less common in people who follow diets that are vegetarian. A diet high in fluid and low in protein is the best preventive medicine. Also, diets high in animal proteins encourage stone formation.

I hope this alleviates your kidney stone concern :)

    • You know what you have made it easy for me,i feel like someone is trying to tell me incidentally that my decisions for the HCG diet were wrong and i am sooooooooo glad to hear from you ,my husband and me are totally over the edge on these diets concerns ,now he too is happy that atleast i am trying to think straight! too much of anasthesia last year has made me take bad decisions this year ! just hope and pray for me that i dont fall into the category of people who are not able to keep on there right decisions just because we are in need of fast results.i hope i am able to start this week,i have taken your advice very seriously as of now i have made my list going to macys to buy breville ! and hoping if the farmers market is open then i may be able to start by monday if not then for sure this week ! i will go on a three day fast! just keep me motivated i do need this, thanks!

    • Iris, I’m glad you found JustOnJuice.com and thank you for the warm comments. You will feel so much better, relieved, and excited when you do your fast. It truly is a life changing experience. You can do this! There are plenty of options for you to get started. One very good way to get started is to juice and eat a lite meal for dinner during the first 3 days. This will get your system used to the juice and prepare you to go on a full out juice fast. For the first three days eat one lite meal of fruits and veggies with a protein (chicken breast, pork chop, steak, tuna). Then do the next 3-4 days with just juice. I will be here to help you out every step of the way. I suggest you register on the forums ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) as we do a lot of group fasts. Group fasts are great for support and motivation. When you are ready, I’ll be glad to fast with you :) We have a 3 day fast starting this Monday if you are ready.

If you can’t take ginger then simply exclude it from your juices. No harm done. But I think the more you juice and hydrate yourself, the faster your dry skin problem will go away. I suggest you read as much as you possibly can here at JustOnJuice.com to familiarize yourself with juicing. Get prepared and then set a start date and along with the goals you wish to achieve. If you don’t have a juicer yet, I have an article that tells you what you need to look for in a juicer and where to get them with discounts ( http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers ). Welcome to juicing Iris! I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  204. Hi- Im new to juicing but super excited. I was wondering if it was possible to make all meals ahead say on the morning of eachday. This will help me maintain the cleanse at work, plus all the cleaning can be done at one time. I will store the juice in the fridge. What are your thoughts on make ahead juice?

    • Rosa-Anna, juicing is a great experience that will change your life! Glad you are excited! You can make your juices ahead of time, but I would recommend doing so ONLY with the juices you absolutely can’t make and drink at home. Try to drink your morning juice at home before you leave. Make a few juices to take with you to work but try to make your last juice fresh. The longer a juice sits, the more it loses nutritional value. But it won’t lose so much that it will be ineffective. When I first started I was worried I would be spending so much time cleaning the juicer, but it actually takes about 3 minutes to do. If you have any questions I’ll be here. Also, head over to the forums ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) and sign up for a group fast. We are starting a 3-Day group fast this Monday if you are interested.

  205. I just got a Jack Lalanne juicer and I’ve made a few green smoothies and am convinced I can survive a 3 day juice fast. I’m glad I stumbled across your site. I’ll follow you on FB and Twitter too. BTW, I fogot to add ginger to my morning drink. What is the benefit of adding ginger?

    • Hi Monica, thanks for the comment. I’m sure you can do it for 3 days and might even go for a full 7 days. As far as ginger goes it’s a great digestive aid, it relieves stomach cramps along with nausea and diarrhea. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory. Overall it’s very good for to add to your drinks but if you forgot to add it I wouldn’t worry. The taste can be overpowering so use it sparingly. I’ll be here if you have any questions Monica.

  206. I don’t see any beets on the shopping list, i’m assuming 3-5 will do? Thanks,I’m starting a 3 day juice fast this weekend, this is a great guide.

    • Thanks Shel, I added the beets to the shopping list. 3-5 Beets will do just fine. Congrats on starting your juice fast. You’ll feel awesome after 3 days and might even want to go on to do 7 days of juicing! Head over to the forums ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) and sign up for a group juice fast! We have one starting this coming Monday, or you can post a new group fast with your start date and see if others will join you.

  207. Blueberries are not in season here right now… What would be an alternative for them in breakfast drink recipe? or do you have another recipe suggestion to drink instead?

    • Isabel, the fun part of juicing is the creativity and flexibility you have when it comes to recipes. Feel free to mix things up and try out substitutions. A good substitute for blueberries would be blackberries, grapes, or even mango. Remember, if something is out of season or you simply just aren’t a fan of a particular ingredient, replace it with something you enjoy or something you think would be a good substitute. Have fun with it Isabel!

  208. Thanks Donnie!! Looking online now for a juicer, and planning on starting Monday! Hoping to prep my body this weekend for my juicing journey!

    • ChioAlex, take a look at this article I wrote on juicers. It goes into detail on what you should look for when selecting a juicer. ( http://www.justonjuice.com/juicers ) I’m also starting another 3 day fast on Monday. Visit the forum ( http://www.justonjuice.com/forum ) and sign up for Monday under the “Group Fasts” section. There are currently 2 of us starting a 3 day fast this coming Monday. It would be great if you joined along with us and posted about your progress.

  209. I’m new to this. So are we only able to drink the 3 juices as our 3 “meals” of the day, and water in between?

    • ChioAlex, welcome to JustOnJuice. When you are juicing, it’s best to just make a juice when you feel hungry. It’s important to make sure you are taking in a good amount of nutrients per day when juicing. In a typical day you should juice between 4 and 6 drinks that are between 16 and 20 ounces with plenty of water in between juices. There are two juices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to offer you a variety in choices. I’ll be here if you have any questions. Thanks!

      • There is only 3 meals listed above, what do we eat for the other 3 meals?Above you stated we should eat between 4-6 meals a day.
        Thank you,
        Julissa

        • Julissa, thanks for pointing that out. I made a change the other day and for some reason the page was missing the other recipes. It’s been updated now so you should be able to see all 6 recipes. Thank you! If you have any questions just let me know.

      • What about those people who have a very hectic schedule?I would love to juice but I am often working 11 hours with no lunch break. Can I make the juices the night before?

        • Keisha, make your juices in the morning and take them with you. As long as you store them in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator until your ready to drink them, they will be fine. If you make them the night before, they may lose too much of their nutritional value and start to ferment. Try making them in the morning and bringing them with you. For that long of a shift I’d make sure and bring 4-5 juices just to be safe.

  210. Oops nevermind, I was able to find it :)
