Day 6 - I wasn't as tired today, but I had a slight headache and/or my head felt kinda weird. Not sure if foggy or spacey are the right words, but something like that.

Today I heard some horror stories about juice fasts gone bad. It made me a little concerned about doing this. But on the other hand I've heard positive stories here and elsewhere. I guess I just need to focus on what my goals are and how my body is feeling. I just want to make sure I do stick with it long enough to find out if it would help my health issues. The weight loss is great, but if that were the only reason I was doing this, I would stop and do weight loss the hard but tried and true way - exercise and healthy diet.

Grats on day 6 claire, that's almost a full week of juicing! Don't worry about the horror stories you've heard. Most of the ones I've heard were from people not juicing correctly or not understanding how to juice fast. Another thing that causes a lot of people to get sick is that they aren't correctly cleaning their produce or they are using cheap produce and getting sick off of it. Just remember to clean it and if it's the least bit rotten or decaying, don't juice it.

Just keep doing what you are doing Claire, it seems to be working out great for you so far!

I was 212 lbs before I started juicing, today I am 185 lbs and feel better than I did 10 years ago!

Just had my last juice of Day 8!

Deirdre went home yesterday and Sarah went home today so I'm on my own! Before Sarah left we decided that since we couldn't go out to 'eat' we would go out 'drinking' 😉 There's an organic place in the center of town that sells fresh squeezed juice so we went there. It was nice to not have to prepare the produce and clean the juicer!

I have a headache today again. I wonder if my water intake isn't enough. I haven't really been tracking it. I will be more aware of that from now on. I don't think it's detox because I didn't really get a headache until the 6th day.

I'm considering taking excedrin - I know there's caffeine but it's what works the best for me. And I'm not a regular coffee, tea or soda drinker so it's not something I need to get away from.

Claire, sorry you're there by yourself now. If exceeding is what works give it a shot to get you over the headache. Hope the headache goes away!

When I started feeling nauseous I knew the headache would become a migraine so I took the excedrin. However, now it's 2AM and I'm still wide awake! o.O I'd rather be awake and happy then awake moaning in bed with a migraine.

Tomorrow is day 10. That was my initial goal. I've decided the longest i will go is 30 days. So after tomorrow it's a day at a time. I also have decided that after the fast I'm going to fall the diet guidelines in Eat to Live by Dr Fuhrman. After 6 weeks of that I can experiment with the foods I like to see how my body reacts to them and then be able to decide when to allow myself treats, knowing how my body responds to them.

Question - is it normal to still have diarrhea on day 9?? It's not after every juice, but at least daily. I also still feel very bloated.

Wow, day 10 already?!?! Claire, when you do have a BM you have to remember it will not be a solid one due to the fact you aren't digesting any solids or any fibers. It's simply your digestive system clearing itself out of the years of build up stuff. Some of that stuff takes longer to get out but it will eventually come out.

If you feel bloated, then cut back on the amount of juice you are having per sitting. Try that and let me know how it works out.

Yesterday I decided to make it the last day of the juice fast. I went grocery shopping last night and totally splurged on fruit, thinking about being able to eat it all! I was sorely tempted to eat something last night, but I stuck it out so that I would have the lowest possible weight this morning.

Over the ten days I lost 7.5 pounds and 1.5 inches. I anticipate gaining a few pounds back so I will post the net loss in a few days. I'm sticking to just fruits and vegetables for a few days, and then Dr Fuhrman's vegan 6 week plan. After that we'll see how my health is doing and I'll decide what foods I may or may not want to add back in. Yesterday my mom asked "You're not going vegetarian on me, are you?" lol - I told her that I'm not because I like bacon too much. :)

Claire, if you keep juicing while adding one or two light meals to your routine you'll continue to lose weight. Just keep your meals light and healthy!

It's been a week since I finished the juice fast. I only gained half a pound for a few days after I started eating. I've been sticking to a mostly fruits & veggies diet. Just like when I was juicing, I'm eating enough to keep me satisfied. When I weighed in this morning I was down a pound and half from where I ended the juice fast! I have been juicing some using my favorite recipes. I took a break from exercising for the juice fast, but I'm going to get back into that this morning.

Claire, you probably haven't really gained anything at all. You have to remember when you go back to solids you're filling up your intestines again with fiber that wasn't there during the juice fast. Also, your weight will frequently change when you go back to eating solids. Just stick to eating healthy and you'll start to notice even more weight loss in the long run. Exercising will also do you some good after your fast.
