Label reading and bread machines
on: May 2, 2013, 09:37

I have decided that if I do not know what it is or how to pronounce it I am not going to consume it. After a short trip to the grocery store I realize there is a ton of stuff I wont want to eat anymore. I love breads and was wondering what everyones thoughts are on a bread machine. I will know what goes into it and can but the whole wheat unprocessed flour at the local granola store. Moderation is a basic and I dont plan on eating bread all day every day.

I love juicing! I always have to tell people I am not on steroids. Lol

I think it would be fine to do breads occasionally but in moderation. Regardless of if it's store bought or home made it's still not as healthy as fresh veggies and fruits. Home made bread is delicious though and as long as you eat it in moderation you should be fine.

Have you ever tried any of the recipes for raw nut breads skylark? They are delicious, and only have a few easy to get ingredients. Just google 'raw nut bread recipe'
Which brings me to another question for you Donnie. What do you think about nuts and juicing? I've never tried it,
wonder what that would taste like, or if it's just a waste of a good nut, lol.

Nichole, I haven't tried that yet. It does sound very good though! But we wouldn't be able to eat that while on a juice fast. I haven't tried juicing nuts or adding nuts into my juicer. I do enjoy almond milk while I'm not fasting but no nuts while on the fast. I'll do some more research into adding nuts to the juices and see if it might be beneficial.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I didn't realize you cannot have nut milk while fasting. I guess the answer is in the question though, it is a milk and not a juice. Makes sense, (duh)

My friend Deirdre got an article from a friend that outlined a basic juice fast, and it included almond milk. So, she has decided to drink that too. I've decided to stay away from it while on the fast.

Yeah, I'd stay away from it as the purpose is to load up on the nutrients from fresh veggies and fruits. While those types of fluids are healthy choices, I feel they are best utilized for after a juice fast.

You also have to consider that nut milk needs to be digested unlike fresh fruit and veggie juice. So that kind of takes her out of the fast as it forces her digestive system to start working again. Just because it's liquid, doesn't mean it's something that should be consumed on a fast.
