Refrigeration and time savings
on: August 8, 2019, 08:26

5 years ago, I used to start my day with a nice, freshly squeezed cup of veggie juice. While I was able to do it, I felt better and better. Unfortunately, it is not only a time commitment but also a bit of a balancing act to keep the supply of veggies that I use on hand and fresh. I used to use wheat grass, kale, spinach, cilantro, cucumber, garlic and kiwi. I am thinking of making 3 days at a time and pouring each day's drink into a plastic bag, squeeze the air out of it and seal it with a heal sealing device. My fridge is about 34 degrees F, 1-2 degrees C. Will there be much loss of the value of fresh juice if I do this? 3 days is a good amount because it lets me use all of the veggies up at one time, so they don't sit in the fridge, partly cut open already or otherwise loosing nutrition. The recipe for a 3 day supply of juice is 1 large cucumber (as opposed to 1/3), 1 large bunch of spinach (as opposed to 1/3), 2 kiwis (as opposed to 2/3 of a kiwi), etc.
