Howdy, I'm very new to juicing but was wondering if anyone has ever juiced cactus leaves? Do you just throw them in the hopper and then you have juice or do you have to add something to it? Any thoughts would be appreciated as I love the flavor and they are supposedly a very healthy food.

Kirk, just toss em down the shoot and see what happens. I've juiced prickly pear cactus and it turns out just fine!

I've only used them in smoothies and they are healthy and delicious. Maybe try with pineapple or grapefruit. Be careful with the amount you use because they can make your juice slimy, unless that is what you are going for, of course 😛

So, I brought home some nopales from my mom's backyard because they are in season right now and she has a lot. As I am writing this post I am drinking a freshly made spinach, kale, pineapple, grapefruit, nopal juice. The taste is magnificent, I love the combination of those ingredients but... the texture is not my favorite, it is quite slimy. I am still drinking it because the flavor is very good and I am trying to focus on that, but I don't know how comfortable a person that is not used to eating nopales would be. I find that adding ice helps.

I still have three nopales left, so for the next three days I will be enjoying the healthiest and tastiest juice on the planet... that's what I like to think 😉

Cheers!

Sounds good, minus the slime part! I'll have to get my hands on some nopales and try this out!
