CTaylor, after years of eating processed foods, your taste buds have adjusted to that way of eating. They will adjust to the juice and before you know it you'll start to crave the juice. You have to figure out whats more important at this stage, the taste of juices or your health. Remember, you're juicing for your health.

Try adding more lemon to your juices or even an orange. Try out as many recipes as you can. I'm sure you will find some that you enjoy.

Kale

Hi

I'm new to juicing, I noticed that kale doesn't seem to "juice" as such, as what I'm throwing away after running it through the juicer seems to be in the same state prior to it going into the juicer.

I appears to be a very dry plant, I'm wondering if it is a waste of time using it here, and rather just cook with it instead to get the full goodness.

Liam, kale should give you juice but not as much as say a cucumber or an apple. It gives a little juice but it's highly concentrated. What type of juicer are you using?

I must be doing something wrong because I did the Hulk plus a couple of other recipes & cannot get 16-20oz
The carrots, cukes are very lg. Am I supposed to add water? I'm lucky to get 10-12 oz.
My juicer is a Breville Juice Fountain Plus, the pulp is pretty dry
What might I need to do to get the larger drink? Should I add water or ???

Millie, I've never used the juice fountain but if you're getting smaller amounts on most recipes I would have to say the juice fountain must be providing less juice. Try upping the quantities a little. I find it's easy to add more cucumber, celery, or even another granny smith apple. Most recipes call for 1-3 of those ingredients so feel free to play around with the quantities a bit.

Make sure you drink water immediately after your juice too as it will help to dilute it in your stomach for easier absorption.

hello afsoon,

did you drink regular juice from a container?

that is full of sugar and you lost water weight. if you want to lose weight, that is a side effect of juice fasting. i did it for over 80 days and i got healthy in other ways but i lost a lot of weight. the only way to lose weight on a juice fast is to do a true juice fast.

if you need any help, let me know, andy

Hi Andy,
No I didn't drink regular juice from container, I did juice fresh every day with your formula of 80% veggie and 20% fruit and I drink 8-12 glace of lemon and cucumber water every day but I still eat my supper which half is salad and half lean meat! I am in my fifth week now but no more weight loss just the original 11 pounds and still is off.
Should I stop eating supper too?
tnx

you are drinking too much. there is no written law as to how much you should juice but i juice 3 times a day and i drink maybe 36 ounces a day. you are drinking 96 ounces of water which is more than the fda tells us to do. you should only drink that much if you are constantly sweating but if you are not exerting fluid and you take in 96 ounces, it is going to make you heavier. i have done this study before and it is true. eating a meal will also make you gain weight but if you are not on a juice fast, you don't need to worry about the meal. a juice fast means no solids for a period of time. you are doing juicing as a meal replacement. if you want to lose weight, you need to drink mainly mean greens and not eat. that is what i did but i fasted to get my health better and to try and change my eating ways. weight loss is a SIDE EFFECT of juicing and you should not juice just to lose weight. anything else, let me know as i am here, andy

Hi there, greetings from Ireland! Just wondering if I complete a 7 day juice fast, how long would you wait before you start your next fast, ie what is the recommended rest time between fasts? Thanks and love the site!

hello there,

you can do whatever you want too. there is no right or wrong time. just do it when you feel like it!

some people wait a week,a month, a couple of days, etc.

whatever you do will be fine.

cheers,
andy

Hi I am new to this juicing idea, and I am trying to do as much research as I can before I actually go and buy a juicer. I am looking at getting a Fusion Juicer and was wondering if anyone has or has hdad one and if they liked it or not? I am also open to any other suggestions regarding juicers. Thank you.

I've never tried the Fusion juicer but Jason Vale recommends it. I've heard good things about it so give it a try and let us know how it works for you.

Finished day one with no complaints. I love ginger in the drinks! I need some good grapefruit jand pomegranate juice recipes as I have 20 quarts of pomegranate juice in my freezer and a grapefruit tree ready for some harvesting. Also, what about green tea -- okay or not? I am 5'2" and have about 25 lbs. to lose, so I am kick starting my weight loss program with your seven day cleanse. Thank you for the forum; I will visit it often.

Hi - congrats on your helpful and informative website.

Im intending to do a 5 day juice fast next week but having a couple of trial days first and enjoying it so far (on Day 1)

Just a couple of questions i would like to ask :

I love the taste of ginger and will probably incorporate ginger in a lot of my juices - does it need to be peeled first or can I just bung it in after a rinse/clean ?

Can milk or yoghurt also be taken when on a juice fast or are they a no-no ?

I tend to eat a banana prior to hitting the gym, are bananas considered a solid ? and should I stop eating them during the fast ?

I like the idea of the hot lemon drink 1st thing in the morning but prefer limes and would probably use them - would adding a bit of honey into it be a bad thing ?

I eat a fair bit of Porridge and Chia seeds (which are dry and wont juice but they do absorb fluid and turn into a gel not dissimilar to frog spawn) - are they to be avoided during a fast ?

Sorry for all the questions.....thanks in advance, Paul

Edited to add a couple more that my GP asked me this morning :

Where will I get my carbs from ?
Where will I get my calcium from ?

Hi..

I want to start my juice fast from tomorrow, but what i don't understand - is you have a set menu for the 7 days and shopping list. Also you have a variety of juices in your 'juicing recipes' does that mean i can drink any juice in the 7 days or do i just drink the set menu of 6 different juices.. Sorry if my question sounds silly

Regards
Safiya

I am starting my juice fast journey on Sunday. I am nervous and excited. Whereas my main objective is for overall better health weight loss is important as well. I need to lose about 80 pounds. My question is do I continue with the juicing until the goal is achieved or is there a method of on and off with solids in between?

Hi, I am on my first day of juicing. Finding it very difficult. I have definitley confirmed my weakness is bread and pasta. No other cravings yet.

My question: Is it normal to feel nauseous during a juice fast? Maybe just at the beginning?? Any tips to help this?

thanks,
kate

Hi, I am new to juicing. As a matter fact today is my 1st day. I'm excited about my new healthier lifestyle and will be celebrating by shopping today for my jucier. Any jucier suggestions? I work full time at a very demanding job, a wife and mother of two, very active small kids ( they have busy schedules too). Conservation of time and effortless clean up is essential when it comes to my juicer of choice. Please help!!!

Hey everyone! I just started my juice diet, it has been six days, but I am still not used to it. I had two questions, what if I ate one meal instead of juice, how would that effect me ? Secondly, I was wondering if I could drink packaged soups? I cant make them at home, because I get home late from work. And I only juice once a week with a family member at their house.....

Thanks!
