Day 6. Weighed myself first thing this morning and lost 6.2 lbs. My stomach/intestines are beginning to grumble and have diarrhea. Started yesterday and continued today. I'm drinking juices that are 16 oz or a bit more, drinking water throughout the day....I don't get it. It gurgles like hungry, I'm drinking juice every 2.5 hours with water in between.

I figured it out.....I had some decaf tea last night that had Splenda in it :/ That would explain it right? Drank lots of water and felt better after dinner juice.

Congrats on day 6 and over 6 pounds lost Ysette! Make sure you are drinking enough water and especially right after you have a juice. It's important to dilute it as it's a really high concentration of nutrition.

The splenda could explain it. I'm glad you're feeling better now. Keep me posted Ysette.

Ugh. I spoke too soon! About 3 hours after dinner juice, it started again. In my previous non-juice life, I didn't eat anything after 7/730. My last juice was a little before then. Should I drink another one after? I'm not really hungry as I drink water up until bedtime which has been 10/11ish (recently has been 10) Slept fine, no problems, other than getting up to urinate 2-3 times. Today, I'm still gurgling/intermittent diarrhea. Not as bad but I thought these were things that happened on first few days. I dunno, maybe I committed a major crime in my eating, therefore I'm doing the time :) I drink about 16 oz after each juice...do I need more than that?

If you're not hungry, then don't have a juice. Let your body tell you when it's time to have a juice. Try having between 8-16 ounces of water after your juice and a more throughout the day. You may get intermittent diarrhea but it will eventually stop as your body adjusts. You may also want to try drinking less juice per sitting. Sometimes when you have too much juice at a time, it only has one way out. Let me know how things go.

Ok. Thanks Donnie. I was contemplating just going 7 days (today being day 7) if this didn't resolve and wean off starting tomorrow. I just had my dinner juice with water afterwards. I will continue to drink water throughout the night and see how it goes.

Hello Donnie! I have had a VERY tough time with my digestion lately .. More than usual. And I was recommended by a Dr. to drink senna tea everyday. I have drank this in the past and i find it somewhat aggresive on my digestive system.

Of course juicing came to my mind as a possible remedy. Do you think it will help with this issue? If so, which veggie/ fruit combinaton do you recommend?

Miri, remember, when you are juicing you're digestive system will not have to work. This may be a possible remedy to help straighten things out. Ultimately, what you eat and drink afterwards will play the biggest part in your digestive health moving forward. So try out a 7 day juice fast and see if it helps. The next 7 days you should eat only raw fruits and veggies along with your juices.

I suggest any of the recipes here at JOJ. They all serve the same purpose and give a variety of different nutrients. Let me know how things go Miri and I'm here if you have any questions.

The gurgling was too much...at least I completed a 7.5 day fast! I made myself a Mean Green for dinner and I just couldn't drink it...I drank about 2 oz. So I broke fast and ate a very small salad with some lemon juice and a little bit of pepper. No gurgling after eating! With my luck, it probably resolved just as I broke the fast. Should've just stuck with it and gone 10 days. I really, really wanted to do the 14 day. Maybe I am not mentally "fit" yet. I know it was all psychological. I am anxious to see how I do with solids/exercise regime. I most definitely will be back to juice fast in a couple of weeks and will have one or two as a meal regularly. Thanks for all your help Donnie.

A week is still enough to give you a good detox Ysette. Don't think of it as a bad thing, think of it as a positive way that you've helped yourself. Make sure you don't go back to your previous eating habits and stick to incorporating good healthy foods into your diet and you'll keep losing weight. I wish you all the best Ysette! I'll be here if you have any questions.

HI Donnie & fellow JOJ participants. I recently invested in a Breville Fountain which I luv, the pulp is so dry it's almost like a powder. I've been addicted to Pepsi Diet soda for over 45 yrs & weigh 165lbs. I am prepping this week by cutting way down on the DP, none today & the previous days I would drink about 4-6oz when I would get a headache from caffeine withdrawel, ate 2 sm to reg meals with 1 meal only a juice. I signed up with Bountiful Basket for a regular food basket plus a juice basket (everyone may want to check this program out). My question is I would like to make a day's supply of juices for convenience. I read somewhere that juices should be stored in dark containers so would it be wise to invest in some of the ss hiking bottles for storage or would plastic or glass be better? Thank You & I'm so looking forward to beginning a full juice fast come next Monday, Millie

Hi Donnie, I plan to begin a 7 day fast on Monday 10/21. I have all my veggies & fruits which I bought from 'Bountiful Baskets'. If I were to make a 1 days supply to save on cleanup chores how should I store them. I've heard several tips 1. only use dark containers 2. only glass or stainless containers 3. use any container as long as it has a tight fitting lid. I am confused as to which would be best for my plan
Thanks, Millie

Hi Millie,

We have been using mason jars to store ours refrigerated, but always make sure you use them within 8-12 hours otherwise you loose alot of the nuttrients. As long as you store them in an airtight container and keep them refrigerated you will be fine. Thermos or mason jars are fine, but keep them refrigerated. We usually make breakfast fresh and then at the same time lunches in advance to take to work for the day and then later in the evening make dinner fresh and its been going great. We clean the machine after making breakfast and then make the lunches to take with us and clean it again..I know its alot of work to clean again but it helps. We are on day 11 and going strong. Hope to hear how you make out on your up comming fast.

Wishing you the very best
Ray

Hi, my husband and I are planning on beginning a 7 day (possibly longer for me) fast starting next week. We're looking to kick start our bodies for better food choices in the future. Neither of us have a problem with eating fresh produce, however in Australia the price of fresh berries is extreme with 150g (5oz) of blueberries costing up to $6. Is it ok to use thawed out frozen berries or will I just be getting a bunch of water in my juice?

Yes, frozen fruits are fine to use. Just make sure you let them thaw out completely before juicing. Try taking a handful and putting them in a ziploc bag to thaw out. Once they are thawed just put them and the juice in the bag through the juicer. This way you don't waste any juice in the thawing process. Enjoy!

Hi I'm new to the juicing world and I have 1 question that I can't seem to find an answer for, I don't have time in the morning to make my juice and I was thinking about just making it at night. Since I'm not using juicing as a weightless tool and just trying to get the health benefits is this ok?

It is okay, however you will loose some of the nutrients by preparing your juice the night before. It would be ideal to minimize the time between preparation and consumption. If you must prepare your juice the night before, I would recommend storing it in the fridge if possible while you are doing your daily tasks.

Thanks for the website :) Nice job. This website I can across while googling how much weight can you lose in 7 days.
I currently have a Breville juicer and 2 books from fat sick and nearly dead. Reading your website is helping me stay on track.
This has been the successful completion of my first day juicing and reading this website is really helping.
Thanks
How much weight have people lost while juicing?

Thank

Pete

I have been using New Classic BPA Free Genuine Blue 28-oz Large Original Sundesa Blender Bottle 3 of these bottles one I fill with green juice one with red juice and the third with orange juice(recipes suggested from fat sick and nearly dead) and I make it in the morning or right before I go to sleep and these 3 28 oz bottles take me through one day 5-6 servings.

Hi!

I'm hoping to start my juice fast on Monday May 26th and been looking through recipes and trying to plan my shopping list for the first few days. I'm just thinking about after the fast. I want to continue on a healthy diet, and will do a juice fast one a month but when I go back to eating solids which is the best way to do this? I'm imaging there will be some effects changing from juices to actual food?

Thanks in advance guys! X

I have a question. I’ve been on the juice fast for 7 days now. It’s mostly gone well although I always feel hungry at night. I’ve been drinking around 100oz a day. And I think quite a bit of water and tea.

Yesterday was a more challenging day. I had a headache, was hungry all day and am very hungry tonight. I haven't been sleeping great either (waking in the night I think due to hunger). Last night I woke up at 2am with a kind of gnawing hunger and ate half a banana. I felt better but may have made today harder?

Any advice?

Should I be drinking more? Adding food? Or is it common to have some hungry days on the longer fasts?

I was hoping to go thirty days but with this kind of hunger I don’t think I could make it. Thanks
