Tornado Juice Recipe

Tornado Juice Recipe

Tornado Juice Recipe

The Tornado Juice Recipe packs such a great flavor that it will blow you away! It’s like a tornado of flavors in your mouth. I have been drinking this for lunch and it’s now my go to lunch drink. It’s a bold yet refreshing juice that doesn’t taste too sweet, too sour, or too bland. The juice consists of orange, apple, lemon, ginger, carrot, spinach, celery, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber. It’s perfect if you’re craving something that tastes like its fresh from the garden but not overwhelming with the fruits. As a matter of fact, you don’t get much fruit taste at all. Everything goes together very well to give it a whirling balance of flavors that all meld together really well.

Tornado Juice Recipe Ingredients

Tornado Juice Recipe

  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Apple
  • ¼ Lemon (peeled)
  • 1 Inch of Fresh Ginger Root
  • 1 Carrot of normal size
  • 1 Big Handful of Spinach
  • 2 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Handful or Cup of Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1 Full Size Cucumber

Juice these up and enjoy it plain, heated up like a soup, or even over ice. Either way, it’s a great juice that provides plenty of fresh vitamins, nutrients, and minerals to keep you going throughout your busy day. I tend to drink the Tornado Juice Recipe plain or warm on most days. Add some pepper or some of your favorite hot sauce to give it a real kick.

If you’re not fond of some of the ingredients I’ve come up with a few substitutions that might work out better for you. The cucumber can be replaced with either Romaine Lettuce or a Zucchini. Oranges and Apples can be replaced with other fruits such as Plums or Pears and it will still provide a good flavor. Alternatively you can use 2 oranges or 2 apples if you want to. Spinach can be easily replaced with Kale or Romaine Lettuce and you’ll still get your protein. The main ingredient in here is the Cherry Tomatoes but I’m sure you could replace those with another kind of Tomato if you want to.

I hope you enjoy the Tornado Juice Recipe and comment if you did. Also, comment if you tried any of the substitutions and enjoyed them! If you think it really blows, also let me know…

  1. Hi Donnie,

Great recipe. I’ve been juicing for a few years now and like trying different things. All of your recipes have been good. Thanks and best wishes!

  2. Hi Donnie,

Just started the Juice fast today. Weighed in at a whopping 94.6kg. I’m wondering why you peel the lemons, as I eat them like apples. Is it bad to eat the skin and hold I stop?

Hoping to last 10 days and I’ve got my wife helping me by joining me.

    Fingers crossed

  3. I am very impressed with the results that I have read mostly about juicing, though I have not tried a 7 day full blown detox juicing but have decided to try it this week. I have been juicing for 2 weeks now but only during dinner time or once a day. I experimented myself on these basic recipe. 1 mandarin orange, 2 medium apples, 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup of kale leaves, 1 cup of carrots, and a half lime. I am very amazed with the taste it produced and became more excited in juicing.
Question: After detoxing for 7 days, should you continue that or should I go back to juicing once a day. How many glasses of juice is really the good amount/ ideal intake per day? Thank you very much.

  4. Does spinach or wheatgrass juice in a centrifuge juicer, or do I need a different type of juicer (like masticating)?

I have a juicer that uses a centrifuge mechanism that slams the fruit against a rotation grate to obtain juice. This seems this the spinach or wheatgrass is too light to work in this type of juicer, do you use a certain technique so that it juices more effectively? (I have a off brand centrifuge juicer)

    • Hi Paige, I use a normal centrifuge juicer for the spinach. I jam a handful don the chute and juice it followed by some slices of cucumbr and it seems to come out ok.

I have just finished day 3 of a juice fast!

  5. Hi Donnie , i am really excited to start my fast tomorrow after all my research ! As i have a really busy lifestyle i liked to prepare my juices all in the morning i was wondering if i can fill them into a metal thermo flask ? And for the recipes with beetroot , can i use the already cooked and vacuum packed ones or do i need to buy raw beetroot ? Thank you

  6. Hi,
I’ve been researching the juice fast for several days. I ordered the Omega Vert low speed juicing system. Until it came in I’ve been drinking the NAKED beverages during the day. Lots of water and a lite dinner. This is my third day.
Now that its here I will be heading to the grocery store tonight to get my fruits and veggies. Thank you so much for all of your insight. I will keep you posted on my progress and my opinions on drink recipes. Just one question… How do I incorporate juicing into my everyday life after the 7 day detox?
    Thanks, Jen

  7. Howdy! So I see a large amount of breastfeeding questions and comments all over the internet regarding juice fasting. If I may offer insight as a nursing momma who tried it, don’t go full-blown juice. Toxins do release, which I didn’t know, but also I drank approximately a gallon of juices and a gallon of water and still my milk supply greatly diminished and my son would not nurse well. The next few days and nights were agony for him. He couldn’t sleep well and was crying most of the day. His doctor let me know it was the juice fast. I now juice about 3-4 times per day, but I also eat small meals like a tuna and white bean salad or grapes with walnut chunks. I found out a bit late juice fasting is not great for breastfeeding babies, but was able to use the juice as a catalyst to eat much cleaner. This girl was at a fast food joint literally every day. Now I’m grossed out at the idea because my body feels so clean and lively.

Thank you for all these recipes! I’ve been having a grand old time with them, tweaking and adjusting. My daughter loves watching the pulp shoot out the back of the juicer lol

    • Gené, thank you for posting on this. I always tell nursing moms that a full juice fast isn’t the way to go for the same reasons you stated. It’s good to have someone come forward and share their experience. I’m glad you found a way to juice and eat healthy. It’s really amazing how our bodies can change if given the chance. I wish you and your baby all the best Gené!

My sons love helping me make juice. They enjoy putting the produce down the shoot and watching it turn into juice. It’s always a bet on what color the juice is going to turn out and how good it’s going to taste. So far they love to try out the juices. By getting them involved at a young age I hope to instill healthy habits in them as they get older. I only wish I had been introduced to juicing much earlier in my life.

      Cheers Gené!

  8. hello im going to try to detox but I don’t know if I should talk with my doctor or not because im epileptic the reason I want to detox is because she told me that im pre diabetic, and I don’t need to be both diabetic and epileptic at the same time, I have the jucier and veggies and everything but should I talk to her first before I started this, any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

    • Nicole, it’s always a good idea to talk with your doctor if you have circumstances like that. The way I look at it is that talking to a trained medical professional can’t hurt and can only help. You can start including a few juices throughout the day until you see your doctor. Let me know what your doctor has to say Nicole. I’m always here if you need me.

  9. hello do i need to peel the cucumber?

  10. Do I need to peel the cucks?

  11. Just wanted to say a big thank you for your juice recipes. I tried the juicing fast for one day, I had a lot of headaches and uneasiness – is it because of the detox symptoms? However, I felt great the next day and clear, and I have juice in the mornings and as a snack through the day. Thanks again! Will try this one tonight

    • Maisa, the headaches and uneasiness is due to the detox symptoms and usually passes by day 3 after the toxins pass. Keep me posted and let me know if you have any questions.

  12. I have green tomatoes…would those work in this recipe? They are what was left in my garden before the frost & I was hoping to use them. If not this recipe, do you have any other recipes that they would be good in? Also, do you ever use turnip greens? I heard those are really good for you. Getting ready to start juicing for the 1st time & thanks to your recipes, I am actually looking forward to it! I LOVE to eat, so I had been nervous about trying this…but your recipes look good & sound filling.

    • Marcie, green tomatoes would work fine and so will turnip greens. Feel free to experiment and make the juices your own. Let me know if you have any questions.

  13. hi,
just wondering if it is fine to be on a juice diet while pregnant or breast feeding. i dont want baby to get toxins or anything. please advise. thanks :-)

    • Kathy, it’s good to include juices into your diet when fasting or nursing but I wouldn’t recommend a straight juice fast while you are doing so do to the nature of the toxins being released into your bloodstream and the detox process. It’s best to ask your doctor when changing up your diet during pregnancy or while you’re nursing. So ask your doctor as he/she will be more familiar with your circumstance. Keep me posted. I’m here if you have any questions.

  14. Hi …I love your site…I was curious about the refrigeration part. I work 12.5 hour shifts in a hospital. I am wondering if you have any pointers on how to sustain that time line juicing. Also to add to the 12.5 shift i have a 1 hour commute each way. Any Ideas will be helpful.
    Thank you

    • Welcome to JOJ JayC! You’ll have to bring some juices with you. Make sure your juices are in airtight containers and stored in the refrigerator. Bring 3-4 juices with you and you should be good to go. Keep me posted and I wish you the best of luck on your fast! I’m here if you have any questions.

  15. I’m sure this question has been asked, but I haven’t found it, yet. What’s your recommendation on frozen fruits and veggies?? Okay or not okay??

    • Djsnelling, frozen fruits and veggies are fine as long as you let them completely thaw before you use them. Let me know if you have any questions.

  16. Hi I love you dite juice and intrested to start right away but just wondering after 7 days juice dite or 14 days dite what we have to eat back to normal or ??

  17. I am overweight and out of shape…really considering doing a juice diet my only problem is that I don’t eat FRUITS..except for pineapples only…Am I able to do a proper cleanse without incorporating fruits in my diet?

    • Kim, are you allergic to fruits or you just don’t like them? If you don’t like them you don’t have to use them but it’s good to include a little bit in your juices to cover up some of the harsh veggie tastes. Try sticking with granny smith apples and lemons for your fruits. They blend in really well with just about everything. Keep me posted on your status and let me know how your fast goes. I’m here if you have any questions.

  18. I have been using juicing now for a while to get the micro nutrients into my body amd absorbed a lot easier and will add i have noticed a marked increase for the better in how i feel. Lee

  19. Donnie, I am 67 and my husband is 77 years old. Today is the beginning of our 3rd day of juicing. Our favorite recipes are the Banana Pie and Morning Glory because they are nice and sweet. We also like the Tornado Juice, and the Sunset Passion. We are not crazy about the taste of broccoli in the drinks, but we know it is good for us. Last night we both slept very well. Usually we are up and down. Do you think this was because of the Just Juice? Also, I read that we don’t need to take our multi-vitamin, however I do believe we should continue with our current medications; don’t you think? (high blood pressure, cholesterol medication and more). My husband has diabetic neuropathy, do your medical consultants think this will help his condition? Thank You,

    • Carm, I used to have such a weird sleep schedule and never slept through the night. A few days into my juice fast and my sleep was back to normal and I was able to sleep throughout the night just fine. So it’s most likely the juice fast getting your sleep patterns back to normal. It’s always in your best interest to ask your doctor about your medications while you are on your juice fast. Your doctor may recommend you stop, or may need to adjust your quantities. You may be interested in following Mal’s progress. He had high blood pressure among other things and within a few days was able to get off his medication. Keep me posted on you and your husbands progress Carm. I wish you two the best of luck!

  20. quite balance, it’s mix well when I drink it. and I prefer this original recipe, it consists of citrus fruits than use the alternative fruits :)

  21. How many times a day would you recommend having this juice

  22. How long should i keep my juice before it goes bad? does the timing also include in the Refrigerator

    • Tracena, try to drink it as soon as you can. Do not leave it for more than 6-8 hours and that includes being in the refrigerator. Hope this helps!

  23. Hey Donnie, this is a kick butt recipe. Seems a lot like the lean mean green machine recipe.

    • Ivan thanks for your comment, I’m glad you enjoy the recipe. What is the lean green machine recipe?

  24. This is quite an interesting recipe, I’ll have to make my own and try it.
Have you tried the Lean Mean Green Machine before? It’s like the super juice of all juice it seems..

    • Haven’t tried the lean green machine before but shoot me a link and I’ll give it a shot Ivan.

  25. Hi, I want to start juice diet from Tuesday but am super scared that I will feel week and extremely hungry

    • Amisha, when you start your juice fast you may or may not experience detox symptoms. The juice will make you feel better the longer you drink it. Hunger is how your body tells you that it’s in need of nutrition. Cravings are when your mind is telling you to eat out of habit or for the pure taste and enjoyment of food. Don’t get the two mixed up, the juice is loaded with nutrients and will turn off the hunger. Only you can turn off the cravings. As far as feeling weak, the juice will give you plenty of energy. You just have to stay strong and stay focused on your goals Amisha. You can do this. Set your mind that you are going to do it and you’ll do it. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  26. Your site is fantastic. I have done my shopping and I start the 7 day detox as of tomorrow. Thanks for your help

    • Awesome Kerri! Congrats on making the decision to do the juice fast. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  27. I have the Jack LaLanne juicer and I read that when you are juicing greens (kale, spinach, parsley etc.) roll it in a ball to juice. But, I find that there is a lot of waste …whole pieces, is this normal?

    • Louise, does your juicer have different speeds? If so, make sure you are using high speed on your leafy greens. It also helps to make sure you aren’t forcing the produce in there, just gently push down on the pusher. I find I get plenty of juice out of them when I juice them on high speed, and push very lightly on the pusher. Try that out in addition to packing it tightly. I’ll be here if you have any questions.

  28. I don’t like the taste of ginger, what can I substitute, and I found that the cleanup process after juicing takes me longer than juicing does, can I make a days worth of juice so I only clean up once and still get all the profits of juicing?

    • I got the jack lalanne power juicer

    • TeResa, a good substitute for ginger is lemon or radish. You could also do a little bit of lemon and radish if you like. The radish will give it the hot taste so if that’s what you don’t like, just use the lemon. You can also just not substitute anything for it and exclude it from your juices. I’m always surprised when I hear people talk about how long it takes to clean up. I find it best to spray off the juicer pieces, soak them in the sink, drink my juice, wipe down the counter, rinse and dry off the juicer pieces and then put it back together. Centrifugal juicers are all mainly comprised of the same pieces just different shapes and sizes. Once you get a routine down, your prep, juicing, and cleaning time will be around 10 minutes.

But you can make your juice ahead of time, but I if you do, you should make it in the morning and not the night before. Juice will lose nutritional value the longer it sits. That’s why it’s best to drink it fresh.

  29. Hi Donnie,

I have just decided to start juicing I am currently waiting for my juicer to arrive. CAN HARDLY WAIT!

I was noticing on the receipes it doesn’t tell you how much it yields. How do you store what if any is left.

    • Kimberly, the recipes usually yield between 16-22 ounces. I never have enough left over to store but if you do end up with more and plan on storing it, it’s best to store it in an airtight container like a mason jar or thermos.

I’ll be here if you have any questions. And congrats on starting your juice fast!

  30. What can be substituted for the tomatoes and cucumber? I’m allergic to tomatoes & can not stand cucumbers no matter how hard I try.

    • Francesca, thank you for your comment. The drink is based around tomatoes but try a beet. As for the cucumber try either zucchini or romaine lettuce. I’ll be here if you have questions.

  31. I just tried this and it was delicious!! Will definitely be drinking this again. Thanks for the recipe.
