Hello! I'm in the middle of a fitness program but when I finish towards the end of June I want to juice for 10-14 days. Unfortunately I'm on a very tight budget. I have a friend I can borrow a juicer from, but I'm concerned about the cost of all these fresh fruits and vegetables. My current food budget is only $200 a month (I live alone so that's just for me). When on a juice fast, how much do you spend per day or per week on fruits and veggies?

Hello Claire! The cost usually comes out to be around $10/day when I juice. But I'm buying all organic and not buying to save money. You can cut costs a couple of ways though.

1. Buy only what you need

2. Organic can be more expensive but it's not going to make or break your fast if you don't go organic

3. Check your local farmers market. Sometimes you can get their produce much cheaper

4. Here in AZ we have something called "Market on the Move". For $10 you can get 60 pounds of produce. Not sure if you have something like that where you live but it's definitely a huge cost saver if you do

5. Produce is always on sale, shop and compare your local grocery store adds and see what is on sale. Some stores will even price match their competition.

6. Check clearance sections! I've found my local Fresh n Easy will drop stuff as much as 90% when it's about to expire. I get big bundles of Kale for as low as 49 cents some times. Since you're just going to juice it right away, it can save you a lot of money.

Hope this helps you out Claire!

Mines is about $15 per day for my wife and I. I live is a real expensive state ( Connecticut ) but you know what? It's worth it. You can't put a price on health. Think of how much you will save for being healthy and not paying for all kinds of medications?

That does help. $10 a day isn't too bad. That would be $140 for two weeks which is only $40 more than I would be spending. I think I can swing that.

I know I could save money by shopping deals, but I have a hard enough time getting to one grocery store one day a week. Though maybe after a few days of juicing my energy level will be better!
